102: Chapter 102 Relatives Come to Borrow Money

The moment the main door opened, a scent mixed with cheap perfume and stale tobacco forced its way into the house's fresh air system.

"Oh my goodness! So this is Longwan No. 1?"

Second Aunt, with her permed afro, was the first to stick her head in. Her eyes bulged like copper bells, looking as if she wanted to peel the Swarovski crystal chandelier right off the ceiling of the foyer. Without even changing her shoes, she stepped onto the six-figure Persian rug with her mud-stained leather boots.

"My goodness, are these floor tiles made of jade? How much does this cost per square meter?" Eldest Uncle followed close behind, clutching a carton of discounted milk that looked a bit damp. His neck was stretched out long, like a rat that had just entered a granary.

The various aunts and uncles following behind swarmed in, and the dozen or so people instantly packed the spacious foyer tight.

Su Wanqing stood at the door, watching this group of blood-related "relatives" with cold eyes.

Half a minute ago, she was still wondering if she should save them some face.

Now, seeing Second Aunt's dirty hand reaching for the antique vase on the foyer cabinet, the last bit of hesitation in her heart shattered.

"Wanqing! You little brat, you made it big and didn't even tell the family!" Second Aunt turned around, a fake smile plastered on her face that even the thick layer of powder couldn't hide. She set two bunches of bananas covered in black spots onto the shoe cabinet. "Second Aunt heard your father was sick and specifically bought imported bananas to see him. Look, this is good stuff!"

Imported bananas?

Su Wanqing glanced at the label; it was the kind of produce sold for two yuan a bunch in the clearance section of the wet market downstairs.

"You're not changing your shoes?" Su Wanqing's voice was cold. She didn't submissively bring out slippers like she used to.

"Change shoes for what? We're all family, don't be so formal!" Eldest Uncle waved his hand dismissively and sat straight down on the leather sofa in the living room, even bouncing his buttocks a few times. "Heh, so soft! This sofa is more comfortable than the bed at my house! Wanqing, pour me a cup of tea. I want that Da Hong Pao stuff, don't try to fool me with tea scraps."

The group acted as if they owned the place, touching everything in the living room. Some took out phones to photograph the hundred-inch TV, while others even tried to barge into the upstairs bedrooms.

Chen Fan remained leaning against the kitchen doorway peeling an orange, popping segments into his mouth one by one, with absolutely no intention of interfering.

He had promised that Su Wanqing would be the protagonist of tonight's show.

Su Wanqing didn't move, let alone pour tea. She walked to the coffee table and looked down at Eldest Uncle, who was sitting with his legs crossed.

"Eldest Uncle, when I called you from the hospital the night before last, you said you were playing mahjong and had no money."

The smug expression on Eldest Uncle's face stiffened for a moment before he brazenly broke into a grin again. "Oh, Wanqing, why are you such a grudge-holding child? At that time, your Eldest Uncle was... his luck was just bad, I was losing so much I was seeing red. Besides, heart disease is a rich man's illness; how could an ordinary family like ours afford to treat it? Your Eldest Uncle was doing it for your own good, fearing you'd lose both the person and the money."

"That's right, Wanqing." Second Aunt also crowded over, shoving Su Wanqing aside as she sat down. "Look how great things are now. Your dad didn't die, and you're living in a big villa. This just shows it was heaven's will! Oh right, I saw two cars parked in the courtyard just now. That Mercedes... is it just sitting there?"

Finally, the daggers were drawn.

Su Wanqing crossed her arms. "What are you trying to say, Second Aunt?"

"Well, you see, your cousin is about to go on a blind date, and the girl's side requires a car. Since your family has so many cars, why not lend us one to drive?" Second Aunt spoke with total entitlement, spit flying everywhere. "And this house is so big, how could a family of four possibly use it all? Bring your cousin over to stay for a few days to soak up some of the good fortune; it'll help him find a partner later."

Borrow a car? Move in?

The other relatives nearby also started chiming in all at once.

"That's right, Wanqing, one mustn't forget their roots."

"You're a big boss's wife now. Just a little leak from between your fingers would be enough to feed us for a year."

"Hurry up and give me twenty thousand yuan; my grandson needs to pay his sponsorship fee."

Greedy faces twisted under the lights, looking as if they wanted to swallow this home whole.

Su Wanqing looked at them and suddenly laughed.

