391: Offer them amnesty? You're not worthy!

Inside the private box, it was luxurious and quiet.

Mo Yan was leaning on a soft sofa, holding a crystal-clear Spirit Fruit that emitted a faint fruity aroma. He was absent-mindedly feeding it to Gun Gun, who was lying on his lap, sleeping soundly.

The little fellow smacked its lips, swallowed the fruit without even opening its eyes, and rolled over to continue sleeping.

Zhang Chen stood respectfully to the side, not even daring to breathe loudly.

He had just learned of He Yongping's purpose for coming, and his heart was in turmoil.

Amnesty?

What a joke!

With the Sacred Lord's current strength and status, let alone an ethereal military rank, even if the entire Dragon Country were given to him, he likely wouldn't even spare it a glance.

What on earth were those people in the official government thinking?

Have they still not recognized reality?

“Let him in.”

Mo Yan's voice rang out indifferently, showing no hint of emotion.

“Yes.” A guard took the order and opened the door to the box.

He Yongping took a deep breath, straightened his military uniform, and stepped inside.

When he saw the scene inside the box, he couldn't help but be momentarily stunned.

The floor was covered with a carpet made of exotic beast fur, shimmering scrolls hung on the walls, and the air was filled with the scent of sandalwood that calmed the mind.

And the young man who had stirred up the world's winds was leaning back like a boy next door, leisurely feeding a... panda?

This massive sense of contrast caused the mental draft He Yongping had prepared throughout his journey to instantly get stuck in his throat.

“General He, please sit.” Mo Yan pointed to the sofa opposite him, his tone very casual.

“What would you like to drink? I have Hundred-year Fruit Wine here, as well as freshly ripened Cloudtop Celestial Tea; it's quite refreshing.”

“No... no need, Mr. Mo Yan.” He Yongping waved his hands hurriedly and sat down on the sofa.

“Just speak your mind if you have business.” Mo Yan picked up Gun Gun and placed it on a nearby soft cushion.

He covered it with a small blanket before looking up at He Yongping. “I don't have much time; I still need to watch the next match.”

Looking into Mo Yan's eyes, which were as calm as still water, He Yongping felt the pressure in his heart intensify.

Gritting his teeth, he decided to get straight to the point.

“Mr. Mo Yan, I have come this time on behalf of the Dragon Country's highest decision-making level, representing the Chief, to have a formal talk with you.” He Yongping's tone was incredibly solemn.

“Oh?” Mo Yan raised an eyebrow.

“Talk about what? If you're here to ask for help on behalf of other countries whose dungeons are about to explode, then don't bother.”

“I've already made it very clear to Colonel Zhang. My rule is a 90-10 split.”

“This is about saving lives, not doing business. There is no room for bargaining.”

“No, not entirely,” He Yongping said, bracing himself.

“Regarding the matter of dungeon assistance, we have already reached a preliminary internal decision.”

“I came this time because I want to discuss something that is even more beneficial to both you and the Dragon Country.”

“I'm listening.” A playful arc curled at the corner of Mo Yan's mouth. He wanted to see what tricks these old guys could pull.

He Yongping felt his back get soaked with cold sweat. He spoke with difficulty: “The Chief's intention is... he hopes to... grant you amnesty and bring you into the fold.”

“Amnesty?”

Mo Yan laughed outright, as if he had heard the world's biggest joke.

He laughed so loudly that even Zhang Chen next to him was startled, his body tensing up even more.

“General He, are you sure you didn't use the wrong word? Amnesty?” Mo Yan asked slowly after he had laughed his fill.

“On what grounds? Based on your official title? Or based on those rank-and-file soldiers of yours who can be defeated by one of my subordinates with a single sword strike?”

He Yongping's face flushed red and white, appearing extremely embarrassed.

He had known this would be the result, but being mocked so mercilessly to his face by Mo Yan still made his face burn.

“Mr. Mo Yan, please don't be angry,” He Yongping explained hastily.

“We have no intention of slighting you in the least.”

“We are willing to establish a new military rank specifically for you, with a status that stands above all war zones!”

“We will grant you the highest command authority over all Professionals in the country!”

