178: Chapter 178 Invitations Keep Coming
The conversation with Zheng Hai was proceeding in a bizarre manner.
Lin Chuyan had black lines running down his head, and it was hard to describe what he was feeling. "No, brother, aren't you having a bit too much inner monologue? Aren't you overthinking this a bit too much?"
However, why on earth did this guy have the contact information for a doctor who treats ED? That was the real question.
If there's a question, just ask it directly.
"Brother, is this your attending physician?"
Then, the other person got anxious.
"I'm not, I don't... This is a friend of mine."
How pathetic. Thinning hair, not quite performing well in that department in middle age; it seemed like Brother Zheng Hai only had money left.
However, this kind of thing wasn't easy to explain further, so in the end, Lin Chuyan could only respond directly: "Brother, don't let your imagination run wild. I'm rock hard every morning, okay..."
For the next few days, Lin Chuyan basically ran back and forth between his rehearsal room and the recording studio at Tianxing.
While working on getting his new songs ready, he was also calculating which songs to perform at the music festival.
Eventually, he listed 8 songs for himself.
"Andy", "the ordinary road", "a little red flower", "finding myself", "changing myself", "my only", "loves flight diary", "i truly love you".
There were old songs and new songs; that would do.
He didn't have many songs, and he was actually quite familiar with them, so the main thing was to think about whether he could rearrange them into something fun. After all, it was a live performance, so he at least needed to show something new, right? It shouldn't be the same live as it was on the album.
However, while he was practicing, Wu Yue came to find him.
"Xiao Yan, I feel like if you accumulate a few more songs, you could hold a concert. Or if you don't have enough songs, a LiveHouse performance wouldn't be out of the question either."
"What do you mean?"
"About that music festival, didn't we agree on 1 million for 8 songs? I originally thought that since you really haven't performed in such a live setting in a serious way, we should just sing well, and it wouldn't be a matter of who's profiting or losing out. Who knew that as soon as the news of your appearance at the music festival came out, the tickets would sell out so fast?"
Lin Chuyan rubbed his chin: "By the way, wasn't it said that many 'girlfriend fans' and 'wife fans' were leaving the fandom? This doesn't look like it."
"Out with the old, in with the new. Honestly, if we could have fewer messy fandom issues, and the rest were just pure music fans, movie fans, and career-focused fans, I'd welcome it with gongs and drums. In short, your good days are still ahead."
"I'll take your word for it..." Lin Chuyan didn't have much of a reaction. Anyway, he just needed to focus on his career, and the rest would be handled by the people around him. "What else?"
"Well, several things. One is, you know, the three major music awards, the 'Huayin Brilliant Awards' is coming up soon. They've already notified us, and we need to start preparing. It's in July, right after the music festival, so we can go then."
Lin Chuyan's eyes lit up: "I'll definitely be able to win an award this time, right?"
With so many good songs on his blue album, he didn't believe they wouldn't give him a single award.
If they really didn't give him one, would there be any justice left? Would there be any law? Teacher Wawa would be the first one to object!
Wu Yue nodded: "You'll win, but they didn't specify which award. The exact words were that you'd definitely be able to win at least one. Also, they hope you can sing a song for free as part of the live performance that evening."
Lin Chuyan didn't hesitate at all: "I'll sing. People help people, and since they're giving me an award, singing a song won't hurt me."
Wu Yue smiled: "You'll definitely win at least one. Think about it, savor it; I have a feeling it'll be more than one. Make sure you dress nicely when the time comes and charm your fans to death."
Xia Zhi chimed in from the side: "Oh, by the way, brother, the suit you ordered at L.S. is ready. They told me it was finished, but we happened to be out of town when they wanted to ship it to us. I'll drive over and pick it up in a bit."
This shop was recommended to him by Ruan Xingyu; they only did high-end custom tailoring for celebrities. Lin Chuyan had ordered three sets at once and spent quite a bit of money.
