140: Happiness is yet to come
"Mianmian, will you marry me?"
"If you marry me, I'll listen to everything you say, whatever you say goes, and I'll give you everything I have. Will you marry me?"
Shi Xu was wearing a black suit today, looking full of vigor, like a young man.
Su Mianmian wore a pure white wedding dress, her large tulle skirt trailing behind her, as if carrying her happiness.
Su Mianmian nodded. Although Shi Xu didn't follow the usual script, his words sounded even more sincere this way.
"Shi Xu, I will marry you. No matter what happens in the future, I won't regret choosing you. I will always love you."
Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu earnestly and nodded.
Shi Xu's eyes lit up. He couldn't help but hug Su Mianmian, kissing her lips.
The onlookers cheered excitedly at the sight.
Su Mianmian wasn't shy this time. She closed her eyes, happily accepting Shi Xu's gentle kiss.
Afterward, the two changed into their toasting outfits. Not many people came, but everyone present had been 'oppressed' by Shi Xu at some point, so they all toasted him today.
No one tried to get Su Mianmian to drink. She looked at Shi Xu, a little worried in her heart: could he still do *that* tonight?
She shook her head, unwilling to spoil their fun.
Never mind, if not tonight, then later!
After the reception, Shi Xu was dragged into the room by Su Jinxuan.
Su Mianmian followed him in and saw that he was completely unconscious. Suddenly, she felt a little like escaping.
"Mianmian, change his clothes for him!"
"I'm leaving now."
Su Jinxuan finished speaking and immediately ran off, afraid that Su Mianmian would ask him to help Shi Xu bathe and change clothes.
Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu, who was sprawled on the sofa, unable to get up. She briefly considered leaving him there to sober up on his own.
However, this thought only lasted a second before she shook her head, indicating that it wasn't a good idea.
As soon as she approached Shi Xu, intending to pull him to the bathroom, he opened his eyes and, with a swift movement, pulled her into his arms.
Su Mianmian was startled. She looked at Shi Xu blankly, unsure if he was acting drunk or just moving instinctively without being fully conscious.
She reached out and poked Shi Xu, asking softly, "Shi Xu, are you sober or not sober right now?"
Shi Xu looked at her with a smile, as if asking if she couldn't tell what state he was in.
Seeing this, Su Mianmian couldn't help but pat his shoulder.
"You were pretending to be drunk just now, and you did a pretty good job of it."
"Shi Xu, you're learning bad habits."
Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu with a look of disdain, complaining.
Heaven knew she had thought he was really drunk and had been incredibly worried. But it turned out... Su Mianmian suddenly felt that her worry had been misplaced.
Shi Xu noticed Su Mianmian's unhappiness and pleaded, "If I didn't pretend to be drunk, I would have really gotten drunk. Tonight is our wedding night, and I didn't want them to ruin it."
"They're just jealous, jealous that I'm married and they're still single, so they kept plying me with drinks. It's really too much."
Shi Xu must have been a little drunk too; he wasn't usually so talkative. Su Mianmian smiled at him and said nothing more.
Su Mianmian arranged for Shi Xu to shower first, and then she would go.
But just as Su Mianmian had found her clothes, Shi Xu came out wrapped only in a bath towel.
Su Mianmian looked at him in shock, not understanding why he would do that.
"Shi Xu, didn't you bring clothes?"
"Why did you just come out like that?"
Su Mianmian looked at him in shock, her face slightly red, feeling a little embarrassed.
Shi Xu smiled at her, saying calmly, "We're husband and wife now. Besides, tonight is our wedding night. If I wear clothes, won't I have to take them off later anyway?"
Su Mianmian couldn't refute a single thing Shi Xu said.
She went in to shower. The bathroom still held the warmth Shi Xu had left behind after his shower, and she felt unusually uncomfortable, quickly washed, and put on her clothes before coming out.
