97: Chapter 97 The "No Pants" Look: The Destructive Power of Female Celebrities

11:20 AM.

The two of them finally left the house.

That's right, 11:20 AM.

After picking out their clothes, they still had to do their makeup, which took almost another two hours.

Tong Liya wore a loose, greyish-white hoodie with a pair of black hot pants underneath.

Because the hem of the hoodie was so long, it completely covered her shorts, creating a "missing bottoms" look.

All one could see were her bright, fair, long legs, glistening as she walked.

She wore white sneakers paired with black knee-high socks.

A black baseball cap sat atop her loosely flowing hair, and a pair of large sunglasses rested on her face.

One had to admit, a female celebrity is a female celebrity.

Dressed like this on the street, she was practically glowing with fairness, both innocent and seductive, sexy and elegant.

Spending several hours getting ready was certainly not a waste of effort.

The car was Tong Liya's Beetle.

All five women in the household had cars registered to their names; Yang Mi alone had four luxury cars parked in the garage.

Tong Liya's little car was the cheapest one in the house.

Of course, she wasn't short on money; she just didn't have much interest in cars.

Usually, when she went out, she would take a nanny van with her assistant and rarely touched the steering wheel herself.

She had bought this Beetle when she first debuted; she had driven it for seven or eight years, but it was maintained like a new car, and she probably hadn't stepped on the gas pedal many times in total.

When they arrived in the city, it was just in time for a meal, so they decided to fill their stomachs first.

The restaurant was chosen by Tong Liya, a high-end Japanese restaurant.

She hadn't eaten there herself, but she saw high ratings on her phone while on the way, so she dragged Lin Chen along to try it.

The conclusion after eating: Very average.

Lin Chen possessed Master-level cooking; for him to call it "average" actually meant it was quite good by objective standards.

The ingredients were chosen very fresh, the preparation was authentic, and the chef's skill, by system standards, was roughly at a high-level Culinary Arts level.

But that was where it ended; there were no other highlights.

Of course, this was just what Lin Chen thought in his heart.

When Tong Liya asked him how it tasted, Lin Chen only said it was quite delicious, not putting on any master airs to analyze the quality of the dishes.

Life, after all, didn't require being serious about everything.

Today, he was out with his wife to have fun; the goal was to be happy, and whether the food was good or not was secondary.

The same principle applies to being a person.

To put it bluntly, it's called just getting by, but in reality, this is what life is.

If one didn't smoke or drink every day, avoided meat, followed a health regimen religiously, and didn't dare to do or try anything.

You might live longer, but life would be as bland as drinking plain water; what would be the point?

After eating and drinking their fill, they parked the car and walked hand in hand down the street.

"Let's get a new one!"

"The one I have on hand works just fine; why replace it?"

"Oh, this is a piece of junk from years ago; the photos even have ghosting! How can you not see anything wrong with it? Hurry up, let's go in and take a look."

Passing by a mobile phone store, the two started tugging at each other at the entrance.

Tong Liya insisted on buying Lin Chen a new phone, while Lin Chen felt it was a complete waste of money.

He had been using this Xiaomi for several years; apart from the battery not lasting very long, the exterior hadn't even lost any paint, and it fully met his daily needs.

But in today's society, a lagging smartphone is the greatest original sin.

Lin Chen ultimately couldn't resist Tong Liya's persistent pestering and half-reluctantly went into the store.

As soon as they entered, amidst the gasps of a group of clerks, he bought the latest Apple model.

"Oh my god, it's really Yaya and Lin Chen! It can't be wrong, they're real and in person!"

"Aren't the rumors online saying their marriage is a misunderstanding? What is going on? Tong Liya has been holding onto Lin Chen's arm the whole time and won't let go!"

"You believe the statements released by the studio? I saw through it long ago; these female celebrities are just joining forces to release smoke screens to protect Lin Chen."

"Lin Chen is much more handsome in person than on TV; they look so sweet."

As soon as the two walked out the door, the store instantly exploded with noise; customers and clerks chattered away, gossiping non-stop.

