175: Chapter 175 Landing on the Island
At this moment, high above the sea, Qin Mo and Platoon Leader Ji were gliding through the air on a hang glider, with massive, towering waves churning beneath them.
"How about that? Thrilling, right?"
Qin Mo asked, a teasing smile playing on his lips as he looked down at Platoon Leader Ji, who was still in a daze in his arms.
Platoon Leader Ji blinked, then instinctively asked, "How did you do that?"
She had just witnessed the massive wave about to swallow them whole, only for Qin Mo to hold her and complete a 180-degree turn within the wave, shooting them directly into the sky.
She had been in despair at the time, convinced that this was where they would meet their end. She never expected that Qin Mo hadn't been joking—he truly had a way to turn danger into safety.
Qin Mo smiled faintly, offering no answer.
He continued to guide the hang glider toward Cannibal Island. Although the sudden, massive wave had startled him, it had also, in a roundabout way, worked in his favor.
Because the fierce winds currently sweeping across the sea surface provided free power for the hang glider!
"The Streamer is too cool!"
"Damn, what did I just see? Is that even a move a human can pull off?"
"Stay calm! You can tell the person above is new here. I'm not surprised by anything Brother Mo does anymore; I'd only be surprised if he couldn't do it."
"Hey, to the person above, can you get the Streamer to eat some Aoli Ge?"
"Uh... this... I suppose... maybe... probably not..."
Time flew by, and Qin Mo and his companion had long since left the others far behind.
About two hours later, the pair finally reached the outermost perimeter of Cannibal Island.
Beyond the endless sea, this isolated island stood alone, towering over the sea level as if it had been cut off from the world.
With no reference points in the surroundings, Qin Mo really couldn't understand why they chose to set the competition location here...
Half of the island in front of them was covered in dense jungle, while the other half was submerged in seawater, with only a few withered trees visible scattered in the water.
The two checked the surroundings and found it wasn't as eerie as the internet rumored; it was just an ordinary island.
"Our mission this time is to eliminate everyone on the opposing side. Since we're the first to land, I suggest we find a spot to ambush them."
"That way, we can take them out one by one as they come up. What do you think?"
As he spoke, Platoon Leader Ji looked toward Qin Mo beside her.
"Heh..."
Qin Mo smiled faintly and said, "Let's not be hasty. Many of them are battle-hardened soldiers. If we do that, we'll probably only be able to take out those few New Recruits."
"But for the few capable ones interspersed in their teams, I doubt this trick will work, because they know we landed ahead of time and will definitely be on guard against us!"
Platoon Leader Ji frowned upon hearing this. "Then what should we do? Are we just going to watch them walk up one by one?"
Qin Mo shook his head, wearing a mysterious smile.
"Of course not! To deal with experts like them, you have to use an expert's methods!"
As he spoke, Qin Mo headed into the forest first. Platoon Leader Ji, confused, followed him.
Qin Mo scanned the surroundings, then took an entrenching tool from his backpack and began digging hard into the ground.
"What are you doing?"
Platoon Leader Ji watched his actions, filled with confusion.
Qin Mo continued digging and said, "Don't ask, just hurry up and dig with me."
Platoon Leader Ji hesitated for a moment, then also began digging hard beside Qin Mo.
The two dug for a full hour, and a large pit two meters wide and three meters long had formed on the empty ground.
After jumping out of the pit, Qin Mo flexed his hands, a mysterious smile on his face.
Platoon Leader Ji was full of curiosity; even now, she couldn't understand what Qin Mo was doing.
"An hour has passed now. I estimate they'll be landing in another hour. Cover this pit up!"
As he spoke, Qin Mo pulled a large number of grenades from his backpack, tied them all together, and placed them into the hole.
"You mean to..."
Platoon Leader Ji finally understood Qin Mo's intention.
If it succeeded, the other side would likely suffer heavy casualties.
After realizing this, Platoon Leader Ji asked, "How can you be sure they'll take this path? If they don't take this path, wouldn't it all be for nothing?"
Qin Mo raised the corners of his mouth. "Don't worry! They will!"
"And I noticed their swimming speed. Barring any accidents, they should land at least ten minutes ahead of our people, so that will avoid any friendly fire!"
Platoon Leader Ji looked at Qin Mo with some admiration. No wonder he hadn't widened the gap with them earlier; it turned out he was observing the swimming speeds of both sides.
Must admit, this kid was born to be a soldier; his methods and schemes were top-notch!
A moment later, everything was ready, and the ground had been covered by the two to match the surrounding environment; someone who didn't know would never be able to tell.
Qin Mo stopped his movements and said calmly, "Now everything is set; we just have to wait for the fish to take the bait!"
As he spoke, Qin Mo picked up the surfboard, walked to another path, and just brazenly threw it in the middle of the road.
He then retreated and pulled Platoon Leader Ji to hide in the dense forest nearby.
"What is the meaning of this?"
Platoon Leader Ji pointed to the surfboard on the small path.
Qin Mo smiled faintly.
"It's simple! There must be smart people among them. Once they see the surfboard, they'll mistakenly think we went down that path, so they won't follow it to avoid us ambushing them."
"So, they'll likely take this line instead, and this line has the pit we dug for them."
"If our people take that path, they'll assume we took the small path and will definitely keep moving forward, so our people will successfully avoid these grenades."
Platoon Leader Ji looked at Qin Mo in some shock and said nothing.
The two stared intently at the trap, silently waiting for the arrival of their prey.
On the other side.
Tom and the others finally swam to Cannibal Island after enduring great hardships.
Because they knew Qin Mo and his companion had landed early, they became vigilant as soon as they got on the island, fearing that the two might suddenly appear from some angle and spray them with bullets.
The group didn't have time to think; as soon as they landed, they stood back-to-back and headed into the dense forest.
"Tom, do you think your arch-nemesis is going to ambush you here?" Just then, a black man spoke up.
His face was full of mockery, as if he had some deep hatred for this Tom.
Tom gritted his teeth and said, "Mike, don't forget, we are a team. If I get eliminated, you won't get a single cent."
"Oh? Is that so? How about I take you out right now and see if we can get paid?"