As soon as Su Mianmian came out, she didn't see Shi Xu and thought he wasn't there, letting out a sigh of relief.
But just as she relaxed, someone hugged her from behind.
Su Mianmian couldn't help but tremble all over, not daring to turn around.
Shi Xu chuckled, his breath hitting Su Mianmian's exposed skin, making her squirm with ticklishness.
Shi Xu smiled softly and kissed her from behind.
Before she knew it, his kisses reached her lips.
Su Mianmian no longer knew what day it was; she felt like a fish in a frying pan, letting Shi Xu turn her over and over.
Suddenly, a sharp pain struck. Su Mianmian instinctively cried out in pain, and Shi Xu stopped.
He carefully soothed her, showering her with affection.
Later, when he felt she could accept him, he gave his all.
Eventually, both of them became lost in this game called "love," unwilling to stop for a long time.
When Su Mianmian woke up the next day, she felt sore all over, but her body was very clean, without any sticky feeling.
This clearly showed it was Shi Xu's doing. Even though it ended very late, he was still able to take her to shower, which was impressive.
Su Mianmian smiled, and when she turned her head, she saw Shi Xu looking at her with a smile.
"Shi Xu, you haven't left yet."
Su Mianmian looked at him in surprise, asking in confusion.
Normally at this time, wasn't Shi Xu off handling official business?
"Mianmian, saying it like that makes it sound like I'm the one who paid for sex. You're my wife, how could I abandon you and leave on the first day?"
"I have honeymoon leave."
"Are you feeling any better now?"
Shi Xu looked down at Su Mianmian, asking with concern.
The naive Su Mianmian only thought Shi Xu was asking out of concern, but she didn't expect that after she shook her head, he suggested a morning exercise session.
Su Mianmian couldn't refuse and could only accept.
For several days, they spent their time like this. When Su Mianmian was hungry, Shi Xu would go out and bring her food.
Su Mianmian stayed in bed for several days, never going out.
It wasn't until Su Mianmian finally couldn't take it anymore and vehemently protested to Shi Xu that he gave her a little freedom.
As soon as Su Mianmian was able to go out, her first stop was Mother Shi's vegetable research base.
At this time, Mother Shi was busy inside. Su Mianmian looked at the thriving vegetables and rice, overjoyed.
"Mom, you guys are truly amazing."
"I believe it won't be long before we can achieve self-sufficiency."
Su Mianmian looked at Mother Shi with admiration, expressing her respect.
Mother Shi was very happy to see her. The two chatted for a while, then Su Mianmian went to find Xu Huan and the others.
She didn't know how far along their research on Ren Tingfeng's blood had come during this time, so she had to go and check.
When Xu Huan saw Su Mianmian, he immediately shared good news with her: "Sister-in-law, Ren Tingfeng's blood can inhibit the zombie virus. If injected promptly after a bite, it can maximally reduce the possibility of mutation."
Su Mianmian couldn't help but smile when she heard this news.
"Then have you found a way to replicate the useful factors in his blood?"
Su Mianmian didn't want Ren Tingfeng to make such a huge sacrifice. If possible, she hoped to use a replication method.
Xu Huan, of course, knew what she was thinking. He nodded, assuring her, "Of course, we've already figured out a way to replicate it. Next, we'll implement it."
Su Mianmian nodded. This matter was significant not only for their base but for all of humanity.
She believed that it wouldn't be long before the apocalypse would end, and humanity would surely defeat the zombies.
"Keep up the good work. We still have a lot to do, and the road ahead is long."
Su Mianmian looked at Xu Huan with a smile, speaking earnestly.
Xu Huan nodded. He looked up slightly and saw Shi Xu standing behind Su Mianmian. He smiled and gestured for Su Mianmian to look back.
Su Mianmian paused, then turned her head to look back. As she did, she met Shi Xu's overly sweet gaze.
Turn around, and happiness is right behind you.
She hoped everyone could find their own happiness.
