1072: Chapter 1071 The Two Demons Make a Decisive Struggle, the Heavenly Demon Withdraws
The Flame Demon was grazed on the shoulder by another golden beam, leaving a large charred patch. He stumbled, his aura plummeting; he was on the verge of total exhaustion.
He looked back at the dark-gold storm of destruction swallowing everything in the distance, then at the nearly transparent Blood Demon beside him, who was holding on only by sheer obsession. Finally, his gaze fell on the back of the Sky Demon, who was flying desperately with the crystal clutched in his arms.
In his crimson pupils, madness, brutality, and resentment... finally transformed into a nearly calm resolve.
"Blood Madman!"
The Flame Demon's voice was as raspy as a broken gong, yet exceptionally clear. "How many more hits can you damn well take?"
The Blood Demon's illusory figure flickered, emitting a series of unintelligible but defiant and vicious mental shrieks.
"Hmph," the Flame Demon grinned, revealing blood-stained teeth in a hideous smile. "Then let's go crazy one last time!"
He abruptly stopped his rapid flight, turned around boldly, and faced the surging tide of Heroic Spirits, no longer fleeing.
At his chest, the originally split wound suddenly glowed with a blinding red light, as if something was about to burst out of his body!
"Inferno... Body Incineration!"
Boom—!
It was no longer a sea of fire erupting outward, but all the remaining Origin fire power madly collapsing inward and igniting!
The Flame Demon's entire body instantly turned into a brilliant crimson-white fireball dozens of meters in diameter!
The temperature of the flames reached the extreme, even distorting space, and the light was so piercing that one could not keep their eyes open.
This fireball was not static but fell like a meteor, actively meeting the chasing tide of Heroic Spirits and slamming into it!
"Sizzle—!!!"
The extreme heat and violent fire-attribute Law exploded, instantly vaporizing hundreds of Heroic Spirits at the front and blasting the vanguard of the tide behind them into chaos, forming a brief sea of fire and a zone of confusion.
This was the Flame Demon's final glory, using the complete burning of his demon body and Divine Soul as the price to buy another instant of time for his companions behind him.
Almost at the same time the Flame Demon's Incarnation fireball erupted, the Blood Demon's extremely illusory shadow also stopped.
He made no sound; only that thin mist of blood suddenly contracted inward and solidified, turning into a set of blood armor attached to his body!
The moment this blood armor appeared, the stench of blood in the world intensified a hundredfold, even faintly overpowering the murderous aura of the battlefield itself and the golden light of the Heroic Spirits.
A blood-colored long blade appeared in his hand. With one swing, the speed reached the extreme, turning into a blood line, but it did not attack the Heroic Spirits; instead, it silently sank into the charred earth below.
In the next moment, centered where the blood line entered, the ground for hundreds of meters around instantly turned into a writhing, viscous Blood Marsh that emitted a foul stench and strong corrosiveness!
Within the Blood Marsh, countless twisted blood-colored tentacles and wailing illusory vengeful Souls reached out, madly entangling, pulling, and corroding the Heroic Spirits trapped within.
This was a Divine Ability performed by the Blood Demon with his last strength, combining the endless blood Qi and deathly resentment remaining on the battlefield to lay a deadly trap and barrier. Although it could not last long, it was vicious and troublesome enough to further delay the pursuers.
"Go!"
This was the Flame Demon's final roar before exploding, and also the last clear thought the Blood Demon transmitted to the Sky Demon.
The Sky Demon's golden vertical pupils suddenly contracted to the limit, and the metallic friction of the wings on his back was sharp enough to tear eardrums.
He did not look back, did not hesitate for a second, and did not even slow down by half.
At the moment the chaos and obstruction created by the Flame Demon's fireball explosion and the Blood Marsh's spread formed, he poured all his power without reservation into his wings, even at the cost of breaking his wing bones!
"Shoom—!"
A black stream of light, faster and more resolute than at any time before, tore through the remaining obstacles ahead. Taking advantage of that gap measured in milliseconds, like a reverse-shooting black meteor, he slammed into the distorted, dark space barrier at the horizon!
Behind him, the light from the Flame Demon's self-detonation was fading, and the Blood Marsh laid by the Blood Demon was fluctuating violently and rapidly thinning under the impact of the golden tide.
Further away, in the area of the dark-gold destruction storm where the Sword Demon was, a sword whistle that seemed capable of tearing the Soul rang out, along with the enraged roars of four Peak Heroic Spirits, followed by a terrifying fluctuation of something breaking and then boldly reuniting...
The Sky Demon's figure completely entered the distorted barrier and vanished.
Of the Four Demon Generals, three remained and one left.
The goal was always the same—to deliver the crystal into the King's hands and help him break through the bottleneck quickly.
The distorted space barrier closed behind him, cutting off all the chasing golden gazes, roars, and the final explosive destruction fluctuations from the distant battlefield.
The Sky Demon's vision went dark, followed by a near-weightless sensation of falling.
He passed through a layer of viscous, scorching air barrier. His ears no longer heard the battlefield slaughter, but a low rumbling from deep within the earth, and the characteristic pungent smell of sulfur and lava.
He did not try to control the fall, nor did he even spread his wings to glide.
All his strength and all his will seemed to be drained the moment he broke through the barrier and confirmed he was temporarily safe.
He merely curled his body instinctively, tightly protecting the burning black-gold crystal in his arms, allowing gravity to pull him down toward the boundless darkness and the increasingly intense red light below.
He didn't know how much time had passed; perhaps only an instant, perhaps as long as a century.
"Boom!!"
He crashed heavily onto a scorching and hard rock platform. The massive impact brought a sweet taste to his throat, and he nearly fainted. The severely damaged metallic wing bones on his back let out a tooth-aching groan, and several broken feathers fell off, turning to ash.
But he immediately struggled to his feet, warily scanning his surroundings. After resting for a moment and confirming there were no pursuers, he continued flying.
After trekking for a while, the Sky Demon slowed down. Below was a deathly silent, massive volcanic crater, yet he resolutely flew into it.
This was an unimaginably huge underground space, with the ceiling high above, hidden in rolling sulfur smoke.
The surrounding rock walls were dark red, with golden-red lava veins flowing like blood vessels, making gurgling sounds and emitting a blinding light.
The ground was rugged and uneven, covered with cooled volcanic rock and sharp crystal clusters.
And in the very center of this massive space was an even deeper, hotter depression.
There was no flowing lava lake there, only a mass of pure and violent dark-gold flames that occupied most of the depression!
These flames were no ordinary fire; they burned and leaped silently, yet emitted a majesty and an aura of destruction that made even the Sky Demon's Soul tremble.
In the center of the flames, the light was at its most intense, almost impossible to look at directly. One could only vaguely see the outline of a tall figure sitting cross-legged.
That figure seemed to be one with the flames, or perhaps the flames existed because of him.
