92: Chapter 92, President, I never said there was a problem with the materials.

Ronan immediately headed to the Secretariat.

Before leaving, he specifically instructed Black Day that if Arabella returned, she should wait for him at home and not go out.

Immediately after, he rushed toward the Secretariat without stopping.

The ominous premonition in his heart grew stronger and stronger.

Ronan moved like the wind, his speed far beyond what it was when he was weak and frail.

After a period of constant strengthening by the Yin He Stone, his constitution had long since reached the level of a normal person, even slightly surpassing it.

He was no longer a mage who couldn't run far even when fleeing for his life, but a mage who could run a long distance without even needing to flee.

He had been to the Secretariat once before; although there had been some unpleasantness, he had at least memorized the route.

Following the route in his memory, Ronan sprinted desperately.

Only one thought occupied his mind: he hoped Arabella was working safely at the Secretariat.

Whatever happened in the Chairman's office had nothing to do with them.

However, the outcome was destined to disappoint him.

"It's you, Lord Black Day," a female secretary who had seen Ronan before said in surprise. "Is there something I can help you with?"

"Where did Arabella go?" Ronan asked anxiously. "When did she leave?"

"Lord Black Day, your fiancée didn't come to work today," the female secretary said, puzzled.

Those words caused Ronan's heart to sink to the bottom instantly.

Without another word, he immediately ran toward the Chairman's office, adjusting the perspective of the Soul Seed remotely as he ran.

In the current image, Supervisor Liqi was nowhere to be seen, and the Chairman's office was a mess.

Many tables and chairs had been recklessly overturned, bookshelves had collapsed, numerous books were scattered on the floor, and even the monster heads hanging on the wall were tilted to one side.

He worked hard to control the Soul Seed, slowly adjusting the perspective.

The Soul Seed could not transmit sound, but based on the scene, the office was clearly empty.

However, when he saw the image after rotating the Soul Seed's perspective, he immediately changed his mind.

In the image, beneath the wall where the monster heads originally hung, a pitch-black hole had appeared.

Ronan was startled, and at that moment, he arrived outside the Chairman's office.

He nimbly passed through the office's kicked-in door and retrieved the Soul Seed as he went.

This seed could move freely within a certain range around him, and was not as clunky as when controlled remotely.

He cautiously expanded his Spiritual Domain, trying his best to keep the range constrained to a level that wouldn't be easily detected by others.

Then, Ronan quietly slipped into the extra hole in the floor.

The hole connected to a deep staircase that extended continuously downward.

Recalling past experiences, whenever he saw an underground area now, he always felt that nothing good would happen.

Ronan walked for a long time before sensing a flicker of light through his Spiritual Domain.

Following that light, he came to a wide underground space.

This space wasn't particularly large, but it was about half the size of the Third Floor Area.

The surroundings were filled with various experimental equipment and thick cylindrical apparatuses that looked like some kind of special iron cages.

Rather than a concealed space hidden deep underground, it was more like a large-scale laboratory buried beneath the earth.

In the center of the space stood a high platform of considerable area.

At this moment, on the platform, Chairman Charles and Logistics Department Supervisor Liqi stood on opposite sides, locked in a confrontation.

The Chairman was panting continuously, his aura appearing somewhat withered, faintly at a disadvantage.

Meanwhile, Supervisor Liqi's expression was one of indignation, and from his aura, he seemed to have a slight upper hand.

Hearing the sound of Ronan's arrival, both men on the platform froze simultaneously and turned their heads to look over.

"You're actually fine?"

Supervisor Liqi looked surprised, his eyes filled with a playful glint.

He curled his hands into half-claws, elemental energy gathering between his palms, and gave a sudden push.

In an instant, a wave of light shot out from between his hands, heading straight for the Chairman.

The Chairman hurriedly lunged to the side, barely dodging the attack of the light wave.

Supervisor Liqi gave a contemptuous smile and gave a precise tug with his hand; the light wave then chased closely behind the Chairman.

Boom.

An explosion shook the entire space.

Ronan was shocked by the power of the light wave; the way it manifested was almost like the Kamehameha from the manga of his previous life.

Dust scattered where the Chairman had been hit.

Just as Supervisor Liqi was about to relax, a black light suddenly shot out from the dust, heading straight for his face.

This black light made him feel a fatal threat; he tilted his head back, narrowly dodging the blow aimed directly at his forehead.

Immediately, he arched his waist and fired another light wave toward the dust.

This time, the light wave hit the Chairman inside the dust head-on.

The intense impact caused the dust to dissipate instantly, revealing the Chairman's condition.

At this point, the Chairman had both hands pushed forward, holding up a dark red energy shield.

This energy shield had a strange texture; it looked like energy but also seemed to transform into a blood-like state.

Ronan guessed that this energy shield likely belonged to School of Life magic, while the black light from before was Necromancy Magic.

Now, Supervisor Liqi and the Chairman—one firing a light wave, the other blocking with an energy shield—were at a stalemate, reaching a bizarre equilibrium.