Gossip is always the best way to bridge interpersonal relationships.

Beijing is the capital, a super first-tier metropolis.

Running into celebrities here is nothing strange.

But wanting to run into them by chance requires luck.

Beijing is too big, and celebrities are divided into different tiers.

Top-tier celebrities like the two of them, who were incredibly popular, had off-the-charts buzz, and whose marriage was full of controversy, were impossible to meet on a normal day.

It's no wonder these bystanders were so excited.

The onlookers were excited, but Lin Chen felt very unhappy.

He said very responsibly that this feeling of being pointed at and discussed as if he were a strange beast was extremely uncomfortable.

It was like a monkey in a zoo being casually watched and commented on by people.

"Alright, alright, don't pull such a long face, be happy. In the future, you have to slowly get used to this life; just treat these people like air."

Tong Liya's soft little hand rested on Lin Chen's chest, gently smoothing his breath.

Lin Chen retorted: "Why should I have to get used to it?"

Tong Liya blinked her large, watery eyes: "Because we are artists. To enjoy the flowers and applause, one must endure the pressure of being watched and discussed. There are gains and losses, after all."

"Am I an artist?"

Tong Liya giggled: "But your wife is, and all your wives are."

Lin Chen: ...

"Hehe!"

Tong Liya laughed it off, changed the subject, and while hopping about, acted coquettishly, "Husband, let's take a photo together!"

"Fine."

Half a minute later.

Lin Chen stood in front holding the phone, while Tong Liya hid behind him.

One hand was wrapped around his waist, and the other was making a peace sign next to her face.

"Why are you standing so far away?" Lin Chen looked back at his wife hiding behind him, very puzzled.

Tong Liya maintained her pose, the smile on her face not moving an inch, but her voice squeezed out from between her teeth: "Hiding further back makes my face look smaller! Hurry up and press the shutter, my face is about to go stiff."

Lin Chen refused to take it.

He freed one hand, directly reached back, and wrapped his arm around Tong Liya's fair, tender neck, completely ignoring her screams and laughter, and forcefully dragged her in front of him.

This time, it was Lin Chen's turn to hide in the back.

"Ahhh! Lin Chen, let go! I'm going to call the police and report you for domestic violence!"

Tong Liya struggled desperately in his arms, her perky buttocks constantly rubbing against Lin Chen.

If not for the laughter that occasionally escaped her lips, passersby would have really thought he was beating his wife in the street.

"Click!"

Taking advantage of her struggling, Lin Chen pressed the shutter.

The photo froze on the screen.

Lin Chen was smiling handsomely, but Tong Liya in his arms was a blurry mess due to her struggling, with only a rough outline visible.

"Oh, it's so ugly! Delete it quickly, delete it now!"

Tong Liya looked at the screen, giggled, and then pounced to grab the phone.

How could Lin Chen let her have her way? He held the phone high with one hand, letting her jump around in his arms.

Tong Liya was 1.68 meters tall, which was definitely considered tall for a woman.

But in front of Lin Chen, it wasn't enough; there was a difference of nearly twenty centimeters, and no matter how she jumped, she couldn't reach it.

"One warning: hand over the phone immediately! Otherwise, the consequences will be very serious; don't blame me for not warning you in advance!"

After hopping around for a while, Tong Liya stopped, put on a stern face, and pointed at Lin Chen.

Lin Chen smiled, looking completely unconcerned: "In my life, I hate being threatened the most, and I never compromise. If you call me 'good brother'... Hiss— Ouch! It hurts, it hurts! Here, take it, take it!"

Before he could finish speaking, Lin Chen suddenly bent over, grabbed Tong Liya's mischievous little hand, and instantly gave in.

It was true he had Grandmaster-level Qi Cultivation and a physique far superior to ordinary people, but he was still mortal and knew what pain was.

Just a moment ago, Tong Liya had used two fingers to precisely pinch a small piece of skin on his waist and twisted it hard for half a turn.

That feeling was simply excruciatingly refreshing.

They say the waist is a man's fatal weakness, and it's absolutely true; this place is indeed his real Achilles' heel.
