158: Wolf teeth, ready-made clothes, dried meat

Jiang Lan stopped in front of a stall, looking at the items before him.

The stall was quite rudimentary, with an animal hide of unknown origin spread on the ground, and on it were things like beast teeth, scales, sinews, and bones.

Jiang Lan could feel a faint energy fluctuation emanating from most of these items.

This was enough to prove that these Materials were all obtained from demons.

Jiang Lan glanced at the stall owner.

The stall owner was a middle-aged man, appearing to be in his thirties or forties, with a cultivation Realm that was neither high nor low, seemingly at the Gathering Yuan Middle Stage.

The stall owner also saw Jiang Lan and looked up to ask:

"Little brother, what are you looking to buy?"

Jiang Lan smiled and said:

"I'm just looking."

With that, he squatted down and began sifting through the items on the stall.

"Are all these things from demons?"

"Naturally," the stall owner said, "If they were ordinary things, they wouldn't be brought to this market to sell."

Jiang Lan asked, as if casually:

"Brother, I see your items seem quite fresh. Wasn't the last demon attack three months ago?"

The stall owner grinned.

"Little brother, you're an outsider, aren't you?"

Jiang Lan's movements paused.

He had been trying to get some information.

He had, of course, heard about the time of the last demon invasion from the City Lord.

As for the reason he stopped at this stall, it was because Jiang Lan noticed that all the items on the stall were very fresh.

It looked like they were, at most, one or two days old.

Moreover, such a large quantity of Materials clearly did not come from a single demon.

As for discerning freshness, this was not difficult for Jiang Lan.

He had killed many demons and obtained many Materials from them; although his judgment might not be perfectly accurate, it wouldn't be far off.

These Materials, obtained from demons, even if not within one or two days, would not be older than three days at most.

And while Lingtian Pass was often harassed by demons, the area within the pass was, conversely, where demons were least common.

Therefore, Jiang Lan was curious about the origin of the Materials on the stall.

However, judging by the stall owner's demeanor, he didn't seem very resistant to his question.

Jiang Lan pondered for a moment and continued to ask:

"Yes, is it that obvious?"

"Very obvious. Anyone who has stayed in Lingtian City for a month or two knows about Demon Hunters."

"Demon Hunters?"

"Ah, it's nothing much, just going outside the pass to try one's luck," the stall owner said. "If you're lucky, you might encounter some stray demons, after all, the Materials from demons are the most valuable in this city."

Jiang Lan nodded.

With the stall owner's explanation, he understood.

Different places naturally give rise to vastly different professions.

It seemed that Demon Hunters were a relatively unique profession within Lingtian City.

While such individuals existed elsewhere, there weren't those specifically dedicated to hunting and selling demons.

At most, it was to exchange for contributions at Zhenwu Pavilion.

Jiang Lan continued to look at the items on the stall, and after a moment, his gaze settled on a wolf fang the length of a palm.

"How much for this?"

The owner of this wolf fang should have been a Qi Gathering Mid-Stage cultivator in life.

Not strong, but Jiang Lan had a use for this item.

He had the Hidden God Art protecting him; even if he transformed into a demon, as long as the Hidden God Art was active, others wouldn't be able to detect his Realm.

This wasn't a problem normally.

However, if he were to go to a demon's territory, he would need to be careful.

At the very least, he would need to disguise himself appropriately.

Jiang Lan didn't believe that a Core Formation Realm cultivator could simply walk freely in demon territory.

If something unexpected happened and he was identified by other powerful demons, it would be troublesome.

Moreover, since he planned to join the Ten Thousand Demons Hall, he certainly couldn't go with a Core Formation Late Stage Realm.

This Qi Gathering Mid-Stage, in his opinion, was just right.

After buying this wolf fang, as long as he wore it close to his body, with his own strength hidden, other people or demons would naturally assume he only had Qi Gathering strength.

The stall owner thought for a moment and replied:

"I won't cheat you. How about this, you give me twelve taels of silver."

This price was not cheap, but it wasn't expensive either.

After all, no matter what, it was taken from a demon.

Its hardness and sharpness were incomparably superior to ordinary wolf fangs.

But even though he could accept it, Jiang Lan still haggled:

"How about ten taels?"

If it were normally, he certainly wouldn't haggle over a few taels of silver.

But now, almost all the silver he had brought was emptied by Cold Crow Pavilion.

Now, after expenses, he only had about eighteen taels left.

With that, he still needed to buy a ready-made garment.

The stall owner hesitated only slightly before nodding.

Ask for the sky, settle for the ground.

His psychological price was also ten taels.

Jiang Lan's immediate offer now perfectly matched his expectation.

Money exchanged for goods.

Jiang Lan picked up the wolf fang.

With this item, his infiltration into the Ten Thousand Demons Hall would have an extra layer of security.

Bidding farewell to the stall owner, Jiang Lan wandered the streets for a while, then walked into a ready-made clothing store.

As soon as he entered, the shopkeeper enthusiastically greeted him:

"Esteemed Guest, looking for ready-made clothes?"

Jiang Lan glanced at the shopkeeper and nodded.

"Are you buying for yourself or for someone else?"

Jiang Lan gestured.

"For someone else. About seven feet tall, and their build... about one and a half times my width."

"Hoo..."

The shopkeeper's face showed surprise.

Such a build, even for an average demon, was not much different.

The shopkeeper pondered for a moment and said, "Our small shop doesn't have anything ready-made right now. If you can wait, we can make it for you, and it will be ready for pickup tomorrow."

"Alright."

Jiang Lan naturally had no objection.

The build he had just described was his own size after transforming into a wolf demon.

And this clothing store served the majority of people.

It would be strange if they had something perfectly suitable.

"How much?"

"No rush for that. You need to choose the fabric first. Once you've chosen, I'll give you the price."

With that, the shopkeeper led Jiang Lan to the fabric selection area.

"These are all top-quality fabrics. Take a look and see if there's anything you like."

Jiang Lan went to inspect them, then chose a completely dark Xuan-black fabric that had a slight sheen.

"This one will do."

The shopkeeper nodded, turned back to the counter, took out an abacus, and after a series of clattering calculations, said:

"According to your requirements, one ready-made garment is three taels and four mace of silver. If you include pants, it will be five taels."

Jiang Lan nodded, said nothing more, and directly reached into his bosom, taking out a brand new silver ingot, exactly five taels in weight.

After agreeing with the shopkeeper to pick it up tomorrow, Jiang Lan walked out of the clothing store.

By then, he had a total of just over three taels of Small change (broken silver) remaining.

Looking at the still bustling street, Jiang Lan suddenly smiled.

It was quite a coincidence; buying some dry rations and dried meat would probably use up exactly these three taels of silver.

Jiang Lan walked down the street.

Once everything that needed to be prepared was ready, it would be time for him to leave the pass.