When Lin Chuyan attended the Sound of Nature Festival previously, it was simply too late, but now he had finally caught up.
"There's another matter, which is your next film or television project." Wu Yue found a sofa and sat down, saying, "What are your thoughts? Do you have any requirements for your next Acting role?"
"Something like 'the long season'..." Lin Chuyan thought for a moment and felt this request might be a bit excessive, as such scripts were quite rare. So, he changed his phrasing: "The character needs to be outstanding, and the script shouldn't be disappointing. These two points are the most important. As for other things, whether the production team has money or not isn't important."
Wu Yue couldn't help but laugh: "What a coincidence, the Chinese Entertainment Industry isn't short on money; it's just short on good scripts and good characters. Not to mention incompetent directors, but when the screenwriters are incompetent, it leads to characters that aren't outstanding... So, although there are quite a few scripts being sent over, there really aren't many that I find acceptable."
Lin Chuyan nodded: "In short, better to have nothing than to settle for less... People should strive for higher places, right?"
"That's true. People strive for higher places, and people also need to fight for their pride." Wu Yue laughed at himself: "We have too few film and television works, no wonder others look down on us. Let's work hard."
Wu Yue didn't make it too explicit, but he was actually feeling angry inside.
This anger wasn't directed at anyone else, but at Director Yu Jin.
When Lin Chuyan came out of the interview room at that time, he didn't say any comforting words; he just patted the other person on the shoulder.
But this matter had never passed in Wu Yue's heart—if it were a normal failure to be selected, that would be one thing, but if the role was lost because it was predetermined... Although that's a basic operation in the entertainment industry, he just really wanted to slap the other person in the face.
Fortunately, in the past few days, a movie offer to play the male lead had found him.
They didn't provide a script, but after looking at the creative team, he felt it was a good opportunity.
"Although there are no suitable scripts in the Chinese Entertainment Industry for the time being, a few days ago, someone from Hong Kong contacted me."
"How is it?" Lin Chuyan became interested.
"Well, I don't know what the script is like yet, but the good thing is that it's a male lead role, and I think it's worth talking about. Since we left Jinghua, you haven't played a male lead yet, have you?"
Lin Chuyan was quite curious: "Who is the director? They aren't short of actors over there, right? Why would they look for me?"
"The director is a newcomer named Director Mu Sheng. He hasn't directed a movie before, but the producer is awesome. You know Director Du Qiyu, right? Also, the supporting actor is awesome too. You know Uncle Da, the golden supporting actor, right? So it's worth making contact. As for why they are looking for you..." Wu Yue laughed, "You reap what you sow... I asked this question too, and they really didn't just pick you randomly."
Wu Yue didn't keep him in suspense: "Back then, Director Han Xiao decided to cast you as Fu Weijun because he watched 'drama'. Now, Director Du Qiyu wants you to try his new film because he watched your 'the hovering blade'."
Lin Chuyan was a bit confused: "In 'the hovering blade', I played a bad guy. Can their film's male lead be based on that?"
"What a coincidence, the male lead in their film is a gangster thug, who seems to have participated in a robbery, and then, in the middle, he took a hostage, which is the female lead, and then the female lead slowly fell in love with him..."
"Damn, that's got a bit of Stockholm syndrome in it."
Wu Yue smiled: "They didn't go into detail, just gave that general idea. If you act in it, it definitely wouldn't be the same Acting style as in 'the hovering blade', but Director Du Qiyu probably feels that the aura you had in that movie—the one that was bad but still attractive to women—is quite suitable. Also, you've forgotten your biggest advantage."
"Hmm?"
"People from the mainland rarely go to Hong Kong to develop their careers, and even if they do, it's very hard to become a male lead. But you are from Guangdong Province, so maybe you can do it."
"Sure, let's set a time to talk." Lin Chuyan heard the names of the creative team and gained confidence in the film. "So, what is their movie called?"
" 'a moment of romance'."
