141: Predicting the future

Cohen leaned back in the captain's command chair, staring at the virtual star map, his brow furrowing.

His Deputy stood to the side, speaking softly.

"Captain, the hai star supercomputer's assessment is: do not allow these drones within a thousand kilometers of the fleet. The Blue Star people might be hiding tactical mechas among them."

"I'm considering that now."

He pointed at the virtual star map and continued, "The distribution of these drones is very loose. Our main cannons can't clear too many at once."

"Then should we dispatch a mobile unit?"

Cohen thought for a moment, then ordered, "Deploy the Ninth Mobile Squadron."

"Five mechas per group, free sweep!"

Twenty minutes later.

The Hai Star Ninth Mobile Squadron, a total of 50 mechas, was annihilated.

Cohen repeatedly reviewed the mobile squadron's flight paths and the footage sent back before they were destroyed.

Initially, things seemed normal. Against drones, even facing hundreds simultaneously, five mechas could push through in under a minute.

The number of drones destroyed reached 49,651.

Then, the scene shifted. Ten 'Yinglong' mechas, accompanied by thirty wingmen, annihilated the five-mecha group in a single encounter.

Cohen's mood became inexplicably irritable.

He felt as if there was a net above his head.

Since the start of the war, the Blue Star people's decisions regarding the Hai Star fleet had been extremely targeted.

The hai star supercomputer had already ruled out the possibility of internal manipulation, leaving only one possibility: the Blue Star people possessed some kind of over-the-horizon detection capability.

"This is going to be difficult."

To verify his suspicion, Cohen dispatched five hundred mechas this time, with fifty mechas per team.

The result was that they were all annihilated in less than half an hour.

Cohen pulled up one of the video recordings and reviewed it repeatedly.

Facing hundreds of aerospace fighters, the formation of fifty hai star mechas was still no match.

Although they did manage to destroy over 30 aerospace fighters this time, they were all wingmen.

"The Blue Star people have indeed mastered over-the-horizon reconnaissance technology."

Cohen rubbed his temples, at a loss as to how to proceed.

Dispatching large-scale mecha formations would inevitably lead to ambushes by tactical mechas, while too few would be overwhelmed and swallowed whole.

"What is the hai star supercomputer's recommendation?"

The Deputy replied, "Hold position and use battleship cannons for long-range suppression."

Cohen sighed, "I've fought wars my entire life, but I've never felt as stifled as I do today."

"Change formation. Establish a defensive perimeter around the judicator."

After the order was issued, 45 warships encircled the judicator, using their long-range firepower advantage to conduct a large-scale sweep of the 'Jiaolong' medium drones.

A single volley from the main cannons destroyed tens of thousands of drones.

A large area on the star map was instantly cleared, but Cohen's brow furrowed even deeper.

They had just destroyed over a hundred thousand drones, but in less than a minute, more drones would fill the void, and the encirclement was gradually closing in on the center.

"Distance."

"Captain, the Blue Star people's encirclement is still fifty thousand kilometers away from us."

"Deploy mobile units, establish a defensive perimeter, aim the battleship cannons at the Blue Star people's aerospace fighters, and fire immediately once they enter range."

"Yes!"

An hour later.

The encirclement had advanced another ten thousand kilometers.

Upon entering the forty-thousand-kilometer range, Hai Star drones, cooperating with their mobile units, began to exert force, completely blocking the 'Jiaolong' drones at this range, preventing them from advancing further.

On The pioneer, in the control room.

He Ming observed the intense battle through his omniscient notebook.

Exactly as predicted by the notebook, the battle had reached its most critical stage.

He opened his eyes and calmly said, "Deploy the fifth-generation mechas."

"Understood, sir."

A transport ship appeared on the main control screen, its hatch wide open, and one hundred fifth-generation mechas poured out.

There were 25 each of 'Kunpeng', 'Azure Dragon', 'Black Tortoise', and seraph.

All these mechas were unmanned, fully controlled by the super AI Bai Ze, with the four types forming a group, making up 25 squadrons.

An hour later.

When these 25 small squadrons joined the main battlefield, a breach was instantly opened in the stalemated battle.

The 'Black Tortoise' was primarily for defense, and it was the only mecha equipped with a third-generation flint core.

It could easily defend against even the main cannons of Hai Star warships.

The 'Kunpeng' was primarily for offense, carrying a heavy particle sniper rifle, like a small battleship cannon, with each shot capable of destroying several hai star mechas.

The seraph was the absolute bane of Hai Star drones; its 80 floating cannons, controlled by Bai Ze, were almost impregnable, relentlessly harvesting Hai Star drones attempting to surround them.

The 'Azure Dragon' was a great weapon specifically designed to deal with hai star mechas, wielding dual blades, unmatched in close combat.

If one were to only consider overall performance, these four mechas were on par with Hai Star's fifth-generation mechas.

The reason the gap was widened so infinitely was, on one hand, their highly targeted design, and on the other, because the super AI Bai Ze controlling the mechas was at least three major tiers above the hai star supercomputer, and was a super AI specialized in combat.

Mechas are like knives; how much combat power they can unleash depends on the overall skill of the user.

When mecha performance was similar, the gap between the hai star supercomputer and Bai Ze was like bronze versus the strongest King; there was simply no comparison between the two.

With the fifth-generation mechas leading the way, the 'Jiaolong' medium drones steadily advanced once more.

Two hours later, the distance shortened to thirty thousand kilometers.

Three hours later, the distance shortened to twenty thousand kilometers.

When the distance advanced to ten thousand kilometers, the Star Sea's mecha formation had only six remaining.

It was at this stage that the 'Jiaolong' medium drones, without regard for cost, gathered together, forming a dense square formation and began to charge at full speed.

On destroyer, on the bridge.

Cohen stared intently at the star map, and seeing Blue Star launch a general offensive, he immediately ordered, "Adjust formation, main cannons prepare."

The Hai Star fleet adjusted its formation, creating a large gap for destroyer.

"Captain, look at the star map!"

Hmm?

Cohen's eyes widened instantly. On the star map, a large area within destroyer's main cannon range was rapidly clearing, yet the momentum of the charge was accelerating.

"Damn it!"

"Did the Blue Star people anticipate my command?"

Cohen was certain; his order had just been given, the Hai Star fleet hadn't even moved, yet the Blue Star side had already made adjustments a step ahead.

He abruptly stood up from his chair, a fine layer of cold sweat instantly beading on his forehead.

Coincidence?

It couldn't be such a coincidence!

Cohen's heart pounded uncontrollably, and an extremely outrageous guess formed in his mind.

"Can the Blue Star people predict the future?"

The 'Jiaolong' medium drones' reactions were so precise and fast, naturally, because He Ming had instilled the entire battle's simulation results into Bai Ze.

This included every action taken by all units of the Hai Star fleet at every point in time.

As well as the nanny-level action guide provided by the omniscient notebook.
