257: Chapter 257 Preparations for the Wedding of the Century
The top-floor office of Huihuang Group.
Chen Muyang's expression didn't change after hearing Lin Wanqiu's words.
"Five percent of the shares?" Chen Muyang took the so-called joint letter, and without even looking at it, threw it directly into the trash can. "Five percent of the entire Huihuang Group is worth hundreds of billions. They have quite an appetite; aren't they afraid of choking to death?"
Lin Wanqiu gritted her teeth.
"Muyang, I'll handle this myself. I'll call security to kick them out right now." Lin Wanqiu turned to leave.
Chen Muyang grabbed her hand.
"You can't hide from it. If you kick them out once, they'll go to the major media outlets and newspapers to make a scene tomorrow." Chen Muyang led Lin Wanqiu outside. "To deal with these kinds of bloodsuckers, you can't reason with them. You have to pull out their teeth once and for all."
The first-floor lobby.
Normal business had come to a standstill. Several lobby managers were sweating profusely while pulling up cordon tape.
A white-haired old man wearing an old cloth shirt sat on the marble floor. He was Lin Wanqiu's Second Great-Uncle. Behind him were seven or eight men and women, holding a white banner.
On it was written: "The Lin family's unfilial daughter clings to the powerful and wealthy, forgetting her roots."
"If we don't see Lin Wanqiu today, we're not leaving!" the Second Great-Uncle shouted, slapping his thigh. "Our Lin family raised her for so long, and now that she's marrying into a multi-billion dollar family, she won't even give her elders a sip of soup! Where is the justice in that!"
A crowd of onlookers had gathered around. Some people were taking secret photos with their phones.
The security captain was pacing anxiously, but he didn't dare lay a hand on the old man.
*Ding.*
The doors of the president's private elevator on the first floor opened.
Chen Muyang walked out, holding Lin Wanqiu's hand.
The lobby fell silent for a moment.
Seeing Lin Wanqiu, the Second Great-Uncle scrambled up from the floor and brushed the dust off his buttocks.
"Wanqiu! You're finally willing to come down!" The Second Great-Uncle pointed at Lin Wanqiu's nose. "Sign a contract with Huihuang Group immediately! Transfer five percent of the shares to my name as the Lin family's betrothal gift. Otherwise, don't even think about stepping out of this door today!"
Lin Wanqiu trembled with rage.
"Second Great-Uncle, where were you when my father went bankrupt and jumped off a building?" Lin Wanqiu's knuckles turned white. "Back then, I went door-to-door begging you for money to save his life, and you wouldn't even open the door! And now you're here for a betrothal gift?"
"That's one thing, this is another!" The Second Great-Uncle stiffened his neck. "The Lin family raised you, so you must repay that kindness!"
Several relatives behind him also chimed in.
"Exactly! Now that you've flown up the branch and become a phoenix, you have to share some with your relatives!"
"Without our Lin family's upbringing, would you be able to marry Young Director Chen?"
Chen Muyang let go of Lin Wanqiu's hand and took a step forward.
He took out his phone and pressed a button.
The Legal Department Director of Huihuang Group, accompanied by three lawyers and carrying a thick stack of documents, walked over quickly from the side.
Chen Muyang took the documents and threw them directly in the Second Great-Uncle's face.
A4 papers scattered all over the floor.
"Take a good look." Chen Muyang's voice wasn't loud. "Eight years ago, the Lin family's company suffered a break in its capital chain. It was you people who conspired to forge supplier accounts and made off with the Lin family's last twelve million in life-saving money. That was also the direct cause of Lin Wanqiu's father jumping off the building."
As the Second Great-Uncle clearly saw the transfer records on the ground, his expression changed.
Those old accounts—he thought they had been destroyed long ago. How could they have all been found?
"You... you're talking nonsense! These are all forgeries!" The Second Great-Uncle took two steps back.
"Whether they're forgeries or not, you can tell the police." Chen Muyang raised his wrist and checked the time. "It only took thirty seconds for the Pangu Computing Center to look into your petty affairs. The evidence has already been submitted to the Economic Investigation Brigade."
Chen Muyang pointed to the white banner on the floor.
"Besides occupational embezzlement and economic fraud, let's add another one now." Chen Muyang looked at the group of relatives. "Gathering a crowd to cause trouble and suspected extortion of shares worth hundreds of billions from Huihuang Group. The amount involved is exceptionally large."
The Second Great-Uncle's legs began to tremble.
Extorting hundreds of billions—this charge was enough to have them executed ten times over.
"No... we don't want the shares anymore! We'll leave right now!" The Second Great-Uncle turned to run out the door.
Sirens blared loudly outside.
Several police cars stopped right at the entrance. Fully armed police officers rushed into the lobby.
"Take them all away. The Huihuang Group Legal Department will follow up throughout the process and seek the maximum sentence." Chen Muyang instructed the Legal Director.
In less than two minutes, peace was restored to the lobby.
The white banner was thrown into a garbage truck. Several relatives were escorted into police cars, wailing and crying.
Lin Wanqiu stood where she was, tears streaming down her cheeks.
The grievances she had suppressed in her heart for so many years were finally settled today.
Chen Muyang walked over and reached out to wipe away her tears.
"Don't cry." Chen Muyang pulled her into his arms. "From today on, the Chen family will be your backing. My money is for you alone to spend."
Lin Wanqiu nodded and buried her head in his chest.
...
The next morning.
Longwan No. 1 Courtyard House.
France's top wedding dress design team was measuring Lin Wanqiu in the guest room. Dozens of boxes of hand-sewn fabrics filled the hall.
Chen Fan sat in a grandmaster's chair in the main room, looking at the long wedding preparation list in his hand.
Chen Haoyu stood before the table, reporting.
"Boss, the venue is set for that private island numbered 07 in the Pacific Ocean. The island's freshwater system and independent power station have been completed." Chen Haoyu swiped on his tablet. "Five hundred invitations have been sent out globally. All guests will travel on our private charter flights."
Chen Fan took a sip of tea.
"Set no limit on the budget. Raise the security level to the maximum." Chen Fan placed the list on the table. "Tell the Shadow Guard that on the wedding day, not even an unregistered bird is allowed to fly within a hundred nautical miles of the island."
"Understood," Chen Haoyu nodded.
Just then, the secure communicator in Chen Haoyu's pocket vibrated.
He took out the device, glanced at it, and his expression changed.
"Boss, something has happened." Chen Haoyu looked up, his tone urgent.
Chen Fan put down his teacup.
"The construction crew on private island 07 hit something hard while digging the foundation for the underground wine cellar." Chen Haoyu pushed the screen in front of Chen Fan.
On the screen was a high-definition photo sent back from the scene.
In the yellow mud deep within the island, a large piece of silver-gray metal plating was exposed. There wasn't a speck of rust on the metal plate, which was covered in extremely complex rivet structures.
Most strangely, in the center of the metal plate, a blurred black Double-headed eagle emblem was printed.
This was no natural mineral vein.
This was a giant metal sealed chamber buried deep underground.
"The construction crew scanned it with an ultrasonic detector." Chen Haoyu lowered his voice. "The volume of this metal chamber is staggering. Moreover, the instruments show a very strong magnetic field reaction inside."
Chen Fan stared at the photo.
That black Double-headed eagle emblem belonged to a massive empire that had collapsed during World War II.
There was something hidden beneath the island. And it was definitely not just some ordinary scrap metal.
