67: Isn't this also a way to realize a dream?

Ruby Dream Hall, as one of the largest gold-consuming dens in Moonless City.

Whether it was the services provided or the luxury of the venue, it was by no means something an average person could experience.

Not to mention the entrance fee that had to be paid just to step through the door, even the seemingly ordinary food was in a completely different price range than similar items outside.

If it weren't for taking a mission, Ronan would never have stepped into such a place of his own accord in his life.

But for the owner of the face he was currently wearing, it was a different story.

Ronan gently pushed away the woman who kept rubbing against him, his voice slightly stiff.

"I'm on official business."

Upon hearing this, the woman's eyes welled with tears as she sighed mournfully, "Then I shall wait for you."

This image of a resentful lover waiting yet being understanding simply pushed the art of charm to its peak.

Despite this, as a traveler from another world who lived in an era of information explosion in his past life,

Ronan possessed his own deep foundation of appreciation and would not be so easily charmed.

He nodded, coldly waving away the circle of beauties surrounding him, and walked into a luxurious room with his team.

A lavish feast was laid out in the center of the room.

Sitting in the main seat was a man with a woman in each arm, a thick roll of tobacco in his mouth that looked somewhat like a cigar from Ronan's previous life.

"Sit," he waved his hand casually, signaling Ronan and the others to take their seats. "Have something to eat."

The three Halflings' eyes instantly turned green with greed as they grabbed the large portions of fish and meat on the table and began devouring them.

Savage Stone also reached out, wanting to grab a succulent roasted ham in front of him, but suddenly felt his foot being kicked under the table.

Then, Ronan spoke up, "Let's talk business first."

"Are you a mage?" The man's gaze sized him up.

"Arcane Arts Society Mage, Black Day," Ronan introduced himself.

"That's great then." The man looked delighted. He signaled the three women beside him to withdraw, straightened his clothes, and spoke up.

"One of my top stars has gone missing, and no other traces can be found at the scene. You mages all have Spiritual Power; help me investigate using your Spiritual Power..."

"If you can find the person, I'll give double the reward, and there are also rewards for relevant clues..."

"Of course, regardless of whether you succeed, the mission reward will be paid in full."

Hearing that the reward was so generous, Ronan immediately nodded solemnly.

"Rest assured, we will do our utmost."

Just as he finished speaking, the three Halflings gave a very disrespectful belch.

The three of them had plunged directly into the feast as soon as they entered, seemingly forgetting there was a mission at all.

"Can you tell us about the missing person?"

"Also, take us to her living quarters to have a look. I need to investigate carefully with my Spiritual Power."

Ronan said this, but his Spiritual Power net had already quietly spread out, continuously extending to various parts of the entire building.

"Of course, I'll call someone to coordinate with you."

The man raised his hand and clapped.

Immediately, a woman who looked like a madam walked in, waiting submissively to the side.

"Won't you two eat something?" the man asked casually.

"We just ate before coming," Ronan looked at Savage Stone, his meaning self-evident.

"Me too." After being reminded, Savage Stone realized there might be something wrong with the food on the table and immediately followed Ronan's lead in refusing.

In his heart, Black Day's reliability rating soared.

In truth, Ronan didn't know if there was anything wrong with the food or not.

He was simply reminding Savage Stone not to casually eat or drink things from others in a strange environment.

Such behavior both affected one's image and easily posed a safety hazard.

"Since that's the case, she will coordinate with your work." The man didn't force it and ordered the madam to take them down.

"Everyone, please follow this humble one."

Although the madam was older, her voice was gentle and moving, possessing a unique charm.

She led the way at the front, with Ronan and Savage Stone following closely behind, while the three Halflings, their bellies bulging, waddled at the very back.

By this time, Ronan's Spiritual Power net had extended from the first floor to the top floor.

There weren't many guests at the Ruby Dream Hall during the day; it was almost entirely resting staff.

But there was no lack of some outstanding employees who worked hard day and night.

