82: Blood Lord Mentor

News of the Secretariat Director's affair with a subordinate spread throughout the Arcane Arts Society in just a single day.

Even some tutors who usually focused solely on research had heard the rumors.

Next, he just needed to hand over the problematic rune stone as evidence to the President.

Then, the two in the affair would basically be unable to escape the blame for conspiring against Arabella.

To prevent the President from returning through the window in an unconventional way, Ronan simply infused a bit more Spiritual Power to move the initial seed further into the office.

Using the initial seed as a camera, he would know if the President had returned.

Early the next morning.

Arabella appeared at the door of 761 quite early, and her knocking even woke up New Lord in the neighboring 762.

“Miss Secretary, it's so early in the morning, can't you just get a key to 761?” New Lord said with sleepy eyes.

“Administrative staff cannot privately possess keys to student residences,” Arabella said.

“Just have him give you one, considering your relationship,” New Lord said as if it were only natural.

“If you ask me, you two should just live together...”

“Don't talk nonsense...” Arabella's face instantly turned bright red.

Living together? That would be moving way too fast.

“What living together?” Ronan poked his head out.

This time, he had quickly washed up before opening the door to avoid being teased again.

“Nothing.” Arabella pushed him back into the room and quickly shut the door.

New Lord yawned on the side and was about to go back inside for a nap when he saw Darsi's figure hurrying over from a distance... “Aren't we going out?” Ronan knew.

Arabella had come to go to the President's office with him.

Although he knew the President hadn't returned, the updated manuscript had to be taken to the President's office anyway; perhaps the President would happen to return during that time.

Knock, knock, knock.

Before Arabella could speak, there was another knock at the door.

Ronan opened the door and saw Darsi standing next to New Lord.

“Is something wrong, Darsi?”

“Well...” New Lord glanced extremely subtly at Arabella inside the room and winked frantically at Ronan, “How about you come out and talk?”

Ronan clearly didn't understand his meaning and said with a smile, “Why don't you come in and talk? Arabella isn't an outsider.”

If only she were an outsider... New Lord slapped his forehead and gave up the struggle.

As soon as Darsi entered the room, he loudly stated his purpose, “Lord Black Day, your ex-wife has come to find you.”

The atmosphere in the room changed instantly.

After Darsi said this, he suddenly felt an inexplicable chill.

“Where did I get an ex-wife?” Ronan looked puzzled and asked back, “Are you sure you have the right person?”

“I'm not too sure. It's a human woman who can describe your appearance.”

Darsi added, “She says she's your ex-wife from your hometown and is currently waiting for you in the lobby.”

“Then let's go to the lobby and see,” Arabella said, her tone devoid of any emotion.

“Alright.” Ronan nodded. He thought through his acquaintances and vaguely guessed who it was.

The group rushed to the lobby.

Ronan saw a girl wrapped entirely in a black cloak, her face somewhat pale.

“Why are you here, Pelly?”

Ronan's call immediately confirmed the 'ex-wife' claim.

New Lord immediately closed his eyes and thought to himself, 'It's over.'

“Come with me.” Pelly grabbed Ronan's hand, wanting to pull him to a place where no one else was.

“Why don't we just talk here? No one here is an outsider.” Arabella grabbed the corner of Ronan's clothes.

“Who's this?” Pelly looked at Arabella's ample chest and puffed out her own chest somewhat defiantly, asking, “Your mistress?”

“Did you come here just to spread rumors about me?” Ronan was speechless.

Pelly leaned into his ear and whispered, “I'm a mercenary. To come to your nest to find you, I needed a formal identity.”

“If you didn't say anything, who would know you're a mercenary?” Ronan countered.

“That's not necessarily true. I'm very famous.” Pelly had a disdainful 'what do you know' expression.

“Then couldn't you have used a different identity? Like saying you're my sister or something.”

“Do you want to go look in a mirror and compare the huge gap between our looks?”

Ronan: “...”

Is it my fault this face isn't handsome?

“Enough nonsense. I came this time to tell you something important.”

Her face turned serious as she said, “Remember that Ruby Dream Hall we took down before?”

“Of course. How did your previous operation go?” Ronan asked. He hadn't kept up with information regarding that.

“It went smoothly. Although the people from other places were gone, those girls were rescued and are currently recuperating at the Counts Manor...”

“That's good then.” Ronan then joked, “Did you level the place?”

“That's the crux of the problem.” Pelly's face darkened as she continued, “After the Ruby Dream Hall was hit by the Count, it underwent a complete renovation, and a large group of responsible parties were arrested...”

“I thought it should be finished, but when I looked yesterday, it had a new 'Sapphire Dream Hall' sign and was back in business.”