“Money, resources, status, privileges—as long as you ask and as long as we can afford it, we can give it!”

He blurted out all the conditions the Chief had provided in one go.

In his view, this was already the greatest sincerity the Dragon Country officials could offer.

It was almost equivalent to handing half of the Dragon Country over to Mo Yan.

However, after Mo Yan finished listening, he simply shook his head.

“It sounds very tempting. But, General He, have you ever considered one question?”

“What question?”

“Do I need these things?” Mo Yan asked back.

“Money? Do you think I lack money? From this Martial Arts Tournament alone, the money I've earned is likely more than the Dragon Country's annual military budget.”

“Resources? If I want resources, I can go directly to the Lord World to get them. They are better in quality and greater in quantity than yours.”

“Status? Privileges? Command authority?” Mo Yan sneered.

“If I say a single word now, the entire H City—even half of the Lords across the globe—would have to listen.”

“Do I need you to give me a legitimate identity?”

“When I, Mo Yan, do things, do I need to look at others' faces?”

“I am the rule!”

These words left He Yongping speechless and dripping with cold sweat.

The things he mentioned were dreams for ordinary people, and even for those S-Rank Geniuses.

But to the man before him, they were worthless.

Because what he wanted, he could get himself.

And he could get more, and better.

“Then... then what exactly do you want?” He Yongping was in despair; he felt he completely couldn't understand Mo Yan's thoughts.

“I don't want anything,” Mo Yan said indifferently.

“I only want to quietly develop my territory and protect my people.”

“If people don't cross me, I won't cross them. It's that simple.”

“But...” He Yongping still wanted to say something.

“Enough.” Mo Yan waved his hand, interrupting him. “Don't mention ridiculous words like 'amnesty' again. You aren't worthy.”

“For your sake today, I'll pretend I didn't hear it.”

“If someone else had come to say those two words to me, they would already be a dead man.”

A cold killing intent flashed by. He Yongping instantly felt as if he had fallen into an ice cellar, and the blood in his body felt like it was about to freeze.

He didn't doubt for a second that Mo Yan was telling the truth.

“Go back and tell your Chief,” Mo Yan's tone softened slightly, “Amnesty is out, but cooperation is possible.”

“I am a Dragon Country person after all. I cannot stand by and watch my fellow countrymen be slaughtered by monsters.”

“I will take action to handle the high-risk dungeons in other cities of the Dragon Country.”

Hearing this, a flame of hope instantly ignited in He Yongping's eyes!

“However, the rules must be mine.” Mo Yan held up three fingers.

“First, the profit split will be the same as H City: I take seventy percent, you take thirty.”

“Don't talk to me about national righteousness. My subordinates go in to risk their lives, not to do charity. This is the bottom line.”

“Second, all rewards for first clears, including the honor of System announcements, belong entirely to me. I need these to increase my influence.”

“Third, all logistics required for clearing dungeons—including intelligence gathering, personnel transport, and material supplies—will be the responsibility of your official government. I am only responsible for providing combat power.”

“If you can accept these three conditions, then we can talk.”

“If you can't, then find a way to face those dungeons yourselves.”

After Mo Yan finished speaking, he stopped looking at him.

He Yongping calculated rapidly in his mind.

A 70-30 split was painful, but it was much better than a 90-10 split.

Moreover, compared to the safety of the entire country, losing some resources was completely within an acceptable range.

As for the first clear rewards and logistics, those were even smaller issues.

“I... I understand!” He Yongping stood up abruptly and bowed deeply to Mo Yan.

“Mr. Mo Yan, on behalf of the Dragon Country and millions of our compatriots, I thank you for your great righteousness!”

“Don't give me any high praise.” Mo Yan waved his hand. “I'm not doing it for you, but for the innocent people on this land.”

“Additionally, you can go back and start preparing.”

“I estimate Li Zezhong and the others will soon finish clearing the last dungeon in H City.”

“When that time comes, organize a list of the most urgent dungeons for me, and I will send people over.”

“Yes, I will get right on it!”

He Yongping excitedly gave another military salute and turned to leave the box.

Although the amnesty mission failed, he was bringing back a solution that could truly solve the problem!

The Dragon Country was saved!
