21: 1 Silver Wolf

wish power?

wish power values have appeared behind all these missions. It seems completing a mission grants wish power.

Could it be that missions are just another form of wishes, and completing them is a disguised way of fulfilling those wishes?

Ronan pondered, feeling that this line of reasoning was a bit of a stretch.

If that were the case, what exactly determined the amount of wish power?

Ever since the Divinity was partially repaired, too many questions needed to be sorted out one by one.

A heap of questions made Ronan's head spin.

Thinking about questions that were too complex or high-level might also be a dangerous thing.

He decided to take a mission and try it out, to see what changes would occur upon completion.

As long as he didn't make wishes lightly, how much trouble could doing a few Adventurer missions cause?

No sooner said than done.

He called over Parker, who had been observing the hall, and said with a straight face,

"Since you say you're familiar with this place, let me test you. If I want to accept the missions on that display screen right now, which area should I go to?"

So that thing is called a display screen... My Lord truly is knowledgeable.

Parker paused, then answered carefully, "If you just want to accept missions, you can go to the Mission Area."

He pointed to the most crowded part of the hall and added, "But we should go to another place first."

"Where?" Ronan asked curiously.

Knowing there was a place to accept missions, he had been ready to head straight there.

Parker smiled slightly, "My Lord, we should go to the Free Trade Area first."

"Only after hiring an Adventurer in the Free Trade Area can you go and accept the missions on the display screen."

Parker was full of confidence, "This is the conclusion I've drawn by combining what the Village Chief and Fair said."

"I see. Let's go," Ronan said noncommittally.

"Eh? My Lord, the Free Trade Area is that way." Seeing Ronan heading in the wrong direction, Parker hurried to catch up and remind him.

"No need for such trouble." Without looking back, Ronan walked straight toward the Mission Area.

Hearing this, Parker said no more and followed obediently behind him.

The Adventurers in the Mission Area were usually gathered in groups of several people, existing in the form of parties.

The parties Ronan passed were basically composed of various mixed races.

Few parties prioritized race when choosing teammates; strength was the primary consideration, followed by class composition.

Every race had its natural advantages, which led to certain ethnic groups being very well-suited for specific classes.

Take Dwarves, for example; besides their expertise in smelting and forging, they were very compatible with combat classes like Berserker and Shield Guard.

Assuming similar strength levels, a reasonable class composition could maximize the combat power of the entire party.

In other words, a party composed of members from different races was generally stronger than a party of the same race.

Ronan's party was the same: Shield Guard, Berserker, Ranger, Assassin, and Mage—balanced in offense and defense, with comprehensive functions.

Unfortunately, only he and Evil Axe were left now; whether they could even be called a party was debatable.

The official staff in the Guild hall were generally young and beautiful Grey Elves and human girls. With their sweet looks and approachable service attitude, most Adventurers couldn't bring themselves to make things difficult for them.

Mission Area.

When the human girl attending to Ronan saw him, her eyes suddenly lit up before quickly returning to normal.

"Respected Adventurer, Alice is at your service."

She wore a proper professional smile and asked, "How may I help you? Would you like to post a mission or accept one?"

Hearing this, Parker immediately understood.

"No wonder My Lord didn't go to the Free Trade Area; it turns out he is an Adventurer himself."

"No rush, give me an introduction first." Ronan looked at the sweet girl before him and returned the smile.

Alice's ears turned red, seemingly misinterpreting his intent. "Certainly, Adventurer."

"The Adventurers Guild has regulations for posting missions. Any customer with a certain level of credit who pays a deposit in advance can post a certain number of common-grade missions within the validity period."

"Once a mission is verified as valid, it will be distributed to the Mission Market to be accepted by qualified Adventurers."

"The Guild encourages posters to hand over the rewards to the Guild for safekeeping in advance. Punishments will be issued for mission fraud..."

She was indeed an excellent front-desk clerk; her professionalism was evident.

As Alice spoke, her previous hint of shyness had turned into seriousness and precision.

She paused for breath, then continued,

"As for accepting missions, any Adventurer registered with the Guild can use their adventurers badge to accept eligible missions in the hall's Mission Market."

"Once mission completion is confirmed, the Adventurer will receive the corresponding reward and Guild points."

"Additionally, points are divided into party points and individual points. The two can be converted freely, but they serve different purposes. For specifics, you can consult..."

Ronan got the general idea and gently interrupted, "Thank you for the explanation, beautiful lady."

"Alice." Alice spoke up proactively, her ears flushing red again. "My name is Alice, Adventurer. You can come to me for any business in the future."

"Alright, I just remembered a mission I haven't accepted. I'll come back to find you in a bit, okay?"

Ronan's tone was gentle, but he couldn't help but want to leave immediately and head straight for the display screen in the center of the hall.

"Certainly, Adventurer. It would be my honor."

Ronan rose quickly, then suddenly thought of something and turned back to ask, "By the way, do you need me to give you a five-star review?"

Alice was stunned, seemingly wondering what a 'five-star review' was.

"Never mind, I'll tell you after I accept the mission."

With that, Ronan turned and walked away.

Parker followed Ronan, feeling that he had learned a lot today, suddenly understanding so many rules of the Adventurers Guild.

Just as he was immersed in his newfound knowledge, Ronan in front of him suddenly turned back and asked,

"I remember your village is called 'Jiuwan Village', right?"

He didn't react for a moment, nodding blankly.

"There's actually a mission here regarding your village..."

Parker's heart tightened instantly, "My Lord, what happened to our village? To think it's reached the point where we need to hire Adventurers to solve it..."

Holding his badge, Ronan constantly filtered for missions with the lowest rewards in the Mission Market.

The adventurers badge could act as a remote control within the Guild hall.

Only after looking into it did Ronan realize that what everyone saw on the display screen was different.

What one could see was entirely determined by the badge and the Adventurer's own rank.

It was incredibly advanced; the original owner's understanding of the display screen had been entirely superficial.

After filtering, among a pile of missions with almost zero rewards, Ronan unexpectedly saw words related to Jiuwan Village.

Thus, he had curiously confirmed it with the local villager beside him.

When he clicked in, he found it was an investigation-type mission.

The wife of a certain villager in Jiuwan Village had gone missing. The last place she was seen was near the edge of the Monster Forest, and they hoped an Adventurer would go to investigate.

This investigation mission was also followed by a linked rescue mission.

This meant that after completing the prerequisite, the Adventurer could choose whether to continue with the follow-up mission.

Splitting the mission into investigation and rescue was quite a good idea, but the reward... Ronan glanced at the reward listed for the investigation mission: 1 silver wolf.

And the reward for the rescue mission... was also 1 silver wolf!

silver wolf was the name for silver coins in this world's currency system, named for the wolf's head engraved on the coin's face.

This was likely the currency Ronan was most familiar with.

Because the coin he had used to tip the Village Chief back then was a silver coin engraved with a wolf's head—1 silver wolf.
