126: Temporary rest, Fulin Inn

Five days later, in the evening.

Jiang Lan, covered in dust, arrived before the gates of a county town.

On the city gate, three large characters were written.

"Anping County"

Jiang Lan had been following the map to travel and naturally knew that Anping County was a county town within Wu Country.

Judging by the city gate, this county town was probably not small.

There was a lot of foot traffic, and even though it was already evening, there was still a queue at the city gate.

Jiang Lan followed behind the crowd.

This was the second place he had found to rest in the past five days.

Although resting in the wilderness was no big deal for him.

But the journey itself was a bit too boring.

Coupled with being away from people for too long, Jiang Lan also felt a bit unaccustomed.

Therefore, he rushed to the county town to rest.

Firstly, it was to get some human interaction, and secondly, he could wash up and tidy himself.

Even when traveling, one shouldn't let himself get too disheveled, right?

Before the city gate, the crowd slowly moved forward, and finally, it was Jiang Lan's turn.

The guard was a Skin Refinement martial artist. Seeing Jiang Lan's dusty appearance, he sized him up a few times.

There was no Qi fluctuation from Jiang Lan, making him look no different from an ordinary person.

Although his Qi was stable and unlike that of a normal person, the guard was just a low-level Skin Refinement martial artist; how could he have such discerning eyes?

He asked:

"Where are you from?"

Jiang Lan did not reveal any domineering aura or intend to subdue the guard; he merely said:

"From Ningwu Prefecture."

Ningwu Prefecture was the capital of Wu Country. To avoid trouble, Jiang Lan did not mention that he came from Great Yan's capital.

Fortunately, everyone in Chihong Province seemed to speak the same language, with no discernible difference in accent. Even if there were some dialects, they were basically similar to the official language and almost imperceptible unless one listened carefully.

"You can walk quite a distance. Be careful, the world isn't peaceful, don't get eaten by demons on the road." The guard had no intention of making things difficult for Jiang Lan. "Fifty coppers for entry."

Jiang Lan casually handed over a piece of broken silver.

The silver was very small, less than one qian, just a little over half a qian, which could be exchanged for about sixty or seventy coppers.

The guard took the broken silver, weighed it, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face.

"Sensible. Go on in."

Jiang Lan said nothing, just nodded, and walked into the city.

When out and about, it's best not to invite unnecessary trouble.

It wasn't that he was afraid, it was mainly that it was troublesome.

There was no benefit to be gained, so what was the point of doing useless things?

Walking into the city, Jiang Lan looked around.

Perhaps because it was not far from Great Yan, the architectural style on both sides of the street was basically identical to Great Yan, with nothing new.

However, there were quite a lot of people in the city, with vendors and porters coming and going in an endless stream.

Feeling the human presence he hadn't experienced in days, Jiang Lan smiled and walked down the street.

He planned to find an Inn first, then eat something good to satisfy his appetite.

After walking for a while along the road, a banner appeared before Jiang Lan, with four characters written on it.

'Fulin Inn'

Jiang Lan glanced at the Inn's size; it was neither large nor small.

Too lazy to search any further, Jiang Lan walked directly into the Inn.

Seeing a guest enter, a waiter with a white cloth draped over his shoulder came forward, greeting him with a smile:

"Esteemed Guest, are you stopping for a meal or staying overnight?"

"Staying overnight." Jiang Lan surveyed the interior of the Inn.

From the outside, the Inn had three floors.

The first floor had many tables and chairs, just like an ordinary restaurant. The accommodation was likely on the second and third floors.

Jiang Lan casually found a table and sat down, then took out a piece of broken silver weighing five or six qian, placed it on the table, and said, "Bring some good dishes."

"Alright!" The waiter beamed, pulled off the white cloth from his shoulder, wiped the table in front of Jiang Lan, then put away the silver. "Esteemed Guest, please wait a moment. Should I also go and warm a pot of wine for you?"

"No wine, bring a pot of tea."

Jiang Lan waved his hand slightly.

He didn't have an alcohol addiction; he only thought of drinking when he was troubled.

However, at his current Realm, alcohol had long lost its effect on Jiang Lan.

No matter how much he drank, it would be instantly digested upon entering his stomach, making it impossible to get drunk.

"Alright!" The waiter agreed repeatedly and then ran to the back kitchen.

Just then, at the entrance of the Inn, a series of footsteps sounded.

Hearing the footsteps, Jiang Lan subconsciously turned his head to look.

There were two people, their appearances six or seven points similar, looking like brothers.

If they were ordinary people, they wouldn't have caught Jiang Lan's attention.

But as soon as he heard the footsteps, Jiang Lan recognized that both brothers were martial artists.

And they were not weak.

According to Jiang Lan's estimation, these two brothers should already be at the eighth or ninth level of Bone Refinement.

The two were also leading two horses.

At this moment, the waiter had already come out from the back kitchen. Seeing more guests, he hurriedly went forward and respectfully asked:

"Esteemed Guests, are you stopping for a meal or staying overnight?"

Among the two, the slightly older one said:

"Staying overnight. First, tie up the horses, then arrange some good wine and dishes for us brothers."

"Alright! Please sit down, gentlemen."

The waiter called out and then went out to lead the horses.

Jiang Lan also turned his head back.

Nothing special, just two martial artists.

However, in this county town, a Bone Refinement martial artist should not be considered weak.

After waiting a while longer, another waiter ran out from the back kitchen, carrying a tray, and placed various dishes on the table in front of Jiang Lan.

Most of them were braised and roasted meats, with few vegetable dishes.

Jiang Lan hadn't eaten well for days, so he naturally accepted everything.

Although the taste of the food here was not as satisfactory compared to Earth, where he used to be, it couldn't be called bad.

How bad could roasted and braised meats possibly taste?

Moreover, the spices from the two worlds were very different, so the taste was somewhat unique.

A moment later, Jiang Lan had eaten and drunk his fill.

He beckoned, and the waiter immediately scurried over.

"Esteemed Guest, have you finished eating?"

"Mm." Jiang Lan said indifferently, "Find a room."

"Esteemed Guest, we have Heaven, Earth, and Human rooms here. What kind of room would you like?"

"Heaven."

Jiang Lan's answer was concise.

When traveling, and if he had the means, why would he inconvenience himself?

"I'll stay for one night first. The extra money will be refunded, and any shortfall will be made up."

"Alright!"

The waiter finished speaking and led Jiang Lan upstairs.

At the table next to Jiang Lan, the two brothers who were eating looked up for a moment, then withdrew their gaze and continued to eat their food.

On the third floor of the Inn, the waiter opened the door.

"Esteemed Guest, please."

Jiang Lan nodded and walked into the room.

The waiter said from outside, "Would you like me to bring in some hot water for you?"

"Yes."

Jiang Lan agreed and looked at the room's decor.

After all, it was an Inn. Although it was a Heaven-grade room, it wasn't luxurious; at most, it could be described as antique, simple, and elegant.

A wooden bed, table, and chairs were all present.

Jiang Lan glanced around, then sat on the wooden chair, and a virtual light screen appeared before him.
