106: Doing good deeds requires leaving your name.

This global live broadcast constantly tugged at everyone's heartstrings, especially those in coastal cities who hadn't yet evacuated.

Continuous heavy rainfall had caused water levels to rise, submerging more than half the city, making material transport much more difficult.

Because He Ming ordered Baize to prioritize eliminating the geocore resonators around Dragon Country, the disaster had been minimized. Coupled with Dragon Country's efforts to relocate affected citizens at all costs, there weren't too many casualties.

But overseas, things weren't so fortunate.

Not all countries would prioritize the safety of their citizens like Dragon Country.

For the first two days, it was just heavy rain, but from the third day onwards, tsunamis of unprecedented scale swallowed countless coastal cities, causing incalculable deaths and injuries.

What was once an international financial center had now become one of the most severely affected major cities.

Inside a 20th-floor office of a certain skyscraper.

The reporter Lillard huddled under a desk, shivering from the cold.

Power and water were out, and food had long run out.

There were three other people in the room, all employees who worked in this building.

"I've had enough!"

A balding middle-aged man suddenly went crazy, picked up a chair, and smashed it against the floor-to-ceiling window.

The chair hit the glass with a dull thud, but because the glass was made in Dragon Country, it didn't shatter; it only left a white mark.

"Damn politicians, they deceived us, deceived everyone!"

"When Dragon Country chose to lock down cities and relocate citizens, these politicians actually said they were creating panic and restricting people's freedom."

"Oh my god, it's so ridiculous. I actually believed their nonsense back then."

"F*ck!"

A young man wrapped in a blanket, leaning in a corner, sighed and said dejectedly, "Jack, what's the use of saying all this now? Let's just save our strength and wait for rescue."

Speaking of rescue, Jack became even more agitated.

He had been trapped in the office for almost three days and hadn't seen any rescue efforts.

"Wait for rescue?"

Jack walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, pointing at the rooftops almost submerged by seawater, and the people shivering in the wind and rain.

"They're doomed. No one is coming to save them."

The more Jack thought about it, the more stifled he felt. He casually picked up a chair to smash it against the floor-to-ceiling window, but the moment he looked up, he suddenly saw something flying towards them in the sky.

Huh!

What was that black dot?

Jack was a bit puzzled, unable to comprehend.

In such extreme weather conditions, how could any plane still be flying?

But if it wasn't a plane, then what was this fast-moving black dot?

He put down the chair, rubbed his eyes carefully, and looked into the distance through the blurry glass window.

"Come look, everyone, could that be a rescue plane?"

Lillard's eyes lit up. He crawled out from under the desk, carrying his camera equipment to the floor-to-ceiling window. He aimed the lens at the sky and quickly zoomed in.

The other three in the office crowded over. When they saw what it was, they all froze.

What appeared in the lens was the Kunpeng. As the camera moved, its mountain-like body plunged into the sea.

Lillard reacted and hurriedly said, "Do your phones still have power? Turn on the live broadcast quickly!"

"Mine still has some."

The speaker turned on his phone. What greeted their eyes was the Kunpeng's first-person view, like a giant whale in the deep sea, rapidly diving to the seabed.

The upper right corner of the screen thoughtfully displayed the diving depth.

1000 meters.

2300 meters.

4500 meters... By the time it reached the seabed, the depth had reached an astonishing 8600 meters.

The seabed was deep and pitch black, with only the searchlights illuminating a small surrounding area.

Inside the room, the four people held their breath, staring at the phone screen, their hearts extremely tense!

In the camera, a strange pentagonal base finally appeared. With each flash of its red light, a violent tremor came from the seabed.

"This is what caused us to be trapped here!!!"

"It's true, they didn't lie to us, there really are aliens."

As the Kunpeng inserted its specialized port into the base, the next second, the continuously flashing red light quieted down, turning green, spreading outwards to the surrounding seabed and permeating deep into the geocore.

Just as the four of them had their hearts in their throats, sweating profusely from tension... the phone ran out of battery and automatically shut down.

"Oh, my God!"

"Damn it, why did it suddenly die? Did it succeed or not?"

Lillard went to the floor-to-ceiling window and aimed his camera at a flagpole in the distance.

"If the water level hasn't continued to rise, then it must have succeeded."

The other three came over at his words, staring nervously at the flagpole in the camera, which was swaying in the strong wind.

One minute passed, and the water level showed no significant change; it still appeared to be only halfway up the flagpole.

Five minutes passed, no change whatsoever.

Half an hour later.

Jack's face showed signs of ecstasy!

"The water level hasn't changed!"

Lillard let out a long breath, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"That must mean it succeeded!"

The young man expressed confusion.

"The water level hasn't dropped either, that doesn't really prove anything, does it?"

Jack and Lillard looked at him as if he were an idiot.

Lillard pushed up his black-rimmed glasses and explained with a wry smile, "The water level hasn't changed, but the heavy rain hasn't stopped either."

The young man seemed to have realized something!

"That's right, why didn't I think of that!"

"With such heavy rain, yet no change in the water level, doesn't this prove that these damn seawater is slowly receding back into the sea?"

The four people in the office breathed a sigh of relief, regaining their hope for survival.

"I'm going to go look upstairs again, maybe I can find something to eat."

"I'll go with you, Jack."

...The once lifeless city seemed to come alive.

Scattered cheers began to erupt from the high-rises, followed by shouts, suppressed to the extreme and then released, linking together into a continuous roar.

Although they were still trapped in the high-rises, at least they no longer had to worry about the water level continuing to rise.

Just then, the Kunpeng, with its massive, mountain-like body, leaped out of the sea and swiftly traversed this former global financial metropolis.

"Oh my God, what kind of monster is this!"

"Is this really something humans can build?"

"Isn't this the Kunpeng? My goodness, I'm seeing a real mecha in reality! So Xinghai wasn't lying to us, all the live broadcast footage was real!"

The Kunpeng could quickly go to the coordinates of the next geocore resonator. This act of traversing the city would undoubtedly waste a lot of time.

But this was specifically instructed by He Ming: if I do good deeds without leaving my name, then wouldn't I have done good deeds for nothing?

If he couldn't harvest luck, then the rescue would lose its meaning.
