110: Chapter 110 Underground Palace
As the stone slab on the ground opened, the air was instantly filled with a decaying scent and a faint smell of blood.
The expressions of the two changed immediately.
"Should we go down?"
Ye asked in a deep voice.
Qin Mo shook his head helplessly. "We're already here. Is there any other way out besides going down?"
The two then shared a look and cautiously walked down.
"Boom!"
Just as they stepped down, the stone door above them slammed shut, giving them both a start.
"What's going on? Did you bring a flashlight?"
Just as Ye finished speaking, Qin Mo quickly turned on the camera on his watch.
"This... this is..."
Once they saw their surroundings clearly, their pupils shrank and their faces turned deathly pale. A chill rushed from the soles of their feet to the crowns of their heads.
They were in a massive circular palace. The surrounding walls were built from bluestone slabs, with no visible exit.
What terrified them was that in the very center of the palace, a huge crystal coffin stood atop four pillars, at least three meters above the ground.
Beneath the coffin lay a pile of skeletons, and at five positions around the coffin knelt five black skeletons dressed in black robes, forming a pentagon.
...
"Ugh!"
Ye couldn't hold it back any longer; he bent over and began to vomit.
Beside him, Qin Mo's face was also quite pale. He knew there was something fishy here, but he hadn't expected it to be so...
After a long while, their complexions gradually returned to normal.
With lingering fear, Ye said, "What on earth happened here? What's the deal with this crystal coffin?"
Qin Mo rolled his eyes.
"How should I know? Let's take a look first!"
With that, the two exchanged a look and approached the crystal coffin along the dusty aisle.
Qin Mo looked around and said strangely, "Don't you think this place is very odd?"
"What? What's odd about it?"
"I feel like I've seen this place somewhere before."
"Seen it?"
Ye suddenly thought of something and quickly took a drawing out of his pocket, handing it to Qin Mo.
"Take a look. Is the architecture here the same as what's on this drawing?"
"Yes! This is it!"
Qin Mo carefully examined the drawing, then looked around again, sinking into thought.
Who exactly was buried in this coffin? Why were there so many bones on the ground? And what was the significance of these wizards?
"Qin Mo! There's writing on the coffin!"
Just then, Ye's exclamation interrupted Qin Mo.
Qin Mo instinctively walked over.
"What characters are these?"
Qin Mo stared for a long time but couldn't make heads or tails of it.
Ye pondered for a moment and said calmly, "This should be some kind of ancient script."
"Nonsense!"
Qin Mo rolled his eyes.
"You think I don't know it's an ancient script? I'm asking you what's written on it!"
"How should I know? I'm a Detective! I'm not a history major."
Ye spread his hands, looking somewhat helpless.
The two studied it for a long time afterward but still had no clue.
It was the first time they had suffered from a lack of education...
"Let's go! Let's look around and see if there's a way out."
Ye looked at Qin Mo with some confusion. "We're not opening the coffin? Don't you want to know what secrets are hidden here?"
"Brother! We can't even save ourselves right now. Who cares about secrets? The priority is getting out of here!"
"That's true..."
Ye glanced at the crystal coffin and then walked in one direction, while Qin Mo headed in another.
As he walked, Qin Mo suddenly spotted some black objects ahead.
"What is this?"
Filled with doubt, Qin Mo cautiously approached.
When he saw clearly what the objects were, he was instantly stunned.
"Officer Li?"
Qin Mo then hurried forward.
He saw a group of Hat Uncles and Li Ming lying haphazardly on the ground. Upon closer observation, Qin Mo was surprised to find that they were actually... sleeping...
"Wake up! Officer Li!"
After being shaken for a while, Officer Li finally woke up slowly.
His face still held a look of daze; he clearly hadn't realized what had happened yet...
"Qin Mo? Why are you here? Where is this?"
Qin Mo said helplessly, "I was about to ask you the same thing. Why are you here?"
At those words, the daze on Li Ming's face quickly vanished. He instinctively scanned the surroundings and was instantly bewildered.
"Where is this? How did I end up here?"
Li Ming then quickly shook all the surrounding Hat Uncles awake.
Looking at the unfamiliar environment, everyone was stunned...
"I remember we drank some water given to us by the Palace Owner, and then we didn't know anything. Could there be something wrong with the water?"
At this point, one of the Hat Uncles recalled and spoke up.
Li Ming's face immediately darkened upon hearing this.
"Fine! How dare they attack the police!"
Thinking of this, Li Ming quickly stood up and roared, "Everyone, assemble! Arrest the criminals for the crime of attacking the police!"
Qin Mo rolled his eyes at this and said calmly, "Don't waste your energy. We've already looked around; there's no exit here."
"Huh?"
As soon as he said this, the whole place went into an uproar.
"If there's no exit, how do we get out?"
"He wouldn't just want us to be trapped here until we die, would he?"
"What's his purpose in doing this? We have no grudge against him. Why would he harm us? What good does it do him?"
Listening to the voices of the people around him discussing, Li Ming's face grew uglier and uglier.
He hadn't expected anyone to be so bold as to actually attack the police!
He then looked at Qin Mo and said in a heavy voice, "So, how do we get out for now?"
Qin Mo spread his hands. "How should I know? We're still looking. We haven't found the exit, but we did find you..."
"Why are you here?"
Just then, Ye walked over from the other direction, looking at Li Ming and the others in surprise.
Li Ming's face was dark. Facing Ye's question, he didn't make a sound but instead turned his head to scan the surroundings.
How could he possibly explain such an embarrassing incident in detail to someone else? Hadn't he lost enough face already?
"How is it? Is there an exit?"
Qin Mo asked calmly.
Ye spread his hands. "I've checked. This is just a circular palace. The surroundings are either walls or pillars. I haven't even seen a trace of an exit."
Li Ming lowered his head in thought and said slowly, "Could there be some kind of mechanism?"
Qin Mo shook his head.
"I don't know yet. However, when building a palace like this, there are usually two exits left."
"One exit is for the coffin to enter, which is often one-way. The other exit is a way out left by the carpenters for themselves when they were building the palace. We just need to find that exit, and we should be able to get out."
At this point, Qin Mo looked at Li Ming curiously. "By the way, how did you guys get down here?"
