6: Thank you so much!

Without the special power boost, the dead Bear Goblin was much easier to chop up.

Evil Axe muttered to himself as he dismantled the valuable materials.

"We're rich, we're rich! Think of how much all these materials will sell for!"

Before long, Shield Mountain and Eagle Eye followed Ronan to Evil Axe's butchering site.

Shield Mountain and Eagle Eye gave Evil Axe a hand. Together, the three of them skinned the most valuable fur, folded it, and placed it before Ronan.

Only then did the three of them begin to distribute the resources.

Ronan took out a folding pouch he carried with him and grabbed the fur, intending to put it inside.

This folding pouch, also known as a storage pouch, was one of the two pieces of equipment the Adventurers Guild provided to registered Adventurers.

Although it couldn't compare to a space ring and had very limited storage space, it was the storage equipment most favored by Adventurers, and almost everyone had one.

However, the moment Ronan touched the fur, a notification flashed before his eyes.

[Godhead initial repair in progress... 0.1%]

A steady stream of power was being transferred from the fur; it was the same special power that had boosted the Bear Goblin.

As the power continued to transfer, the repair percentage of the Godhead kept rising.

0.7%... 1.5%... Once the power transfer ceased, the information on the panel stabilized:

[Status: Severely Damaged (Repairing/3%)]

Ronan was overjoyed. He quickly ran over to the other three and began to sense the other Bear Goblin remains piece by piece with his fingers.

If the Godhead could truly be repaired, wouldn't that mean he could make wishes normally? He wouldn't have to cautiously explore those vague, inexplicable laws, constantly testing the edges of danger.

At this thought, Ronan's heart burned with even more fervor. He stared at the Bear Goblin remains on the ground as if they were peerless treasures.

"White Night, if you change your mind, all the loot can go to you."

Shield Mountain felt Ronan's gaze was a bit strange and silently put down the bear paw in his hand.

"After all, if it weren't for you, whether we'd even be alive is another matter, let alone being here..."

"I'm just looking. You guys go ahead and divide it up."

After a casual reply, he continued to bury himself in the various remains, carefully sensing for any more special power that could be absorbed.

Unfortunately, except for the fur, no other part possessed this special power.

Ronan was deeply disappointed.

"If you're looking for that special power, I think we might know..." Shield Mountain observed Ronan for a while and guessed his objective.

He looked at the other two team members, and they both nodded in affirmation.

"There's a treasure chest in the Bear Goblin Cave; it's definitely related to what's inside that chest," Evil Axe said decisively, then added with a look of regret, "Last time, we were so close to opening it and getting the contents."

"Speaking of which, why don't we..."

Before Eagle Eye could finish, his two teammates immediately realized what he meant.

"That's right! The Bear Goblin is already in pieces. That damn cave is empty now, isn't it?"

Evil Axe was stunned, engaging in self-reflection for the first time in his life. "How the hell did I not think of this sooner!"

He immediately turned his head, looking at Shield Mountain with burning eyes. "Captain..."

Shield Mountain naturally wanted to agree immediately and call his teammates to the Bear Goblin Cave.

But before that, he stole a subtle glance at Ronan. Seeing that Ronan didn't seem to object, he responded:

"Pack up the loot quickly, we're heading for the Bear Goblin's lair!"

Finally, he specifically asked Ronan,

"White Night, what do you think? Of course, you'll still have first pick of the harvest."

Ronan also really wanted to see what it was that could both significantly enhance a Bear Goblin and be absorbed to repair the Godhead.

Perhaps letting the Godhead absorb a bit more would complete the initial repair.

With no danger and benefits to be had, Ronan naturally wouldn't refuse.

However, another question occurred to him. "If we all go, what about the Employer?"

"The value of these materials already far exceeds the reward for the commission. Why should we care about those burdens..."

As Evil Axe spoke, he noticed that Shield Mountain and Ronan's expressions weren't quite right.

"But then again..."

"Our team has always had a good reputation. We can't just abandon our Employer for a little profit!"

"I won't do such a filthy thing that would damage the honor of the dwarves!"

Although no one paid him any attention, Evil Axe kept trying to save face.

"Bring them all along. It's not dangerous anyway; at most, we'll just return to town a bit later," Shield Mountain said to Ronan, clearly not seeing any issue.

"I don't think the two beautiful ladies will mind."

..."No, no way! I don't agree!"

As soon as the Young Lady heard that the team was going to another place instead of returning to town immediately, she became like a cat with its fur standing on end.

"Why? Is there some urgent matter?" the maid asked patiently from the side. She was much more rational than the Young Lady.

"We've already lost a companion. Now that the crisis has just passed, shouldn't we take this opportunity to return to town as soon as possible?"

"We are the same; we've lost an important partner."

Shield Mountain glanced at the spot where Wolf Fang had been buried and said in a heavy tone,

"But there are some things that must be done. Otherwise, we'd be failing our partner's sacrifice even more."

Shield Mountain's look of extreme grief momentarily left Ronan a bit stunned.

If he hadn't already known they were going treasure hunting, seeing that expression would have made him think the captain was about to lead the whole team to a heroic death.

To be able to beautify personal greed so grandiosely... It had to be said, no one who could survive in the Adventurer circle and serve as a captain was a simple character.

However, as a beneficiary, Ronan wasn't in a position to criticize anyone.

Thus, when the Young Lady asked him to see justice done, he could only remain silent.

"Lord Mage, you be the judge. Shouldn't Adventurers who accept a commission consider their Employer's interests?"

Seeing that Ronan didn't respond, the Young Lady finally realized that these Adventurers were all on the same side.

"Aren't you afraid I'll complain to the Adventurers Guild?!" the Young Lady said, exasperated.

"I'm telling you, my father is... when the time comes..."

The maid, Amy, quickly reached out and covered the Young Lady's ill-timed threat.

Shield Mountain's eyes already held a dangerous glint, his gaze piercing the Employer like a sharp sword.

"I'm sorry, Miss Celia rarely goes out and tends to speak without thinking. I hope you lords won't mind."

Amy immediately stepped forward to apologize, her attitude very sincere.

However, her hands were still firmly restraining the Young Lady, creating a bit of a contrast in her current state.

The Young Lady was still struggling, so Amy simply leaned in and whispered a few words in her ear.

After that, the Young Lady stopped speaking, and the light in her eyes faded bit by bit.

"It's fine, we don't mind."

Shield Mountain turned with a smile and walked back to where the loot was being distributed, as if nothing had happened.

But he didn't say a word on the way back, his true emotions clearly not matching his outward appearance.

"Don't worry. If anything unexpected happens, I'll prioritize protecting you."

Ronan turned to offer a word of comfort, only to see the maid and the Young Lady exchange a glance.

Then, Amy took out an emblem from her pocket that emitted a faint white glow.

"Lord Mage, you... you're a good person. I know you're also caught up in this against your will."

With that, the emblem in Amy's hand instantly shot out a silent beam of light straight into the sky.

Ronan didn't understand the maid's action; after the emblem glowed, nothing happened.

He intended to ask, but then he heard the Second Young Master's voice.

"Lord Mage, thank you so much."

The Second Young Master had just woken up from his unconscious state and seemed full of energy.

He stood up and enthusiastically opened his arms, giving Ronan a big hug.

Just as Ronan felt something was off, the Second Young Master's next words made him feel as if he had fallen into an ice cellar.