“What's going on?” Ronan's expression turned serious.

“I sneaked in to investigate last night. I didn't find out much else, but I did hear news related to you.”

“What does it have to do with me?”

“Someone in the Academy wants to kill you.” Pelly said with a serious face, then asked,

“Who on earth did you offend?”

Ronan's face was as deep as water. He also wanted to know who the specific enemy was.

He felt that the previous traps set for him were inextricably linked to the Academy.

Back then, not only had the Employer just returned from the Academy, but the trap set for him was also executed through a student in the Academy.

“I don't know either.” Ronan shook his head, then asked, “Did you see who the person saying this was?”

“I only heard others call his name, and then I was discovered. I barely managed to escape...”

Pelly suddenly opened her black cloak, revealing only a dress soaked in blood underneath and a body covered in wounds.

“Are you okay!?” Ronan was startled and immediately stepped forward to help her sit down.

“Why didn't you get treatment before coming?”

Ronan immediately cast several “Healing Spells” on her in succession.

Spheres of green light emerged from his palm and quickly flew toward Pelly's wounds, greatly alleviating her condition.

“I was afraid if I came late, you would have been taken out first.” Pelly smiled.

“You can still laugh.” Ronan's face was terrifyingly dark. “Who was it?”

“I didn't see his face, I only heard others call him Lord Parker.”

Ronan's heart skipped a beat. It was actually him? He was actually still alive... Parker was just an ordinary person; there must be someone behind him, and it's highly likely that person is in the Academy.

“Arabella, can Pelly stay at my place to recover for now?”

Ronan didn't know if the Academy allowed outsiders to live within its grounds.

“Lord Black Day, family members of students are allowed to live in the Academy,” Darsi reminded from the side.

Just as he finished speaking, he felt an icy gaze shoot down, as if it were piercing right through him.

“Darsi, go tend to your business.” Arabella said with a smile, her voice carrying an air of dominance.

“Mr. Black Day is involved in a case; the specific arrangements will be decided by the Secretariat.”

Darsi nodded and left as if he were fleeing.

“Is it okay, Arabella?” Ronan looked at her expectantly.

Pelly had disregarded her own wounds just to bring him the news; he couldn't just let her go back like that.

“It's okay, but you have to give me a key to your residence first.”

Arabella added, “That way it'll be convenient for me to come over and pick up manuscripts in the future...”

“Alright.” Ronan nodded and said to Pelly, “You're so badly injured, don't go running around. Stay at my place until your wounds are healed.”

“Free food and board? I knew I didn't come to the wrong place...”

Pelly's mind relaxed, and exhaustion hit her like a tide. She leaned onto Ronan's back and fell asleep... After settling Pelly in 761, Ronan and Arabella headed to the President's office together.

“Don't misunderstand, Pelly isn't my ex-wife, she's...” Ronan explained. He felt it was necessary to prove his innocence.

“Former Vice Commander of the Iron Blood Mercenary Group, Pelly Fenrir, one of the inheritors of the Fenrir Family bloodline...” Arabella introduced.

“So you knew.”

And she knew the other's information better than he did.

“Your ex-wife is quite famous in Moonless City,” Arabella said flatly.

“I said she's not my ex-wife...”

As the two talked, they were not far from the President's office.

However, a figure appeared ahead at this time.

He was wearing a uniform that Ronan had never seen before in the Academy. Unlike the students whose collars had various colors, both sides of his collar were inlaid with two hexagrams.

Ronan had seen it in the Academy's rank manual; this was a uniform that only tutors could wear.

“You are Black Day?”

Seeing the two of them, the newcomer walked unhurriedly toward them and asked in a flat tone.

“I am.” Ronan nodded.

Arabella whispered in his ear, her expression somewhat awkward, “This is Tutor ‘Blood Duke’.”

Blood Duke... Ronan thought for a moment and immediately understood.

This was the cuckolded victim of Director Dick and Secretary Lena... Arabella quietly pulled Ronan from behind, signaling him to leave quickly.

“Was it you who discovered my wife's affair with someone else?”

Blood Duke asked unhurriedly. Ronan couldn't hear any emotion in his tone.

“Tutor Blood Duke, that was just an accident, we...”

Arabella stepped forward, but only halfway through her explanation, she suddenly found her chest pierced through by a blood-colored thread.

Pfft.

A metallic sweetness welled up in her throat, followed by a large amount of blood spraying from her mouth.

Her pupils began to dilate, her vision gradually blurred, and she felt as if all her strength had been drained, slowly collapsing.

She wanted to cry out, but she couldn't open her mouth no matter what. She could only look in Ronan's direction, the screams in her heart echoing over and over.

Run!

Run!!
