165: Halal restaurants in the city

The two snake demons combined had about the same amount of money as the bear demon, perhaps even slightly less.

Adding it all up, Jiang Lan now had a total of fifty-seven herbal pellets and nine blood pellets.

After searching the bodies, Jiang Lan put everything he obtained into a hidden compartment in his satchel.

Immediately after, he turned his gaze eastward.

The bear demon had said earlier that two hundred li to the east was the territory of the Ten Thousand Demons Hall.

However, that was said in the place where they had met.

After going to the market, he had walked another sixty li or so to the south.

Adding the distance he had covered since leaving, if he were to walk another three hundred li or so to the east, he would reach his destination.

As he pondered, Jiang Lan was already in motion.

He still didn't choose to fly, but even by running, at his current speed, he would arrive in less than half an hour.

Before Jiang Lan, the scenery rapidly receded, and the sound of rushing wind filled his ears.

“Boom boom boom!”

Just like that, Jiang Lan rushed for nearly half an hour before finally seeing a city wall on the horizon ahead.

It was very far away, but Jiang Lan could still roughly estimate that the wall was at least two to three zhang high.

It was much stronger than the previous market town.

In fact, it was even taller than the city walls of most human cities.

Jiang Lan raised his eyebrows, accelerated again, and quickly approached the city wall.

When he was not far from the city wall, he also saw the details clearly.

The city wall was built entirely of black bricks and stones, and on the uppermost watchtower, there was a pattern of a large fish.

It was similar to the whales of Jiang Lan's previous life.

Moreover, the pattern was not abstract; instead, it had a lifelike quality.

The city gate was wide open, and there were no guards; Jiang Lan could even see many demons entering and exiting.

Jiang Lan narrowed his eyes.

This place... this city, compared to the market town just now, was stronger by more than just a little bit.

It was a complete dimensional crush.

Jiang Lan could even see the huge buildings inside through the city gate.

Although the style was a bit rough, at least demons could live there.

As he approached the city gate, the number of demons passing by Jiang Lan increased.

While he was on his way earlier, Jiang Lan had actually encountered some demons, but he chose not to attack and kill them, pretending not to see them.

He was still in a hurry to get to the Ten Thousand Demons Hall.

Moreover, this place was not his home turf, so it was not wrong to be appropriately cautious.

There would be plenty of opportunities to gain longevity in the future.

Jiang Lan observed the passing demons.

Soon, he discovered a problem.

That is, the demons in this place were very different from those in the previous market town.

In the previous market town, the air stank, and the demons inside probably hadn't bathed in a long time; some of their fur was already matted.

But in this place, the demons were all well-dressed, mostly wearing clothes, and although their bodies still had some miscellaneous smells, they were much better than those in the market town.

At the very least, ordinary people coming in would not be suffocated.

Moreover, most of these demons were in a half-beast, half-human form.

Mostly, their heads were different, while their torsos were almost identical to humans.

Jiang Lan even saw a few whose appearances were also close to human.

Didn't they say that demons disdained transforming into humans?

Rumors kill people.

Previously, Jiang Lan's understanding of demons was basically from the books of Great Yan.

But obviously, the person who wrote the books had never been to a demon's territory.

The forms of these demons clearly leaned towards human appearance.

Furthermore, these demons were generally already in a Realm.

And there were very few in the Skin Refinement Realm; most of the ones Jiang Lan saw were in the Bone Forging Realm.

Only some small demons that looked young and still retained their complete beast forms had not yet entered a Realm.

After observing the passing demons for a while, Jiang Lan also followed them into the city.

According to his understanding, this place should be the territory of the Ten Thousand Demons Hall.

He just didn't know where to go if he wanted to join the Ten Thousand Demons Hall.

This city didn't look small.

Does he have to inquire about information?

Jiang Lan felt a bit helpless.

Good gracious, he hadn't done anything during this time, just stood here gathering information.

But there's no rush; he's already here anyway, so he'll just walk around and see.

Jiang Lan surveyed the surrounding buildings.

These buildings were noticeably larger than those in the human world, and they were generally unpainted.

They were just houses made of stones, covered with unknown thatch, barely able to shelter from wind and rain.

Besides these ordinary stone buildings, there were also more exquisite small buildings.

Although they were also built of stone, they were clearly much more Advanced, and there was even no difference from buildings in the human world.

Jiang Lan found all of this quite novel.

Walking to a relatively Advanced two-story building, Jiang Lan looked inside.

A restaurant?

He saw many tables and chairs inside, and nearly half of the demons, in various forms, were seated, with plenty of meat on their tables.

As for what kind of meat... what demons loved to eat most, of course, was humans.

Thinking of this, Jiang Lan felt a bit nauseated.

However, he still chose to enter the restaurant.

After all, he was new to this place, and if he wanted to inquire about information, he couldn't just stop people on the street and ask.

As soon as he entered the restaurant, a pig demon covered in black fur came up to greet him and led Jiang Lan to a seat in the main hall.

After Jiang Lan sat down, he asked:

“Esteemed Guest, what would you like to eat?”

Jiang Lan paused.

“What do you have?”

“Human meat buns, roasted human legs, those are all our signature dishes,” the pig demon enthusiastically rattled off the menu.

Jiang Lan scrutinized the pig demon for a moment, then shook his head.

“I don't like to eat humans.”

The pig demon's expression seemed unsurprised, and he still asked enthusiastically.

“Then what would you like to eat?”

“Do you have pork?”

The pig demon's expression changed slightly, but he still managed to maintain a smile and said:

“Our humble establishment doesn't sell pork, but we do have some beef and lamb, I wonder if you would eat that.”

“Hmm?” Jiang Lan raised his eyebrows, “Is this a Halal restaurant?”

The pig demon was startled.

“What do you mean?”

“Nothing,” Jiang Lan waved his hand, “Just bring whatever you think is good, just don't make it human; that's disgusting to eat.”

In fact, he wouldn't eat anything.

Jiang Lan's purpose in entering this restaurant was simply to gather information.

Inside the restaurant, a group of demons chatted animatedly.

However, most of it was news completely useless to Jiang Lan.

After listening for a long time, Jiang Lan vaguely caught two useful sentences.

“Brother Ma, isn't your son going to join the Ten Thousand Demons Hall? Did he pass the assessment?”

Jiang Lan turned his gaze towards the speaker.

He saw a horse-faced demon smiling bitterly and shaking his head.

“Joining the Ten Thousand Demons Hall, how could it be so easy? He didn't even pass the first assessment; he can only wait until next year to try again.

“Alas... if only I could get a ten thousand demons token, then I could just go to the foot of the mountain to sign up and become an Outer Sect Disciple of the Ten Thousand Demons Hall.”

“Brother Ma, you're thinking too much; how could a ten thousand demons token be so easy to get?”