Ronan felt he might need to wash his eyes in a moment; they were playing way too wild... However, with this sweep of Spiritual Power, he actually discovered a familiar figure.

Why would he be here?

Doubt rose in Ronan's heart as his gaze turned toward a young man on a lower floor.

The young man was now dressed decently, but his back was slightly hunched, and he met everyone with a fawning smile and a desire to please.

He was the villager from Jiuwan Village who had guided Ronan, Parker.

No wonder the last time he went to Jiuwan Village, the village chief said he had gone to the city to make money.

It turned out he had managed to get into the place he had been longing for as a worker.

Ronan remembered that before, Parker always wanted Ronan to bring him to these places to spend money.

Later, seeing that Ronan had no such intention, he could only give up very unwillingly.

He hadn't expected Parker to be able to flexibly change his thinking; if he couldn't be a customer, he would become a staff member.

This too was a way to fulfill a dream.

Ronan was currently wearing a strange face, so naturally, he wouldn't have any interaction with him.

He followed the madam for a long time and arrived at a locked room.

In the perception of his Spiritual Power net, the several adjacent rooms had already been cleared out.

"This is the residence where Red Cherry lived before she disappeared," the madam introduced while taking out a key to unlock the door.

Pushing the door open, the items inside the room were orderly; there were indeed no obvious signs of a struggle.

Ronan swept through with his Spiritual Power and could even see a thick layer of dust covering the floor.

"Is this where she usually lives?"

Ronan asked helplessly as he watched the three Halflings behind him already starting a massive search of the room scene.

It seemed that from the beginning, they only intended to take the basic base pay for failure and had no intention of actually finding the person.

"It's the place where she usually receives guests. Since she disappeared, no one has dared to come here," the madam said with some lamentation.

"Without Red Cherry these past few days, business has been much worse."

"Where does the window lead?" Ronan went to the window and pushed open the tightly closed shutters.

The window faced the main river of Moonless City, the moonlight spilling onto the quiet water surface, creating a beautiful scene of peaceful times.

"Um... Black Day," Savage Stone walked to his side and asked quietly, "Are you really sure you can find the person?"

"What's wrong, big guy?" Ronan raised an eyebrow. "Are you short on money?"

Savage Stone whispered, "One of the rewards is a soul bell. I don't know if it's real or fake..."

"Hope is slim," Ronan shook his head.

He knew about things like the soul bell; it was said they could allow the living to see their deceased relatives one more time through soul summoning, but the probability was somewhat remote.

Moreover, Ash Leaf probably wasn't dead yet, while Red Hammer and Drill Mouse had even had their souls devoured completely... If one really wanted to summon souls, they really couldn't be summoned.

Furthermore, for a mere missing person mission to have this level of reward, it was obvious that the soul bell given wouldn't be the real thing, at most a low-quality imitation.

His phrase 'hope is slim' actually carried these three layers of meaning.

"What's this?" The three Little Mustache ones rummaged through the chests and cupboards and found a small box.

The small box was made of a jade-like material, and it was somewhat difficult to open by hand.

Where did this box come from?

Ronan was startled.

He had just swept the room with his Spiritual Power and actually hadn't noticed this box.

Sweeping again now, he actually discovered that his Spiritual Power could not penetrate into the box.

"What's inside here?"

Little Mustache snatched it away and directly pried it open with force.

"Don't..." Ronan didn't have time to stop him.

In the next second,

The small box suddenly erupted with a shockwave.

This wasn't just a simple physical impact; it was also mixed with a soul attack on the spiritual level.

In an instant, everyone in the room was hit by the impact and fell down one after another.

Ronan felt a buzzing in his ears and also collapsed to the ground; this was caused by the simple physical impact.

If his body were a bit stronger, it probably wouldn't have come to this.

As for the soul attack, it was automatically neutralized the moment it invaded his soul.

"How is it? Is everything settled?"

A familiar voice sounded from outside.

"Mm."

There was a response from inside the room, and someone stood up from the floor again.
