28: Chapter 28: The entire crew was green with envy!

Dilraba was so angry she felt like her lungs were about to explode, and she secretly vowed to herself that she must make a clean break with Lin Chen in the future.

A scumbag like him, who acted so righteous, was safest to avoid as much as possible.

To prove she had some backbone, she washed up and went to bed early for the first time ever, dead set on not going to the room across the hall to join in the fun.

However, even though she was lying on the soft mattress, her beautiful eyes were wide open, and she tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

The more she forced herself not to think about it, the more that stinky man's face kept flashing in her mind.

Whenever she thought about the shocking heat she felt while sitting on his lap just moments ago, Dilraba felt her whole body heating up.

She irritably squeezed her legs together, pinning a large pillow tightly between her thighs, and used her fair, delicate hands to pummel the pillow as if it were Lin Chen's face, venting the pent-up fire in her body.

The next morning, Lin Chen prepared breakfast as usual and knocked on the door to call the two beauties out to eat.

Yang Mi, wearing a loose camisole and shuffling in slippers, ran over immediately.

Dilraba, however, struggled in her room for a long time.

Her stomach was growling loudly, and in the end, she strode on her long legs into Room 8807.

"It's free food, I'd be a fool not to eat it!"

"It's just a meal, what could it possibly mean? I haven't forgiven him."

"A philandering radish like him doesn't deserve my forgiveness. I'm just here to mooch off his food and drink, and eat him into poverty!"

"Besides, I have to keep an eye on things for Sister Mi. I've seen his true scumbag colors, but Sister Mi is still in the dark. To prevent Sister Mi from getting hurt, I have to stick close to him."

Dilraba was frantically making excuses for herself in her heart.

The more she made them up, the more she believed them herself.

As soon as she sat at the dining table, all her backbone from earlier was thrown to the winds.

She picked up her bowl and ate with more gusto than anyone else.

Her pink, alluring little tongue kept darting out from her red lips, licking the remnants of white porridge from the corners of her mouth.

After eating and drinking her fill, she let out a satisfied burp.

After breakfast, the group took a car straight to the film set.

Lin Chen didn't go to the rest tent to set up his stove today; instead, he followed Yang Mi and Dilraba directly into the private dressing room.

Yang Mi had finalized the schedule with the assistant director last night, and Lin Chen's scenes were to be shot directly this morning.

"When you're in front of the camera later, don't stare at the lens. Just pretend there's no one around; the more nervous you are, the easier it is to break character. Just relax and act naturally; it's fine if you stumble and have to redo it. Even an award-winning Best Actor can't guarantee a perfect take on the first try, so we'll take our time."

Yang Mi sat on the swivel chair to Lin Chen's right, letting the makeup artist style her hair.

Although Lin Chen had boasted last night that he was a peerless genius, Yang Mi didn't believe it in her subconscious.

Music, Culinary Arts, and medical skills—these could indeed be mastered through sheer talent.

But acting is a technical craft that relies entirely on experience fed bit by bit in front of the camera.

Talking on paper is useless. Many university graduates from professional acting programs are just as lost when they get to a real set.

Lin Chen had never even worked as an extra for a day; even if he was smart, his legs would surely turn to jelly when he got in front of the camera.

"When I first debuted and shot my first scene, it took over a dozen takes to get it right. It was because I was scared and afraid my expressions were wrong. The more scared I was, the worse I acted. Later, I just threw caution to the wind, emptied my brain, and followed my instincts, and I actually passed on the first try."

Dilraba sat to Lin Chen's left. She hadn't wanted to pay attention to this scumbag; she had sworn yesterday never to see him again, so what did it matter to her if he embarrassed himself while acting?

But seeing him sitting there without a word, she couldn't help herself in the end.

The excuse she gave herself sounded very high-minded: after all, they were in the same Film Crew, and if he stumbled and wasted the whole morning, the entire Film Crew would suffer. As the second female lead, it was only reasonable to guide a rookie extra.

Lin Chen sat in the middle, eyes closed, leaning back against the chair. He didn't offer an explanation, nor did he reply. He really didn't know how to start.

If he were to tell the truth and say that their stiff, terrible acting skills meant they were unqualified to teach him anything, these two women would definitely fly into a rage and call him arrogant again.

He might as well play dumb and let them imagine whatever they wanted.

Possessing master-level acting skills, he didn't feel even a hint of stage fright when he arrived at the set.

All he felt inside was a surge of excitement, finally able to get on set and satisfy his acting itch.

However, Lin Chen's profound appearance as he rested with his eyes closed only served to confirm the two beauties' suspicion that the "rookie was scared out of his wits."

Look, he's so scared he doesn't even dare to make a sound. The two women broke into a cold sweat in their hearts, determined to watch from the sidelines the entire time.

