122: The medicine was not very effective.

Su Mianmian wanted Shi Xu to willingly allow Wu Yao to join.

After a moment of silence, Shi Xu looked up and saw Su Mianmian gazing at him with a worried expression, which made him want to tease her.

"Mianmian, if I don't let him join, will you be unhappy?"

"If you don't feel strongly about it, then I'll..."

Shi Xu didn't finish his sentence, and Su Mianmian looked at him in confusion, a little curious as to why he stopped speaking.

She didn't know how to answer him; she had a feeling his question was a trap.

Su Mianmian hesitated for a moment, thinking his words sounded more like a test.

She thought for a bit and finally spoke from her heart: "I'd be happy if he joined, but I'd feel a little regretful if he didn't."

After Su Mianmian finished speaking, Shi Xu became somewhat curious.

Is this Wu Yao really that outstanding?

As if sensing Shi Xu's confusion, Su Mianmian thought for a moment and explained, "I think he's someone who can help us."

It was a simple sentence, but Shi Xu understood it clearly.

Since he was someone Su Mianmian approved of, Shi Xu believed this Wu Yao must have some extraordinary qualities.

Although he hadn't seen it yet, he felt that Wu Yao might give him a surprise in the future.

Shi Xu nodded and agreed, "Since it's something that will make you happy, then I agree."

Su Mianmian looked up at Shi Xu in shock, not expecting him to agree so readily.

She had just been wondering how to make him agree willingly, and yet... Su Mianmian was momentarily speechless.

She scrutinized Shi Xu with a puzzled expression, seemingly trying to peer into his mind through his expression to see what he was thinking.

Shi Xu looked at her puzzled face and smiled at her.

"You know, I will never refuse you anything."

"I was just teasing you earlier."

No matter if Su Mianmian could come up with a reasonable explanation later, he would not refuse her this matter.

This Wu Yao seemed genuinely good, but he wondered what surprises he might bring later.

As Shi Xu thought of this, he suddenly felt a sense of anticipation.

Su Mianmian couldn't help but reach out and hug him, saying emotionally, "Shi Xu, you're so good."

Shi Xu hugged her back, saying helplessly, "Only now do you realize I'm good?"

Su Mianmian fell silent. How could she only now realize how good Shi Xu was?

She had always known how good Shi Xu was; she just sometimes got used to his kindness.

Su Mianmian smiled helplessly. Indeed, because Shi Xu was so good to her, she had become a little less afraid of him.

This wasn't good.

She looked up at Shi Xu, saying seriously, "Shi Xu, don't be too good to me, or I'll start walking all over you."

Su Mianmian's words made Shi Xu laugh. He reached out and ruffled her hair, messing it up a bit, before refuting, "No, I want to spoil you rotten, so you'll never be able to leave me."

Shi Xu made no attempt to hide what he was thinking; he wanted to directly tell Su Mianmian what his ambition was.

He wasn't afraid that she would be scared of him; he just wanted to tell her that she would never escape his grasp in this lifetime.

Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu's face, filled with possessiveness as he gazed at her, and her heart couldn't help but tremble.

Had she provoked a "devil"?

But what if Shi Xu was a devil?

She wasn't someone to be easily bullied either.

Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu fearlessly, their gazes intertwining as if in a battle.

In the end, Su Mianmian was the first to look away. She lowered her head and murmured, "Shi Xu, you always know how to bully me."

Hearing her words, Shi Xu couldn't help but flick her forehead.

It happened to hit right next to the swollen part of Su Mianmian's forehead, and she couldn't help but hiss in pain.

Shi Xu instinctively reached out to push aside the bangs on her forehead.

Su Mianmian realized his action and tried to turn her head away to stop him, but her strength was no match for his.

Shi Xu exerted a little control, and she stood still, unable to move.

He pushed aside Su Mianmian's hair and saw her slightly swollen forehead.

Seeing it, Shi Xu immediately showed a pained expression.

He looked at her sternly and said, "What happened? How did your forehead get swollen?"

Could it be that someone hit her?

Eight hundred thoughts flashed through Shi Xu's mind, but each one that arose, he immediately felt was wrong.

