179: Chapter 179 Hunting
“Where did they get live ammunition from?” Platoon Leader Ji frowned and asked.
“When I woke up last night, I discovered a group of them sitting furtively around a campfire.”
“A team of about eight people brought them firearms and ammunition. I think it must be to deal with us!” Qin Mo said with a grave expression.
“Aren't the rules against bringing live ammunition? Wouldn't they be guaranteed to lose by doing this?”
“No!” Qin Mo shook his head and continued, “I finally understand why they chose to set the competition location on this Cannibal Island.”
“If I hadn't happened to run into them, they could have just shot us dead and then used the stories about Cannibal Island to make us disappear from this island.”
“With no proof of death, not only would we lose the competition, but we would also end up dead here.”
“I have to say, that's quite a scheme!” Qin Mo's voice trailed off slowly.
Beside him, Platoon Leader Ji and Ye both had expressions of deep lingering fear on their faces.
If they had gotten into a firefight with the others without knowing they had live ammunition, the three of them would probably have ended up dead right there.
Thinking of this, Platoon Leader Ji stood up abruptly.
“Let's go report them!”
Qin Mo shook his head at the sight.
“No! If we go report them now, they might just hide the guns. Knowing their character, they definitely won't admit it!”
“Besides, if we let them get eliminated that easily, that's not what I want to see!”
Saying this, a cold smile appeared on Qin Mo's face.
“You don't mean... to take them out with our bare hands?” Ye asked, eyes widening immediately.
Qin Mo nodded: “That's right! Don't they want us to stay here forever? Then we'll do the same to them—a taste of their own medicine!”
The two heard this and exchanged a look, then gritted their teeth: “Fine! We're with you!”
“What do you want to do?”
Qin Mo lowered his head to think for a moment, then said calmly: “We were previously ambushed on the main road, while Tom and his group took the small path. But they don't know that we also came to the small path and are currently ahead of them.”
“This is an advantage for us; after all, the enemy is in the open, and we are in the shadows!”
The two nodded upon hearing this.
Qin Mo continued: “With live ammunition, they are highly likely to go straight to the main road to find us. Before coming here, I roughly looked at the terrain. Deep in the main road, there is a canyon about ten meters deep.”
As he spoke, Qin Mo began drawing on the ground.
Before long, a simple map appeared on the ground, and Platoon Leader Ji and the other gathered around.
Qin Mo pointed to one end of the map and said: “The three of us will position ourselves at these three corners of the map, and we will ambush them from there!”
Platoon Leader Ji nodded, somewhat worriedly: “The method is indeed good, but what if they don't come?”
“They will!” Qin Mo flashed a confident smile.
“Tom was humiliated by me earlier; don't you think he'll be looking for revenge the moment he gets his hands on a gun?”
“I bet he's probably scouring the whole world for me right now!”
The two nodded upon hearing this.
“Before we do this, we need to make some weapons!”
“What kind of weapon can compare to a gun?” The two looked at Qin Mo, completely bewildered.
“Just watch!” Qin Mo flashed a confident smile.
Afterward, Qin Mo found a piece of wood and spent an hour whittling it into the shape of a bow.
He also used the remaining wood to make dozens of arrows, and for the bowstring, he used paracord as a substitute.
“Phew~” Looking at the three bows in his hands, Qin Mo let out a long sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
Thanks to the wilderness survival skills rewarded by the system, otherwise he wouldn't be so handy at this.
“Not bad at all! Who would have thought you had this skill?” Platoon Leader Ji picked up a bow and began examining it.
Qin Mo stood up, looked at the two, and said calmly: “Let's go!”
...
On the other side. Everyone in the command room was watching the big screen, anxious and burning with impatience.
Although they had absolute confidence in Qin Mo, three against eighteen was still a very challenging number.
After all, apart from Platoon Leader Ji, both Qin Mo and the other were New Recruits, and their practical combat experience was certainly inferior to the opponents'.
No matter how much everyone disparaged Tom, they had to admit that his personal ability was terrifying; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to take out ninety percent of their New Recruits with just those few people.
“Brigade Commander, if we lose, do we really have to share our scientific research results?” Officer Hu on the side asked, full of worry.
The Brigade Commander replied firmly: “Impossible! We won't lose! I believe in them!”
Officer Hu was stunned for a moment, then followed the Brigade Commander's gaze toward the three. He then smiled with relief: “I believe in them too!”
On the other side, the people from the Beautiful Country wore sinister smiles.
“Captain, how did the matter go?”
The Captain smiled slightly and then whispered: “Rest assured, Navy Admiral, the items have been successfully delivered to Tom.”
“This time, apart from our people, not a single person from the Dragon Country will return alive!”
“Very good!” The Beautiful Country Navy Admiral laughed upon hearing this, then said with a serious expression:
“Remember to do it properly; don't let the cameras catch it. I want it done without anyone knowing. That way, they won't have any reason to renege! After all, this scientific research result is very important to our Beautiful Country, and I don't want to see any accidents!”
“Yes!” The Captain's body jolted upon hearing this.
...
On the other side, the three of them, Qin Mo and the others, hurried toward the location Qin Mo mentioned without stopping.
Looking around, the surroundings were filled with dense jungle, the ground was overgrown with weeds, and various plants were interwoven chaotically.
There wasn't even a path, and the ground was exceptionally damp, with puddles and swamps everywhere; one could easily have an accident if not careful.
Along the way, the three of them cleared weeds as they moved forward.
“Make it obvious! It's best to let them know someone has been here so they'll come over,” Qin Mo said while walking with difficulty.
“Understood!” The two nodded and used the small knives in their hands to hack vigorously at the weeds by the roadside, forcibly cutting out a path.
Qin Mo was even afraid they wouldn't see it, so he stomped a few footprints hard on the ground and threw some paper from his person onto the path.
Before long, the three finally arrived at the big canyon Qin Mo mentioned.
The three spent another half day climbing up the canyon.
The canyon was several dozen meters deep, and from above, one could clearly see every corner inside the canyon. The top was a natural sniper's paradise.
The wild grass all around became the best barrier for the trio; it could be said that it was easy to defend and difficult to attack.
Afterward, the three exchanged a look and hunkered down nearby, just waiting for the prey to take the bait.
