152: Chapter 152 Arrival on the Deserted Island
Qin Mo immediately furrowed his brows; he wasn't a god, he was only human.
Saving everyone had already exhausted all his efforts, and now they were in the middle of the vast ocean...
"Lo... Look, everyone!"
While Qin Mo was lost in thought, a New Recruit suddenly pointed somewhere and shouted excitedly.
Everyone instinctively looked in that direction and immediately began to shout with joy.
"An... An island!"
"We found it! We found it! There's an island! There really is an island!"
"Everyone, swim faster!"
...
Their vision had been blocked by the early morning sea mist, but the mist had vanished at some point.
Everyone discovered an island appearing not far away and sped up, swimming toward it.
At this moment, the joy in everyone's hearts was beyond words; having just survived such a dangerous situation, seeing the island was like going from hell to heaven.
...
Inside the Navy Command Center, a group of Commanders looked at Qin Mo and the New Recruits with relief, and everyone smiled.
"Brigade Commander, look at this kid Qin Mo; he actually knows how to scout terrain. He's the perfect candidate for a scout! How about transferring him to my Reconnaissance Unit?"
A middle-aged man pointed at Qin Mo on the large screen and spoke.
Before the Brigade Commander could speak, another veteran retorted, "Old Li, you're full of crap! This kid is clearly a born Army Soldier. I say we just transfer him to our unit; in less than a year, he'll be another Soldier King!"
"Old Li, Old Wang! Shut the hell up, both of you!"
A Commander cursed angrily and then continued:
"I've looked into it; before joining the military, this kid already had profound expertise in information networks."
"He once helped Elder Li prevent an information leak and even counter-monitored the enemy, making the Beautiful Country pay a heavy price!"
"He's a natural talent for the Information Department. With a little training, he'll be a strong Information Shield for our entire country! So, Brigade Commander, you must transfer him to our department. Future wars will all be Information Warfare."
"So any Soldier Kings you're talking about can step aside!"
The Commander glanced at the two of them with disdain.
"Nonsense!"
The two of them glared at the Commander.
"Old Chen, do you want to go at it? Don't forget, I was the one who taught you how to shoot when you joined the army. Technically, I'm your senior. You dare to snatch someone from me? Are you rebelling?"
"Exactly! Old Chen, Old Li and I are both your seniors. Is your skin itching for a beating? You dare to compete with us for him?"
"Damn it, Old Li, Old Wang, don't try to flaunt your seniority with me. I'm not buying it. I just happened to practice a set of Military Boxing recently. If you want to go, I'm ready anytime!"
"Hey! You bastard..."
"Enough, enough!"
The Brigade Commander interrupted the three of them crossly.
"Let me tell you, this kid belongs to Tiger. If you want to poach him, go talk to Tiger."
"As for whether Tiger will skin you alive, that's none of my business!"
The veteran gave a helpless, bitter smile upon hearing that.
"Brigade Commander, you know Tiger's temper. That kid is a hothead; he really would dare to make a move!"
"Yeah! Brigade Commander, how would we dare ask him for anyone? That kid is so stubborn!"
The Commander nearby also chimed in. "Well, I don't care! I've told you the method. I don't want Tiger to hold a grudge against me. Even though I am a Brigade Commander, if that kid Tiger goes wild, I'm afraid he'll put a snakeskin bag over my head and beat me up at night!"
"Is that kid really such a rascal?"
All three widened their eyes. They had heard Tiger was fierce, but they hadn't heard he was that insane!
The Brigade Commander said exasperatedly, "He really would! There's nothing that kid wouldn't dare to do!"
"Hiss!"
All three gasped.
From the sound of it, had the Brigade Commander actually been beaten like that?
At that thought, the three of them couldn't help but look at the Brigade Commander with pity.
"Enough! Tell Tiger he doesn't need to help Qin Mo and the others. Have them continue searching along the coastline for Zhao Wu and the rest."
The Brigade Commander said irritably.
...
Meanwhile, Qin Mo finally landed on the island.
As soon as they reached the shore, Zhang Qiang's brother immediately performed CPR on him, while others quickly went to find dry wood nearby.
Having been soaked in the sea for so long, they were at risk of hypothermia at any moment.
Before long, a campfire was lit, and everyone gathered around.
"He's awake! He's awake!"
Just then, a surprised shout rang out.
Everyone immediately ran toward Wang Qiang's position.
Sure enough, after spitting up several mouthfuls of seawater, Wang Qiang finally woke up.
Everyone cheered.
Then, Wang Qiang's brother pulled Wang Qiang over to Qin Mo.
"Brother Mo! My name is Wang Gang! Thank you for saving my brother! I, Wang Gang, swear here and now that you are our boss from now on!"
Qin Mo smiled and nodded, not refusing.
"Thank you, Brother Mo! Thank you for saving me!"
Wang Qiang also thanked him along with Wang Gang. His brother had already told him what happened; Qin Mo had risked his life to save him.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call it a life-saving grace.
However, his face was still a bit pale, as if he hadn't quite recovered yet.
Qin Mo waved his hand, not minding at all.
Then, everyone gathered around the campfire to warm themselves. After all, their clothes were wet, and they could get sick at any time.
"Where are we?"
A New Recruit asked hesitantly.
"This..."
Everyone instinctively looked around.
The entire island was shaped like a huge triangle. One corner of the triangle was where they were staying, surrounded by sand dunes with very little vegetation.
Inside the island was a dense, impenetrable forest.
"It looks like a deserted island."
Qin Mo said slowly after observing for a moment.
"Sigh~"
Everyone sighed. Did this mean they would have to sleep in the wild tonight?
...
In the blink of an eye, the sun had risen, and after several hours of roasting, everyone's clothes were completely dry.
Qin Mo walked to the shore and frowned as he looked out at the boundless sea.
Logically, since they had swum to this island, the military should have come to pick them up, especially since they encountered an Undersea Cliff.
The army couldn't be this irresponsible, so why was there no sign of them?
Was this not a training exercise? Was this really an emergency?
However, what Qin Mo didn't know was that a large number of military personnel had gone to search for Zhao Wu and the others...
*Growl*
A sound of hunger came from his stomach, and Qin Mo instinctively rubbed it.
Come to think of it, he hadn't eaten for a whole day...
