159: You're really meddling in other people's business!
The 37th floor, lounge area.
A waiter leaned toward Chris and whispered, "Governor Chris, Governor Wang Chao has entered the game again."
Chris immediately crushed the wine glass in his hand and stood up.
"Is he alone?"
The waiter looked hesitant. Chris slightly raised an eyebrow, pulled a silver card from his pocket, and tossed it over.
"Speak."
The waiter took the silver card, his expression brightening.
"Governor Wang Chao followed Governor Wan Xingying to the 27th floor, and they returned to the casino together an hour later."
Chris waved his hand, and the waiter bowed deeply and quickly backed away.
"Wan Xingying... How could Wang Chao be involved with that woman?"
After pondering for a moment, Chris took out his terminal and dialed a number.
Chris leaned back on the sofa, smiling, as he looked at the virtual projection before him.
"Governor Deco, long time no see."
"Chris, hahahaha... I heard you lost a Star Marrow Mine?"
Chris slightly narrowed his eyes, feeling a pang of pain in his heart... "I want to partner with you to set up a scheme."
"You want to win the Star Marrow Mine back from Wang Chao?"
Chris: "Yes, I only want the Star Marrow Mine that I lost. All the excess winnings will be returned to you. How about it?"
"Not interested. Find someone else."
"Wait, I heard Wang Chao went to the 27th floor with Wan Xingying for a whole hour."
In the virtual screen, the buzz-cut youth, who looked barely thirty and was wearing deep blue armor, tensed up and urgently asked, "What did you say?"
Chris slowly said, "You can investigate the details yourself, but it looks like Wang Chao has his eyes on Wan Xingying."
Deco: "How dare he touch my woman..."
"To set up a scheme, two people aren't enough."
Chris: "I'll go find one more person. What about you?"
"I can bring one."
In the corner of the casino hall, the chip total on the panel in front of He Ming had grown from ten trillion principal to twenty trillion, causing everyone at the card table to become spectators; no one was willing to play anymore.
"Wang Chao, when did your luck get so good?"
"Exactly, he managed to draw a Crown twice out of ten hands."
"I really didn't expect Wang Chao to have his turn of luck. I remember ten years ago he seemed to be losing constantly."
He Ming glanced around and chuckled, "After so many years of bad luck, it's finally my turn. Aren't you going to play?"
"Your luck is too good today, who would dare to play?"
Wan Xingying stood right behind He Ming. She had watched every hand and confirmed there was absolutely nothing unusual.
Moreover, cheating was impossible in this venue.
The program responsible for dealing the cards was the Star Empire's Super Intellect, capable of verifying the cards at any time.
As they spoke, four people walked out of the crowd and casually chose seats at the table.
He Ming's gaze swept over them, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. They had formed a team to challenge him.
With a single thought, he immediately understood their intentions.
They wanted to join forces to set up a scheme, take his chips, and win back the Star Marrow Mines they had lost.
Deco sat directly opposite He Ming. He looked at Governor Wan Xingying, and seeing that her attention was fixed on He Ming, a wave of suppressed anger rose in his heart.
Chris: "Wang Chao, you don't mind if we sit down and play a few hands, do you?"
He Ming spread his hands: "Lining up to give me money? Of course I don't mind."
Deco sneered, "Sometimes, being overconfident isn't a good thing."
"Stop the nonsense, let's start the hand."
After the minimum bets were placed, the dealer operated the card dispenser to start shuffling.
"Please select a number."
Chris: "77."
The card dispenser aimed at Chris and dealt the 77th card from the top to him.
Deco: "100."
"37."
"25."
He Ming: "66."
He Ming did not look at his card, instead communicating with the omniscient notebook inside his Inner Universe.
[Provide the value of everyone's cards]
[Chris: 80]
[Deco: Scepter]
[Philly: 13]
[Max: 100]
[He Ming: 99]
He Ming picked up the card in his hand, a 99, the fourth highest card.
Wan Xingying's eyes narrowed behind him; he had drawn another high card.
Shui Meng turned her head to look, delighted in her heart. Drawing such a high card meant this hand was definitely a win.
Philly folded immediately.
"The card is too small, I'm out."
He Ming immediately followed suit, discarding the card in his hand.
"Looks like my luck ran out; my card is also very small."
Wan Xingying's expression remained unchanged, but doubt arose in her heart.
Why would he discard such a high card?
Was he trying to throw away money?
Shui Meng was getting agitated, but she saw that He Ming looked completely calm.
She secretly composed a message and sent it to He Ming.
[Why did you fold? It was so high!]
He Ming raised his terminal, tapped it, and casually composed a text message in reply.
[Cast a long line to catch a big fish. Why rush?]
The three remaining players at the table saw He Ming fold and placed symbolic bets. In the end, Philly won, taking five hundred billion chips.
Second round, after the minimum bets were placed.
"You draw the card."
After the five cards were dealt, Shui Meng reached out and drew her card, cautiously flipping up a corner to peek.
Scepter, the second highest card!
He Ming's mind moved, and he instantly saw the hand values of the four people at the table.
70, 43, 21, 81, 91.
It was He Ming's turn to bet.
"Ten trillion."
"Fold."
"I'm not matching that."
"Playing for so much?"
The four players all chose to fold, and He Ming collected the pot, winning five hundred million chips.
Shui Meng secretly lamented the loss; they had drawn a high card, but the four opponents refused to place heavy bets.
Third round.
Shui Meng drew a 100, while the highest card among the other four was only an 80.
In the end, He Ming collected the pot of one trillion... Fifty-seventh round.
He Ming had already won thirty trillion from Chris and the other three, which was no longer a small sum.
After the dealer finished dealing the cards, Shui Meng took the card into her hand, but He Ming immediately took it from her, covered it back up on the table without even looking.
Deco reached up and scratched his forehead.
Chris understood the signal and started betting heavily.
"Ten trillion."
Philly folded.
Max also folded.
Deco let out a light snort.
"Fifty trillion."
He Ming: "I call."
Chris's eyes lit up. He was certain that He Ming absolutely had not looked at the card.
"I'm not matching that."
He Ming slightly shook his head, thinking, "These guys really know how to keep their cool. They drew a Scepter and still aren't willing to set a trap for me."
Deco revealed his hand.
Scepter.
"Governor Deco hit the jackpot this hand! Fifty trillion, that's a huge bet!"
"Governor Deco has been losing for dozens of rounds, it's about time he won."
Governor Wan Xingying slightly raised her eyebrows. Unless He Ming had drawn a Crown, this loss would not only wipe out all his previous winnings but also leave him owing tens of trillions.
Deco looked at He Ming mockingly and sneered, "Governor Wang Chao, what's wrong? Are you afraid to look at your card?"
He Ming suddenly reached behind him and grabbed Wan Xingying's hand. She was stunned and tried to pull away, but He Ming's grip was strong, and she couldn't break free immediately; instead, he pulled her closer to the card table.
"You!"
Deco's eyes widened, and his chest began to heave violently. He had desperately pursued Wan Xingying for over seven hundred years and had never even touched her hand.
Today, Wang Chao had beaten him to the punch!
He rose in anger and pointed at He Ming: "Let go of her hand!"
"Huh?"
He Ming: "Why should I?"
"Governor Wan Xingying is my fiancée. You certainly are nosy."
