202: Chapter 202 Buying the Louvre's Schedule

Inside the study of the courtyard house.

Chen Nianyao stood before the desk.

“Go to the Louvre Museum?” Chen Nianyao’s mouth opened slightly.

The Louvre Museum was the world's highest temple of art.

Its vetting process was extremely rigorous.

“Hao Yu, contact the Curator of the Louvre Museum.” Chen Fan leaned back in his chair.

Chen Haoyu took out an encrypted phone and dialed an international long-distance number.

The call connected.

Chen Haoyu exchanged a few sentences in fluent French before turning on the speakerphone.

The arrogant French of Pierre, the Curator of the Louvre Museum, came through the speaker.

“Mr. Chen, this is Pierre.”

“The Louvre Museum's schedule is already booked for the next five years.”

“Furthermore, we only exhibit world-class artworks with historical significance.”

“One cannot simply enter just because they have money.”

Pierre's tone carried a sense of lofty superiority.

Chen Fan did not get angry.

He awakened the system in his mind.

“Search for clues regarding lost French national treasures.”

[System Prompt: Search completed.]

[Target One: Scepter of the First French Empire, currently stored in the Ross Family's secret vault.]

[Target Two: The ‘Tears of the Sun’ sapphire from the crown of Louis XIV, currently in the hands of a private collector in the UK.]

Chen Fan looked at the information on the light screen.

The Ross Family had just signed a transfer agreement; retrieving the scepter would be as easy as turning over his hand.

As for the collector in the UK, the capital of the Huihuang Group was enough to make him bow his head.

Chen Fan tapped the tabletop.

“Curator Pierre,” Chen Fan spoke into the phone, “In my personal name, I will donate one billion euros to the French Cultural Heritage Foundation for free.”

The other end of the line went quiet.

Only Pierre’s heavy breathing could be heard.

One billion euros was an astronomical sum.

“Furthermore,” Chen Fan continued to raise the stakes, “Within thirty days, the Huihuang Group will return the Scepter of the First French Empire and the ‘Tears of the Sun’ sapphire to the French government, free of charge.”

“Clatter!”

The sound of a chair falling over came through the phone.

Pierre's stuttering voice followed.

“Mr... Mr. Chen! Are you serious?”

“The scepter has been missing for half a century!”

“The Huihuang Group never breaks its word,” Chen Fan said in a steady tone.

“My God!” Pierre exclaimed over the phone, “Mr. Chen, you are a forever friend of France!”

“The central hall of the Louvre Museum, the most core exhibition space in the Richelieu Wing—I will have it cleared out immediately!”

“I will personally deliver the invitation to you!”

The call ended.

Chen Nianyao stared blankly at Chen Fan.

One billion euros, plus two priceless national treasures.

Just to hold an art exhibition for her.

Less than twenty-four hours later.

A private jet landed at the Imperial Capital International Airport.

Pierre, along with several staff members, rushed to the courtyard house without stopping.

In the main hall of the courtyard house.

Pierre, wearing a sharp suit, held a gold-embossed invitation in both hands.

He walked up to Chen Nianyao and bowed deeply.

“Miss Chen, the Louvre Museum is deeply honored to exhibit your masterpieces,” Pierre said with extreme respect. “All gallery arrangements will be carried out exactly according to your requirements.”

Chen Nianyao took the invitation.

It was stamped with the official seal of the Louvre Museum.

The day before yesterday, she had been kicked out of the National Art Museum.

Today, the curator of the world's highest temple of art had personally flown to the Imperial Capital to bow to her.

Chen Nianyao turned around and threw herself into Chen Fan's arms.

She kissed Chen Fan hard on the cheek.

“Dad, thank you!” Chen Nianyao’s eyes grew red.

Chen Fan patted his daughter's back.

“Go and prepare. Let the whole world see my daughter's paintings.”

Half a month later.

Chen Nianyao's solo art exhibition opened grandly at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

The exhibition caused a sensation in the global art world.

Inside the Richelieu Wing of the Louvre Museum.

The central hall was brightly lit.

Chen Nianyao's paintings hung in the most prominent positions.

Members of European royal families and representatives of top financial magnates were all in attendance.

Old Ross even came in a wheelchair to show his support.

Those in the country who had once mocked the Chen family were collectively silenced.