"Quick, help me!"

"Quick, help me!"

Both of them thought of Ronan at the same time and spoke simultaneously.

At this moment, he became the key factor that could decide the battle.

"No, how do you have the face to say such words?" Ronan said, his gaze shifting between the two.

"Black Day, be careful, his methods are very strange."

Although the Chairman was in poor condition, he had enough confidence in Ronan.

"Don't listen to him! Didn't you notice he already tried to kill you?" Supervisor Liqi shouted loudly.

Ronan stood against the light, the expression on his face flickering between light and shadow.

He didn't respond, but instead walked slowly onto the platform, stepping into the battlefield between the two.

His arrival immediately placed immense pressure on the two men locked in a stalemate on the platform.

At this point, if one side of the stalemate lost, they would suffer the combined explosion of both the energy shield and the light wave.

Ronan maintained a relatively safe distance, dangerous energy constantly gathering at his fingertips.

His face was grim as he asked, "Why?"

Then, he raised his finger and aimed the Scorching Ray at the Chairman.

"What are you doing? Black Day!"

The Chairman was startled by Ronan's action.

If he was hit by Ronan's Ray now, he wouldn't just face the damage of one spell, but three!

"What exactly are you doing? Ricci prepared the materials; he's the one who actually acted!" the Chairman explained hurriedly.

Hearing this, Ronan shook his head and said, "Chairman, I never said the materials were the problem."

The Chairman froze and fell into silence.

Knowing he had let it slip, he simply stopped pretending, and a cold expression appeared on his face. "You're quite lucky; since you hadn't prepared the potion yet, consider yourself to have escaped with your life."

"Who told you I didn't prepare the potion?" Ronan didn't even lift his eyelids.

"Either you hadn't prepared the potion yet and didn't discover the problem with the materials, escaping by luck—"

"Or you discovered the problem with the materials and therefore didn't prepare the potion—"

The Chairman followed the logic, very interested in the possible reasons. "What, is there another possibility?"

"I did indeed discover that there was a problem with the herbs," Ronan said in a flat tone. "But I wasn't sure if it was because of Supervisor Liqi or because of you."

"I don't doubt Supervisor Liqi's ability to distinguish materials."

"Although the probability is small, I couldn't rule out the possibility that Supervisor Liqi had accidentally made a mistake."

"So I specifically tested what the result would be if I added the moon soul flower to the potion according to the normal preparation process—"

"I can only say my precautions were adequate enough that I wasn't taken out instantly."

"Therefore, I am more inclined to believe that on the material list you gave Supervisor Liqi, you deliberately changed the original moon sleep flower to moon soul flower."

"By this stage of the experiment, you were the only one who knew that replacing the moon sleep flower with the moon soul flower would cause fatal damage, Chairman."

Ronan's gaze was burning, his Spiritual Domain fully spread out, and the target of his 'Scorching Ray' had long been locked onto the Chairman.

"This was a death trap carefully prepared for me."

"Sorry, Chairman, when I learned that someone in the Academy wanted to kill me, I became a few more degrees more cautious than usual."

"Well done! Black Day," Supervisor Liqi praised. "That's right, the moon soul flower was written on the material list I received—"

"No wonder he dared to arrogantly tell me you were dead; so that was where the problem lay!"

"I really shouldn't have cooperated with those people; it made you alert in advance."

The Chairman cursed under his breath, "Truly a bunch of worthless trash, and to think I—"

"Chairman, I answered your question, why don't you answer mine?"

Ronan looked at him expressionlessly and said, "Why do you want to kill me?"

"Heh, you ask that question quite righteously." The Chairman's face was full of mockery. "As the Chairman of the Arcane Arts Society, do I need any other reason to kill a spy sent by the Adventurers Guild?"

Ronan's heart skipped a beat, but on the surface, he remained composed.

How did he find out?

Before he could carefully recall where he had slipped up, Supervisor Liqi, who was beside them, asked angrily, "What did you do to Arabella?"

Ronan was startled and immediately snapped out of his thoughts.

So, Supervisor Liqi had recklessly broken into the Chairman's office, searched extensively, and even discovered this secret passage to track him here—

It was all because of Arabella.

"Don't think I don't know; you took Arabella away this morning, and she never walked out of the office."

Supervisor Liqi stared fixedly at the Chairman, his anger rising.

"You really did plant an informant by my side—" The Chairman seemed to have expected this, his face full of indifference as he mocked, "You old guys really treat that little girl like your own daughter."

"Back then, when I personally killed her parents, she was still an infant in swaddling clothes—I'm the one who has raised her all these years."

The Chairman's tone was playful. "In a way, I could be called her father, couldn't I?"

"You don't deserve that title!"

Supervisor Liqi was instantly enraged by those words, and the light wave in his hand suddenly grew more than twice as thick.

At the same time, his skin gradually shriveled, and his face was rapidly aging.

In order to eliminate the opponent in one blow, he did not hesitate to use a secret art that burned his life force.
