177: Chapter 174 Attack

"Once they have children, I will provide a large settlement fee. After working there for a few years, if they don't want to continue, they can come to my estate."

"They can work as security here, or of course, they can return to their home country or go elsewhere; I can accommodate whatever they choose."

"I have tried to persuade Old San to retire; he is at such an advanced age, after all."

"Heh, but Old San has a stubborn temper. He says he's worried about these little brats, but I know he's actually worried that if he isn't there to hold things down, the morale will scatter."

"But how many more years can he hold them down? Even someone as strong as the former Grandmaster couldn't withstand it and eventually fell. In this world, no one can escape birth, aging, sickness, and death."

Master Wen took a light sip of tea, looked at the contemplative Li Changsheng, and smiled faintly. "Alright, I believe Brother Li doesn't want to sit here and listen to me ramble, so let's talk about something practical."

Hearing this, Li Changsheng's thoughts returned to the present; he had already roughly guessed what the other party wanted to discuss with him.

"Master Wen, do you want me to help you manage the territories under your control? Surely you don't expect me to help you with the fighting and killing, right?" Li Changsheng scoffed.

"Heh, it would be a waste for a talent like you, Brother Li, to risk your life with those lowlifes." Master Wen didn't commit one way or the other, pulling a box of cigars from his desk drawer and gesturing towards Li Changsheng.

Seeing Li Changsheng nod, he slowly and deliberately took out a specialized cutter and began to trim the cigar.

"Just like this thing, talent is different from ordinary people, just as cigars are different from the cigarettes we usually smoke. They must be treated in a way that matches their value. Likewise, Brother Li, I admire you very much."

He trimmed a cigar and handed it over. Seeing Li Changsheng calmly pick up the lighter on the table and light the cigar evenly, Master Wen smiled.

This young brother was indeed quite interesting. Despite wearing very ordinary clothes, his manners and actions were very refined, exuding a composure that belied his age.

"Brother Li, I have a small matter I would like to trouble you with. After it is accomplished, there will be five million US dollars. And Brother Li, don't be in a rush to refuse; this matter will not make things difficult for you."

Master Wen took a deep puff of his cigar, and seeing that Li Changsheng remained calm, he continued:

"The root cause now is that the local Gangs think we are easy to bully, and the Americans also feel they can manipulate us at will, even thinking that if they just toss us a bone, we have to crawl over and lick it."

"But when the Grandmaster was still alive, weren't the council members eager to come and fawn over us? So, I've been thinking about whether we can twist all these people in the Big Circle into a single rope."

As he spoke, Master Wen clenched his fist, as if gathering scattered forces together.

"So, Master Wen, you want me to help you integrate all the Gangs?" Li Changsheng laughed immediately. He wouldn't want to help with this, let alone for five million, even if it were a billion.

"No, Brother Li is an expert; I cannot waste your time. It's like this: I have already been planning this."

"I plan to gather all the bosses of the Big Circle in the US at the end of next month for a meeting in Chinatown. I will also be there, and I would like to ask Brother Li to accompany me. When necessary, I need Brother Li to help me hold down the fort; this shouldn't be a problem, right?"

Master Wen smiled and looked at Li Changsheng. "Just that?" Li Changsheng asked skeptically.

"Just that. If we can't negotiate, then we force them to agree! A bunch of spineless cowards, they've already had their bones softened by the local Gangs. Regardless of what happens, I must make this happen."

"So, Brother Li, this mission has a bit of danger. Five million US dollars—if Brother Li thinks it's too little, I can add more. But ten million is the absolute limit; many of my assets are tied up in investments and cannot be easily moved." Master Wen sighed.

Upon hearing this, Li Changsheng pondered for a moment and nodded. If it were a very complicated matter, he certainly wouldn't get involved, but this kind of one-off deal was doable.

Primarily, it was about being able to integrate the current Big Circle. The Big Circle was currently a mixed bag of various Gangs, and the things they did were hair-raising. It indeed needed to be properly integrated; perhaps this could turn around the current plight of compatriots in the US, and perhaps it could also rectify the chaotic phenomenon of Gangs bullying their own compatriots.

"Brother Li is truly righteous! I will toast you with this tea instead of wine!" As he spoke, Master Wen, disregarding that the tea was still scalding hot, downed it in one gulp.

Li Changsheng felt his own mouth and throat burn just watching. Master Wen might have lost his fighting spirit, but that ruthlessness remained.

The two chatted for a while longer. Master Wen wanted Li Changsheng to stay for a few days, but Li Changsheng politely declined. Since it was a transaction, there was no need to be too sentimental. He didn't really like interacting with Gangs too much, and the only reason he was helping was simply out of indignation.

Compatriots from Xia were already having a very difficult time overseas, and those scum were doing such despicable things. Since Master San could handle the big picture, it wouldn't hurt for him to do what he could and act as a temporary enforcer.

On the way back, it was the same driver. However, this time Master San didn't come along; the two old men seemed to rarely get together, so they decided to have a good chat over the next couple of days.

Li Changsheng didn't pay any mind to this; instead, his mind was on whether to eat at the Big Eater Chinese buffet or the American-style Western buffet tonight.

"No rush to eat. I haven't trained today; I'll go to the gym and pump iron for two hours first when I get back." As he got used to working out, Li Changsheng felt uncomfortable if he missed a day; he always felt the day wasn't fulfilling.

While lost in thought, his mind wandered, and his gaze drifted aimlessly out the window. However, vaguely, his eyes were suddenly flashed by something.

Squinting, he saw something on a nearby rooftop reflecting a glimmer of light. Suddenly, a sense of crisis swept over his entire body. Li Changsheng's pores closed subconsciously, his hair stood on end, and even his hair and eyebrows felt slightly bristled as he suddenly lowered his body.

Boom! The moment Li Changsheng lowered his body, the car was suddenly struck by a massive force, followed by the glass shattering. The car began to sway from side to side, thrown into disarray by the sudden vibration.

The driver's expression also changed drastically, but he was clearly very experienced in such situations, stabilizing the car while quickly stepping on the accelerator.

Only then did Li Changsheng see that on the window to his right, there was a hole the size of an infant's fist. Around the hole were dense, frost-like crack marks, and some glass shards had splattered into the car.

A sniper! And it was a heavy-duty sniper rifle!!!

Li Changsheng was horrified. This was bulletproof glass; ordinary handguns couldn't possibly shoot through it. The only thing capable of doing so was a heavy-duty sniper rifle, and the bullets must have been specially made.

The attacker knew the configuration of this car very well, and even knew who the owner of this car was.

Just as Li Changsheng was filled with shock and suspicion, Boom! Two cars that had been lying in wait suddenly rushed out from the alleys on both sides, and the massive impact caused the car body to tremble violently once again. The impact and friction caused dense sparks to flash outside the car.