When Old Qi saw the news from his hospital bed, he was so enraged that his condition worsened, and he was sent straight to the emergency room.

Time passed.

Imperial Capital University welcomed the graduation season.

The campus was filled with students in academic gowns taking photos.

Chen Muyang walked to the bottom of the library building holding two cups of iced coffee.

He planned to officially confess his feelings to Lin Wanqiu after the graduation ceremony.

He waited for half an hour.

Lin Wanqiu walked out of the library.

Her head was down, and her pace was hurried.

Chen Muyang went to meet her.

“Wanqiu, want to have dinner together tonight?” Chen Muyang handed her the coffee.

Lin Wanqiu looked up.

Her eyes were red and swollen, and her face was pale.

Seeing Chen Muyang, she took half a step back and did not take the coffee.

“I'm sorry, I have something to do.” Lin Wanqiu's voice was raspy as she bypassed Chen Muyang and left quickly.

Chen Muyang watched her back, his brow furrowing.

Lin Wanqiu had been avoiding him for the past few days.

Chen Muyang took out his phone and dialed the number of the head of the Shadow Guard.

“Investigate what happened at Lin Wanqiu's home,” Chen Muyang ordered.

Ten minutes later.

The investigation report was sent to Chen Muyang's phone.

Lin Wanqiu's father had suffered an investment failure in Jiangnan Province, leading to a broken capital chain.

The Lin family owed three billion to the Wu Family, the wealthiest family in Jiangnan.

Wu Tian, the Young Master of the Wu Family, had taken an interest in Lin Wanqiu.

Wu Tian had put out word: either Lin Wanqiu marries him, or the Lin family undergoes bankruptcy liquidation and Father Lin goes to prison.

Lin Wanqiu had already completed the withdrawal procedures from school.

She was taking a 3 PM flight back to Jiangnan to get married.

Chen Muyang gripped his phone tightly.

His knuckles cracked.

He turned and strode toward the parking lot.

In the waiting hall of the Imperial Capital International Airport.

Lin Wanqiu dragged her suitcase.

Her tears wouldn't stop falling.

The three-billion debt was crushing her.

Father Lin sighed over the phone, and Mother Lin spent all day washing her face with tears.

The bodyguards sent by Wu Tian were staring at her from outside the airport.

She couldn't involve Chen Muyang.

Although the Chen family was wealthy, three billion in cash was not a small amount.

She couldn't let Chen Muyang offend the local tyrant of Jiangnan for her sake.

“Attention all passengers...” The boarding announcement played over the intercom.

Lin Wanqiu wiped her tears and took a step forward.

A large hand reached out from the side and snatched her suitcase away.

Lin Wanqiu turned her head in shock.

Chen Muyang stood before her.

His chest was heaving slightly, and sweat beaded on his forehead.

Several of the Wu Family's bodyguards surrounded them from behind.

“Kid, don't meddle in things that don't concern you!” The lead bodyguard reached out to grab Chen Muyang's shoulder.

Chen Muyang grabbed the bodyguard's wrist with a backhand and snapped it forcefully.

The sound of bone breaking rang out.

The bodyguard screamed and collapsed to the ground.

The other bodyguards, seeing this, didn't dare to step forward.

“I won't allow you to leave,” Chen Muyang stared at her.

“Give me back my luggage.” Lin Wanqiu reached out to grab it, her voice carrying a sob, “Stop worrying about me.”

“Why didn't you tell me about the three-billion debt?” Chen Muyang did not back down.

Lin Wanqiu broke down.

“What's the use of telling you!” Lin Wanqiu cried out, “Three billion! Not three hundred! The Wu Family covers the sky with one hand in Jiangnan, what do you have to fight them with!”

Chen Muyang smiled.

He threw the suitcase to the side.

He reached out and pulled Lin Wanqiu forcefully into his arms.

He held her tightly.

“Three billion?” Chen Muyang looked down into her eyes, his tone domineering, “To buy you for a lifetime, that's far too cheap.”

Lin Wanqiu was stunned.

Chen Muyang took out his phone.

“Prepare a private jet,” Chen Muyang spoke into the phone, “We're going to Jiangnan to meet this 'wealthiest man'.”

Lin Wanqiu’s eyes widened.

“What are you going to do?” Lin Wanqiu's voice tightened.

“To crash his engagement party,” Chen Muyang said calmly.
