212: The thieves rob the thieves, the priest steals

“Forget him! Run!” One-Eyed Dragon’s expression was distorted as he desperately fled, pulling out a palm-sized silver cross from his Arms. It was covered in holy runes.

This was the life-saving trump card the Church had given him, a single-use high-level Sacred Artifact: the Purification Emblem.

He absolutely did not want to use it unless it was absolutely necessary; its value was higher than all the rewards from their current mission combined!

But now, he had no choice.

Seeing the second attack from the Vengeful Spirit Body Integration about to fall, One-Eyed Dragon gritted his teeth and fiercely threw it towards the giant eye in the sky!

“Holy Light! Purify this evil!” he roared with all his might.

The silver cross erupted with dazzling light in mid-air, like a small sun, instantly illuminating the night sky of the entire Black Crow Town.

The Holy Light violently collided with the overwhelming black mist, emitting a harsh “sizzle” sound, like hot oil poured into cold water.

The Vengeful Spirit Body Integration let out a painful roar, and its scarlet giant eyes even shed black blood under the Holy Light’s illumination.

Its giant claw, which was about to strike the ground, was also scorched by the Holy Light in mid-air, dissolving inch by inch.

“There’s a chance! It’s injured, don’t give it time to recover!” One-Eyed Dragon ordered when he saw this. “Attack it with the Soul-binding Chains!”

He could tell that although this Vengeful Spirit Body Integration was powerful, it was still very unstable due to its recent formation.

The Sacred Artifact had severely wounded it; now was the perfect time to counterattack!

They had to be fast!

If they could capture the Soul of this Body Integration, its value would be a hundred times that of an ordinary wailer!

The remaining mercenaries exchanged glances, seeing the madness in each other’s eyes.

They roared, throwing all the Soul-binding Chainss they held towards the constantly swirling black mist in the sky.

Just then.

Creak—

The heavily shut white church door slowly opened.

A team of people walked out from inside.

Leading them was a middle-aged man dressed in a magnificent white priest’s robe, holding a scepter inlaid with a white crystal at its tip. His expression was arrogant, and his eyes showed impatience.

Behind him followed four Judgment Knightss clad in silver armor and wielding greatswords, along with more than ten ordinary church personnel holding wooden staffs.

This lineup was far more powerful than the two white-robed figures who had previously stopped Mo Yan.

“Father Leo, look, it’s that group of mercenaries,” a Knight whispered beside the leading priest.

Father Leo looked up, his gaze sweeping past the scrambling mercenaries and locking onto the Vengeful Spirit Body Integration in the sky, which was being suppressed by the Holy Light and constantly roaring.

“What trash, they can’t even handle such a small matter and actually alarmed the Body Integration.” Father Leo scoffed disdainfully, but the corners of his mouth uncontrollably curled upwards, “However, it can be considered a lucky hit for them, offering a great gift to our Lord.”

The Holy Light erupted from the Purification Emblem, startling the people in the church.

Father Leo had initially thought a powerful heretic had broken in, but it turned out to be a group of idiots who had stirred up a hornet’s nest.

He leisurely walked towards the center of the battlefield.

“Stop your filthy actions, you lowly mercenaries.”

One-Eyed Dragon and his subordinates froze, turning to see the approaching church team, their faces instantly turning ugly.

“Father Leo…” One-Eyed Dragon retracted his Soul-binding Chains, forcing out a smile uglier than a cry, “Why have you come? We can handle this small trouble ourselves.”

“Handle?” Father Leo sneered, pointing his scepter at the giant vengeful spirit in the sky, “By yourselves? If it weren’t for the Sacred Artifact I bestowed upon you, you would already be a part of it.”

He looked down at One-Eyed Dragon and extended his hand: “Hand over the Soul Guiding Lantern and the captured Souls. The Lord will remember this merit. You can scram.”

His words were spoken as if it were a matter of course, like bestowing charity upon beggars.

One-Eyed Dragon’s single eye sharply narrowed, and the muscles in his face twitched.

Scram?

I risked my life and used my most precious trump card to deal with this situation, and with one sentence, you want me to scram?

You’re not even mentioning the promised reward?

The mercenaries behind him were also furious, veins bulging on their hands gripping their weapons.

“Father.” One-Eyed Dragon suppressed the rage in his heart and said in a deep voice, “You see, we paid a considerable price to deal with this big guy. The reward…”

Father Leo’s smile vanished, and his eyes turned cold.

“Are you questioning the Church’s decision? Or do you want to personally experience the taste of those Souls made into sacrifices, wailing in the Holy Fire?”

The four Judgment Knightss behind him stepped forward, their greatswords drawn, their cold Killing Intent locking onto all the mercenaries.

The atmosphere instantly became tense.

The mercenaries behind One-Eyed Dragon were all filled with surging bloodlust, emitting suppressed growls from their throats, like a group of beasts cornered.

“Boss!” A hot-tempered mercenary couldn’t help but roar, “Let’s fight them! At worst, it’s just death! I can’t stand this humiliation!”

“Shut up!” One-Eyed Dragon suddenly turned around, glaring fiercely at his subordinate with his single eye.

Fight? With what?

With these few pieces of scrap metal, to clash head-on with their fully enchanted armor and weapons?

He knew very well that if he dared to say no, the next second, these Judgment Knightss would not hesitate to chop them into meat paste. He had personally witnessed the Church’s methods for dealing with “heretics.”

Just as he struggled internally, preparing to give in, hand over the items, and accept his bad luck.

“Pfft!”

A soft sound.

The hot-tempered mercenary who had first shouted unbelievably lowered his head, looking at his chest pierced by a silver chain.

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but only large gushes of blood poured out.

“Noisy ants, the Lord’s ears do not tolerate Noise.” Father Leo’s face held a hint of morbid pleasure, as if he had merely crushed an annoying insect.

He was the one who acted.

No one saw how he struck; the chain seemed to appear out of thin air, instantly taking a life.

“Third Brother!”

All the mercenaries’ eyes instantly turned red.

“You sons of bitches in white robes! I’ll fight you!”

The accumulated anger and the death of their comrade completely ignited the ferocity of these desperadoes.

They no longer had any scruples, roaring and waving their weapons, charging towards the Church’s team.

“A bunch of ignorant fools,” Father Leo sneered dismissively, too lazy to act personally again, and stepped back.

“Purify them.”

“Yes, sir!”

The four Judgment Knightss, like four activated killing machines, met the charging mercenaries, swinging their greatswords.

The mercenaries’ weapons only left shallow marks at most when they struck the Tribulation Knights’ armor.

Meanwhile, the Knights’ greatswords, with every swing, carried a heavy whoosh, easily cleaving mercenaries, man and weapon, in half.

This was a slaughter without suspense.

At the moment his companions were consumed by rage and launched their attack, One-Eyed Dragon, instead, stopped.

His mind became clearer than ever before, and he intently watched the battlefield.

A beast-like fierce light flickered in his single eye, searching for that one-in-ten-thousand chance of survival.

He knew that his only way to survive was through the Vengeful Spirit Body Integration in the sky, which was being suppressed by the Holy Light!

If he could enrage it, make it completely berserk, perhaps he could create an opportunity for chaos!

His idea was very simple.

Since you won’t let us have an easy time, then no one will!

This Vengeful Spirit Body Integration is the great gift you want?

Then I’ll tear it to shreds first!

Even if I can’t tear it to shreds, I’ll make it completely insane and drag all you priests down with it!