Su Mianmian sighed. She couldn't expose Su Jinxuan; she could only take the blame herself.

"Shi Xu, I was in too much of a hurry when I went out today, and I accidentally bumped into the door."

"Oh, it's nothing. Your expression makes it seem like I've suffered some very serious injury."

As Su Mianmian spoke, she noticed Shi Xu looking at her forehead with a completely displeased expression, and she silently sighed, complaining.

She genuinely felt it was nothing, and she didn't know why Shi Xu was looking at her with such an alarmed expression.

Anyone who didn't know better would think she was terminally ill and beyond saving.

Su Mianmian was helpless, only knowing that when Shi Xu had flicked her forehead just now, she had tried to hold back her cry of pain.

Unfortunately, she hadn't expected him to suddenly flick her forehead, so she hadn't managed to hold it in.

Shi Xu didn't speak. He pulled her to sit aside and went to the kitchen, doing who knew what.

Su Mianmian watched his retreating back and suddenly felt that she had been quite brave just now.

She knew how much Shi Xu cared about her, and yet she still dared to say that her injury was nothing.

If Shi Xu got angry, she might be lectured.

Just thinking about Shi Xu lecturing her like a tightening spell made her feel terrified.

Su Mianmian had just zoned out for a moment when Shi Xu returned with a bag of something.

She looked closely and saw it was a bag of ice.

"Shi Xu, when did we have ice cubes in the fridge?"

"I didn't even know."

Su Mianmian sometimes wanted to drink ice water, but she could never find ice cubes. She had thought there wasn't any in the fridge, but... So why couldn't she find any?

Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu curiously, seemingly wanting him to answer her dilemma.

Shi Xu didn't speak, carefully brushed her hair aside, and began to apply the ice pack to her.

Su Mianmian closed her eyes, enjoying the refreshing sensation as the ice touched her injured area.

After more than ten minutes, Shi Xu removed the ice pack.

He glanced at Su Mianmian's forehead and saw that the swollen area had reduced considerably.

Shi Xu breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that the injured spot looked much better.

"Even if you're in a hurry, you can't let yourself get hurt, understand?"

"If it happens again, I'll definitely punish you properly."

Shi Xu stared at Su Mianmian with a serious expression, his tone carrying a hint of earnestness.

Su Mianmian nodded. How could she dare to contradict him now?

He had been silent just now, probably sulking.

Su Mianmian sometimes felt really guilty.

When Su Mianmian returned to her room that evening, she was surprised to find that her room door had been covered with something soft.

She reached out and touched it, finding it quite thick.

Even if she slammed the door hard, she probably wouldn't feel anything.

Su Mianmian looked at it, knowing in her heart that Shi Xu had done it.

She smiled helplessly, yet her heart was incredibly touched.

He was truly using his actions to tell her that he didn't want to see her get hurt again.

Su Mianmian smiled sweetly. If they hadn't just said goodnight to each other, she would really want to go find Shi Xu and give him a tight hug to express her affection.

Days passed, and Su Mianmian and their plan was progressing little by little.

The temperature was also slowly rising. Su Mianmian watched the ice gradually melt and felt it was time to wrap things up.

Their ultimate destination wasn't here; if they were to leave, they had to resolve the matters here first.

Su Mianmian found Su Jinxuan and said, "Brother, the fish has taken the bait; we can cast the net."

Hearing this, Su Jinxuan looked delighted.

After waiting so long, they could finally cast the net.

"I understand. I'll go find Wu Yao now."

"He'll definitely be happy to hear this news."

"But have you successfully developed your medicinal powder yet?"

Su Jinxuan looked at Su Mianmian curiously, asking in confusion.

Su Mianmian shook her head and then nodded. Su Jinxuan, seeing her like this, was a little confused whether she had succeeded in developing it or not.

Su Mianmian seemed to understand his confusion and explained, "It's 80% successfully developed, but to have a better effect, we still need zombie core crystals.

But now it's icy and snowy, and we don't know where the zombies have gone. We can only get the core crystals when the weather gets warmer and they come out.

However, I think the current medicinal effect is already sufficient."