There was no warmth in that smile, only a bone-chilling coldness.

"Borrow a car? Borrow money? Live in the house?"

She suddenly grabbed the freshly peeled orange skin from the coffee table and slammed it onto the floor.

Snap!

With the crisp sound, the living room fell instantly silent.

Eldest Uncle shuddered, nearly dropping the solid gold lighter he had just picked up.

"When my dad was lying in the emergency room waiting for money to save his life, every single one of you hid faster than ghosts! You hung up the phone and blocked us on WeChat, terrified of getting even a speck of trouble on yourselves!"

Su Wanqing pointed at Eldest Uncle's nose, her finger trembling from pure rage. "Now that you see we have money, you come to our door one by one with rotten bananas and expired milk to claim kinship? Do you have no shame?!"

"Su Wanqing! How dare you speak to your elders like that!" Eldest Uncle's shame turned into anger as he slammed the table and stood up. "So you have a few stinking coins, big deal! Believe it or not, I'll go out and spread word of your unfilial behavior so you won't be able to show your face in this neighborhood!"

"Exactly! You ungrateful wolf!" Second Aunt also put her hands on her hips. "If we don't leave, let's see what you can do to us! If you don't give us money today, we're sleeping right here!"

This group was clearly prepared to throw a tantrum and make a scene.

Chen Fan swallowed the last segment of the orange and clapped his hands.

"Wife, have you vented enough?"

Su Wanqing took a deep breath and looked back at Chen Fan. Her eyes were rimmed with red, but her gaze was incredibly firm. "Yes. Make them get out."

"You got it."

Chen Fan snapped his fingers.

"Men, see the guests out."

As soon as he finished speaking, the side door was kicked open.

Eight burly men in black suits and sunglasses rushed in. These weren't ordinary security guards; they were elites Chen Muyang had transferred from the Huihuang Group's security department, each one muscular and radiating a murderous aura.

Eldest Uncle was about to throw a tantrum when he was hoisted up by two men in black like a little chick.

"Hey! What are you doing! This is assault! Murder!" Eldest Uncle's feet left the ground as he kicked desperately.

"Shut up." A man in black coldly spat out two words and applied pressure with his hand. Eldest Uncle howled like a slaughtered pig and immediately behaved.

Second Aunt's face turned pale with fright, and she clung to the pillar of the shoe cabinet, refusing to let go. "I'm her Second Aunt! You can't seize me! Wanqing! Wanqing, you can't be this heartless!"

"Throw their things out too," Chen Fan ordered nonchalantly.

A bodyguard grabbed the two bunches of rotten bananas and the carton of damp milk, and without even a glance, tossed them directly out the door.

"Ah!"

Accompanied by several screams and the sound of heavy objects hitting the ground, the dozen or so people were thrown out of the villa's main gate like trash, along with their gifts.

Bang!

The heavy security door slammed shut, cutting off all the cursing and wailing in another world.

The house was finally quiet.

Su Wanqing felt as if her strength had been drained. Her body went soft, and she began to fall backward.

Chen Fan was quick, catching her by the waist and letting her lean into his embrace.

"Old Chen..." Su Wanqing buried her face in his chest, and tears finally fell. It wasn't sadness, but relief and a sense of being wronged. "Was I too cruel?"

"Cruel?" Chen Fan stroked her hair, his tone as gentle as if he were coaxing a child. "Wife, how can you deal with jackals if you don't have a shotgun in your hand? What you did today isn't called being cruel; it's called cleaning house. Even if our money was fake money blown in by the wind, it's for our own family to spend, not for feeding dogs."

Su Wanqing laughed through her tears and gave his chest a playful punch.

Just then, the phone in Chen Fan's pocket rang.

It was a call from President Li Jishi.

Chen Fan picked up the phone, listened for a moment, and a bright smile appeared on his face.

"Wife, stop crying and fix your makeup."

"What's wrong?" Su Wanqing looked up, her eyes red like a rabbit's.

Chen Fan showed her the phone screen. On it was a photo of Su Guohua sitting on a hospital bed eating porridge, looking full of energy.

"Our dad is awake, and all his vitals are normal. President Li said the old man is grumbling in the ward about the hospital fees being too expensive and making a fuss about being discharged."

Chen Fan took Su Wanqing's hand and walked toward the door.

"Come on, let's go bring Dad home."
