Chapter 187: Introductions
General Mark Dempsey, ever the pragmatist, was the first to break the stunned silence. "Mr. Santamo," he began, his voice steady despite the questions swirling in his mind, "you mentioned immediate coordination. What exactly are your operational parameters? What are we working with?"
Richard’s gaze swept over the council, calm and direct. "General, and members of the United Earth Defense Pact council," his voice was clear, resonant, filling the cavernous room without effort.
"Currently the Terran Retribution Command operates as a quick response force and defense on major global cities." As he spoke, crisp holographic overlays materialized on the main screen, showcasing sleek, dark vessels. "We have in disposal, currently 10 fleets consisting of 10 DSTR - Meteor Class destroyers each, which also operate as ground support ships for the forces on the ground below. These vessels are equipped with advanced sensor suites and localized atmospheric control, allowing for precision drops and real-time battlefield analysis."
A new overlay shimmered into existence, displaying the formidable, humanoid forms of the Android Marines. "Currently these are automated Android Marines for emergency deployments," Richard continued, his tone unwavering.
"They are faster, stronger, and more resilient than any conventional infantry. We have SPX-88 plasma rifles, available to all our ground forces below that may need some arsenal assistance. These are effective against enemy ground forces which conventional rifles struggle to penetrate their energy shields, and in our disposal, we have 140,012 Standard Issue Light Combat Gear kits available."
A low murmur rippled through the UEDP council. The sheer scale and technological superiority of Richard’s forces were becoming terrifyingly apparent. General Misha Petrova, the Russian General on the council, leaned forward, a flicker of awe in her usually stoic eyes. "Plasma rifles," she murmured, a slight tremor in her voice. "You mean, they’re truly effective against their shields? We’ve seen nothing but deflections in our weapons."
Richard gave a concise nod. "We have confirmed that, General. Our plasma technology bypasses their energy dampeners, causing immediate molecular destabilization." The council members’ expressions shifted from initial surprise to dawning comprehension and profound relief. The numbers, the capabilities—it was overwhelming, but in the best possible way.
Richard paused, his aura pulsing almost imperceptibly, and his tone shifted, becoming more somber. The holographic display on the main screen dissolved the images of ships and weapons, replacing them with disturbing schematics of genetically modified human soldiers. The images were unsettling, showing enhanced but clearly manipulated human forms, their eyes disturbingly vacant.
"Beyond their reptilian ground forces, the Krill utilize what they’ve designated as the ’Echo Legion’ – genetically modified human supersoldiers," Richard’s voice was grim, stripping away any last vestiges of the council’s composure. "Schematics from Project MK-Ultra and Project Stargate, previously leaked in the Black Files, confirms their origin."
The council members flinched, a collective gasp echoing through the room as the chilling implications of those long-buried projects resurfaced.
"These kits," Richard continued, referring to the combat gear, "come with a neural patterning device, designed to recalibrate conscious neural control against these enemy-controlled human forces. They are forced out of their will, enslaved. The device emits a specific frequency that disrupts Krill neural programming, allowing for potential re-integration or at least neutralization without lethal force where possible."
Then, Richard dropped the true bombshell, the horrifying revelation that fundamentally shifted their understanding of the war. The holographic display shifted again, showing abstract, unsettling visuals of energy transfer and degradation.
"Currently, my parameters are to avoid extraction of our citizens at all costs," Richard’s voice was low, impactful, each word landing with the weight of a hammer blow.
"These lizards’ primary objective is not conquest as you understand it, but to extract as many of our people as possible. They developed a dependency from processed human blood that gave them enhanced physical capabilities and long lifespan. Our intelligence indicates their strengths and body start degrading significantly without consuming this processed human blood after approximately a week. However, we must assume they have substantial reserves on their ships and in newly established processing centers. Which is why, protecting our people from capture is as imperative to defeating our enemies. Currently, they will not use overwhelming, indiscriminate heavy force against us in urban areas, as their priority is to ’harvest’ as many of our people as possible intact."
A wave of profound shock and discomfort washed over the UEDP council. General Dempsey’s grim expression deepened, his eyes narrowing as he processed the full, horrific implications. Some council members visibly recoiled, a few exchanging looks of utter revulsion. The silence in the room was deafening, broken only by the hum of the holographic displays.
"Harvest..." General Dempsey’s voice was strained, barely a whisper. "When they thought of human life, we’re really just a cattle to them huh?."
Richard gave a curt, almost imperceptible nod. "Unfortunately, That’s a fact, General. Our survival hinges on denying them their sustenance." The revelation was a chilling new layer to the conflict, transforming it from a fight for territory into a desperate struggle for humanity’s very essence.
Despite the profound shock, General Dempsey, ever pragmatic, quickly regained his composure. "Mr. Santamo," he said, his voice calm but urgent, "the implications of this intelligence are... profound. If possible, we would like your assistance in acquiring these new weapons and neural patterning devices for our own forces. The scale of this threat demands every advantage."
Richard, with a subtle, almost imperceptible nod, revealed his proactive and global reach. "No problem, General. The Terran Retribution Command has already initiated distribution to local defense forces in Brazil, including military units and civilian resistance groups capable of effective engagement. Currently, these forces are already in deployment, reinforcing cities surrounding the Amazon, extending across the continent towards Mexico."
Miles away, on a dusty street in a Brazilian favela, Maria, a young woman who had led a small, desperate civilian resistance cell, now wore the sleek, lightweight "Standard Issue Light Combat Gear." It felt alien, yet empowering. She gripped an SPX-88 plasma rifle, its low hum a stark contrast to the familiar clatter of her old, worn assault rifle. A Krill soldier, its energy shield shimmering, advanced on her position. Maria aimed, fired, and a bolt of crackling blue plasma streaked out. The Krill’s shield flickered violently, then the creature’s face sizzled, its reptilian scream cut short. Beside her, a local military officer, initially wary of the civilian, nodded in grim approval.
Back in the UEDP command center, the global map on the holographic display now pulsed with real-time threat assessments and troop movements. The council members, their initial shock giving way to urgent collaboration, immediately began to discuss with Richard which cities and nations currently needed assistance and reinforcements.
General Li Wei, the Chinese General, pointed to a flashing red zone over Shanghai.
"Mr. Santamo, Shanghai is under heavy ground assault. Our conventional forces are struggling against their shielded units. Can your Android Marines provide immediate relief?"
Richard consulted an unseen display, his eyes scanning data streams that only he could perceive. "Confirmed, General Li. We have two DSTR fleets en route, estimated arrival in 12 minutes. Android Marine deployment will commence immediately upon arrival. We will prioritize securing key civilian evacuation points and disrupting their harvesting operations."
Premier Vladimir Putin’s image appeared beside General Dempsey, his expression grave. "Mr. Santamo, our intelligence indicates a significant Krill command presence in the Arctic. Are your Meteor-Class destroyers capable of sustained operations in extreme cold?"
"It is fully capable, Premier," Richard replied, confidently. "Our vessels are designed for multi-environment deployment. We can initiate a deep strike if you can provide precise coordinates and a clear zone for engagement."
Lina’s internal calculations hummed in Richard’s mind, a subtle, constant overlay of data streams, optimal deployment vectors, and resource allocation. She was already cross-referencing UEDP intelligence with Richard’s pervasive global sensor network, optimizing every decision.
Seamlessly, Richard’s forces – the DSTR - Meteor Class destroyers, the Android Marines, and the newly equipped local resistance – were integrated into the UEDP’s global defense strategy. Critical hotspots where Krill ground forces were making inroads or where human populations were most vulnerable to "harvesting" were identified, and Richard’s quick response forces were directed with precision.