If the director dared to be impatient and yell at him, they would definitely step up and confront him. Someone they brought themselves, could they not be nervous for their first time on camera? Director, were you born knowing how to yell "Action"?

At 8:20 AM, Lin Chen's look was finally finished. They didn't apply any messy foundation to his face, just slightly groomed his eyebrows. Most of the time was spent on the wig.

The Film Crew had provided a black wig that reached his waist. It wasn't tied up in a bun but left to hang loosely behind his head, perfectly fitting the persona of the previous generation's Chess King—a wild and unrestrained wanderer.

Once his hair was done, a crew member led Lin Chen into the dressing room to change into his custom-made costume. It was a flawless, pure white ancient robe, paired with pure white trousers and a pair of white cloth boots. His long hair cascaded like a black waterfall, and his clothes were as white as fresh snow.

When Lin Chen lifted the curtain and stepped out of the dressing room with a calm stride, the once noisy set instantly fell silent. Everyone's gaze on the set was instantly drawn to him.

Lin Chen had been on set for over a week, and the entire Film Crew had long since figured out his background. Honestly speaking, everyone looked down on him from the bottom of their hearts.

Even though Lin Chen had never done anything bad and never bullied anyone, everyone secretly regarded him as a gigolo living off women.

Especially after the news spread this morning that the big boss, Yang Mi, had forced the director to rewrite the script and add a role specifically for this pretty boy, the disgust of all the staff members reached its peak.

A grown man, what kind of skill is it to rely on serving women as an assistant? Why couldn't such a stroke of luck fall on them? To put it plainly, it was pure, naked jealousy.

However, when Lin Chen stepped out of the dressing room in his pure white ancient costume with his waist-length wig, the noise of the entire set instantly vanished. Even the second male lead, Yang Lihua, who hated him the most, had to grit his teeth and admit that this bastard truly possessed an unparalleled appearance.

"A gentleman as jade, peerless in the world." Lin Chen, in his snow-white attire, perfectly embodied this saying.

The director behind the monitor was very satisfied. Dongfang Zhaoyu was defined in the script as the most handsome man in the martial arts world. If the actor's looks were lacking, it would just invite the audience's curses. Fortunately, Lin Chen's heaven-defying looks could definitely carry the role.

"Tch, what's the use of just being handsome? Isn't he still a loser?"

"The film and television industry is a mess now. As long as you know how to please the big boss, even any stray cat or dog off the street can come and act."

"Just wait and see the show. Does he really think that because he's pleased two stunning beauties, he can be an actor? Once the camera starts rolling, he'll definitely make a fool of himself."

"I've been stuck in Hengdian World Studios for ten years, eating rotten box lunches every day, and I still can't get a named role like this. He can act just because his wife steps in—is there any fairness in this broken industry?"

"Keep your voice down, brother. He does have skills; he can scarf down five big oysters in one meal to boost his stamina, hehehe..."

The surrounding staff and extras whispered to each other, their words reeking of lewdness and disdain, all waiting to see Lin Chen make a fool of himself. Of course, this was all private grumbling. No one dared to say a word to his face. After all, everyone knew who was behind Lin Chen; daring to offend Yang Mi and Dilraba directly on set would be suicide for their careers.

Yang Mi and Dilraba stayed by Lin Chen's side, not leaving him for even a step. Their sparkling, alluring eyes were fixed entirely on him, their gazes filled with admiration, pride, and joy.

They really hadn't expected Lin Chen's ancient costume look to be this handsome and dashing. Compared to the posturing Li Qingfeng standing nearby, Lin Chen actually looked more like the lead actor.

"Brother Feng, don't hold back during our scene later; really make him lose face."

In the corner of the set, Yang Lihua said with a gloomy face, quietly egging Li Qingfeng on. The person acting opposite Lin Chen later was none other than the male lead, Li Qingfeng.

Yang Lihua had been stirring up trouble from early in the morning, wanting to use someone else to do his dirty work. He was convinced that since Li Qingfeng had at least acted in a few big productions, he would definitely be able to crush the complete amateur Lin Chen with his experience.

In fact, there was no need for him to talk; Li Qingfeng was already fuming inside. The hatred of having his woman stolen was irreconcilable, and he was determined to make Lin Chen lose face in front of everyone.

"Go, husband!"

Yang Mi stood on her fair, delicate tiptoes and reached out to neaten the long hair at Lin Chen's temples. Dilraba also threw her vow from last night never to see him again to the winds. She hopped around on the sidelines, waving her pink fists in encouragement.

This scene was seen by Li Qingfeng, and the fire of jealousy nearly burned away his sanity. You bastard! Just watch how I use my acting skills to teach you a lesson in a moment!
