7: Chapter 7 is finished, and I'm pregnant.

At 11 PM, Lin Chuyan finished his shower and lay on the bed, beginning his pre-sleep activity—posting on Weibo and chatting with his haters.

"Acting is really fun. I was even complimented by the director today. The director is such a good person, I'm so happy!"

Edit, post.

Within a few minutes, the comments below started piling up.

"Can someone tell me what kind of show Lin Chuyan is filming? I really want to know, which director is blind enough to cast him?"

"Is filming supposed to be for you to play around in? Can you be a bit more professional as an artist?"

"Case closed, Lin Chuyan is currently filming a web movie called 'seven days of pursuit'."

"Holy crap, a web movie! Hilarious, I thought it was some big production."

Lin Chuyan even spotted a familiar ID, Mosquito Hits Cannon—

"Lin Chuyan, I'm watching you. A web movie, right? 'seven days of pursuit', right? Let's see what kind of performance you can put on."

Lin Chuyan looked at the comment and replied with a smile: "I'm watching you too, Brother Handstand-Head-Wash."

He picked the comment mocking him for filming a web movie, retweeted it, and posted a new Weibo:

"No role is too small; treat every part like a serious production."

Swiped up to close Weibo, time to sleep!

Waking up the next day, Lin Chuyan received a new message from Director Zhang Qian.

"The new script has been revised and sent to your email. Take a look when you have time and let me know when you're ready."

That's some high efficiency.

Lin Chuyan immediately downloaded and looked at it, discovering that what had been added the most were the Lines.

He tried to memorize the longest section in its entirety, but when he tried to speak it out loud after memorizing it, he realized it was fraught with difficulties.

This wasn't just reading a textbook; he wanted to express it in a natural, lifelike way. Easier said than done; in practice, he kept getting stuck everywhere.

He hadn't even finished half of it before his breathing became unstable, his tone was flat, and he couldn't manage the emotions at all.

He tried again, hoping to add some tone to make his voice sound modulated, but that didn't work either; instead, it just made him slur his words.

Damn, after finishing that section, Lin Chuyan was disgusted with himself.

He thought about it and added 2 points to Lines. Hmm, no reaction.

Gritting his teeth, he decided to just put the remaining 4 points on it, bringing his Lines on the virtual panel directly to 11.

Perhaps because it broke 10.

The next second, Lin Chuyan felt a dull ache in his lips, tongue, chest, abdomen, and waist, as if something was quietly changing.

Fortunately, this feeling came and went quickly.

"That's it?"

Lin Chuyan found a section of the Lines and couldn't help but try it again.

"I used to think love was just two people being together, supporting each other for a lifetime. Later, Xiao Qian told me, Fang Mo..."

As soon as he opened his mouth, Lin Chuyan realized something was different.

The most obvious thing was that his voice was more resonant, and unlike before, he wasn't just "speaking" directly from his throat; he could feel his waist and abdomen exerting force.

He tried speeding up his speech, and his enunciation was clearer than before.

Director Zhang Qian sent another message to his phone: "Lines are a fundamental skill; it's not something that can be accomplished overnight. We're short on time, so my requirement is very simple: memorize these few sections of Lines until you can recite them off the top of your head at any time."

Lin Chuyan: "Received."

He decided to spend these two days properly memorizing his Lines. It wasn't to give himself time, but to give Director Zhang some time to adjust; it wouldn't be good if he scared him.

...

Ever since Chu Chu had given him a talking-to, the three words "Lin Chuyan" had lingered in his mind like a curse. In a fit of absent-mindedness, his hand uncontrollably followed Lin Chuyan's Weibo.

"Sis, Lin Chuyan posted on Weibo again."

"Sis, what do you think he means? He even said 'no role is too small; treat every part like a serious production.' Holy crap, he's actually serious!"

"Sis, this guy is toxic, he's arguing with haters again."

"..."

Chu Chu laughed in frustration: "I'm telling you, don't be too obsessed with him. Why don't you use this time to polish your Acting? There's a new project waiting for you in a month."

Qiao Wei was just worried because he cared too much. Thinking about it, she was right; no matter how much Lin Chuyan tried to add scenes, he couldn't be bigger than him, the male lead. At the end of the day, the most important thing was for him to film well and take every step steadily.

Having figured this out, Qiao Wei put away his previous slacker attitude and put 120% of his energy into every scene.

Director Zhang Qian saw this and nodded inwardly: This kid Qiao Wei is not bad, and Lin Chuyan is also very good. The kids these days aren't so unbearable after all.

Director Zhang was becoming more and more confident in this show.

And Qiao Wei's fans were the first to discover that their idol had followed Lin Chuyan.

"Why did Brother Qiao Wei follow Lin Chuyan?"

"I know this. A role in the new show was changed at the last minute. I don't know why, but they settled on Lin Chuyan, and he just joined the crew these past two days."

"Who is Lin Chuyan? Never heard of him."

"Holy crap! You guys go look at his Weibo, this Lin Chuyan is so damn handsome!"

"Sister, calm down. Let me go see what he's made of... It's over, I'm pregnant!"

"???"

...

Lin Chuyan only contacted Director Zhang Qian after two days, indicating that he could join the crew at any time.

One reason was to memorize every single line until he knew it by heart, and the second was so that his sudden improvement in Lines ability wouldn't be too shocking to others.

It was still Wu Yue who drove him to the set.

Wu Yue had been in a good mood these past two days. He saw Lin Chuyan's changes and was genuinely happy for him—the state he was in a while ago made him feel uneasy, always feeling that something would go wrong sooner or later.

Over the past two days, he had contacted quite a few Acting teachers, but either their asking price was too high, or they simply didn't want to bother once they heard it was Lin Chuyan.

There was no helping the former, and Wu Yue wasn't willing to beg and plead for the latter. A twisted melon is never sweet; finding a teacher wasn't a small matter, and both sides had to be sincere.

Fortunately, there was finally some progress on this matter last night.

"Xiao Yan, you know Li Mujian, right? I managed to contact him through a friend of his. It's a coincidence; an old artist like him has a different level of mindset and no prejudice against young juniors. When I asked about his intention, he didn't object; he just told me to set a time to bring you over to see him, and he even told me not to worry about the fees. This is a rare opportunity; just make sure you seize it."

Lin Chuyan quickly agreed.

Li Mujian was a famous veteran actor. He wasn't particularly handsome and only started Acting in movies and TV shows in his 30s. He received his first male lead role in his 40s, and that role became the most classic version in all these years, bar none.

In the 20-plus years that followed, Li Mujian portrayed countless brilliant roles and became one of the two universally recognized thousand-faced best actors in the entertainment industry, or rather, the only one recognized in the Mainland—the other one is over in Hong Kong.

It's a pity that he had some health issues a few years ago, and his energy couldn't keep up, so he stopped Acting after that.

This was a loss for the entertainment industry and a regret for Li Mujian himself.

But it wasn't a matter of regret; if he couldn't act, he wouldn't force it. This was respect for the roles.

That Wu Yue could contact Li Mujian through connections, one has to say, was a skill in itself.

Lin Chuyan thought about it and actually got a bit nervous: "Brother Yue, there's one thing I forgot to ask. The fee for hiring an Acting teacher—the company probably isn't planning to pay for it, right?"

"Don't count on the company. I'll pay for the fees."

"How could I let you do that?"

"No need to be embarrassed. Just pay me back when you make it big. That's all my private savings; your sister-in-law doesn't even know about it."

"Alright, then could you find me a vocal coach too?"
