146: You tell me this is the cave of our ancestors?

What met their eyes was an open area.

The ventilation in this place was good, and there was no particular smell, but it looked as if no one had lived or managed it for a long time, so there was some dust.

Aside from some scattered cobwebs in various corners, the spacious hall was empty; there was nothing but brick and stone walls, making it look like a warehouse.

Jiang Lan blinked, a little hesitant.

This place was surrounded by walls, with not even a second door.

If it were an ordinary person, they would probably have just retreated from such a place.

But Jiang Lan had specifically asked the Spider Demon just now.

According to the Spider Demon, this place contained something hidden.

So there must be a path further ahead.

“Brother Liu, do you know where the secret door is?”

“I know, but I can’t remember the exact location. Let me look.”

“Last time I came, I had just opened the secret passage when that Spider Demon returned.”

“If my strength wasn’t comparable to that beast, I would have died here long ago.”

Liu Wei said this while walking towards the wall.

He took a few steps forward, reached the edge of the wall, and began to gently tap the stone wall in front of him.

“Thump, thump—”

A muffled sound echoed.

Liu Wei walked a few more steps to the side and continued to repeat his previous action.

After tapping for a while, when he reached out again, the sound of the wall was different this time; it was no longer so muffled, but rather hollow, and after tapping, echoes reverberated.

Liu Wei’s eyes lit up.

“This is it!”

After a moment of fumbling, he pressed his hand against one of the bricks and pushed hard.

“Click, click, click—”

The stone wall quickly moved to both sides, revealing a long, winding passage inside.

The passage was dark and deep, and the moment it opened, a cold gust of wind blew out, as if to freeze one’s bones to the marrow.

However, this slight chill had no effect on either Jiang Lan or Liu Wei.

Liu Wei’s face was full of joy.

This was too smooth.

Although he wasn’t sure what was inside, he believed it wouldn’t be bad.

Filled with anticipation, he turned to Jiang Lan and said:

“Let’s go, we’ll go in.”

Jiang Lan narrowed his eyes.

Although he had never explored such a place before, he had watched many tomb-raiding movies in his previous life.

This place was strange in every way.

It would be troublesome if there were any mechanisms or similar things.

“Wait a moment.”

Thinking of this, Jiang Lan said to Liu Wei, and then his True Qi spread out, instantly filling every corner of the hall.

His True Qi entered along the passage, and Jiang Lan closed his eyes, carefully sensing the feedback.

This ability had automatically appeared in his memory after his Core Formation.

His True Qi could be released for reconnaissance.

However, the distance it could be released wasn’t too far, only barely covering a hundred meters around him.

It certainly wouldn’t be enough for an endless desert.

But if used in a place like this, it would be more than sufficient.

As his True Qi was released, a topographical map automatically formed in Jiang Lan’s mind.

A 3D one.

Not only the terrain, but he could even perceive all the details.

Liu Wei was a little surprised, but seeing Jiang Lan’s demeanor, he didn’t ask anything and just stood by, waiting silently.

If Jiang Lan did this, there must be a reason for it.

After all, from the perspective of strength, Jiang Lan was much stronger than him.

If he had truly faced that Spider Demon just now, even if he could win, he would probably have to go through a desperate battle. How could he be as relaxed and carefree as Jiang Lan, killing that Spider Demon as easily as slaughtering a chicken?

After sensing for a moment, Jiang Lan was basically able to confirm that there was no danger in this passage.

It was just constructed from ordinary bricks and stones.

However, his True Qi had not been able to explore the entire length of the passage, so he did not withdraw his True Qi but kept it in a state of exploration, nodding to Liu Wei.

“Let’s go.”

Liu Wei had long been impatient, and now, hearing Jiang Lan’s words, he quickly agreed:

“Alright!”

After speaking, he took the lead and directly entered the passage.

Jiang Lan followed closely behind.

Although the passage was completely dark, it was quite spacious.

The distance between the two sides was about one zhang.

Not to mention the two of them, even if two of the previous Spider Demon walked side by side, it wouldn’t be crowded at all.

There was no light on the stone walls on both sides, and the outside light couldn’t enter, so this place was truly pitch black, where you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

After the two walked for a distance, a strange smell suddenly wafted into Jiang Lan’s nostrils.

This smell was somewhat peculiar; he couldn’t describe exactly what it was.

If he had to say, it should be an old, decaying smell.

Liu Wei also slightly slowed his pace at this time, sniffing.

“Brother Jiang, did you smell anything?”

“Hmm.” Jiang Lan grunted in response, then said, “Be careful.”

“I know what I’m doing.”

Liu Wei walked in front, his steps slowing again, while Jiang Lan followed closely behind.

His True Qi cleared the way, but he didn’t find anything unusual.

After walking a bit further, turning several corners, they finally exited the passage, and the area before them suddenly opened up.

The place where Jiang Lan and Liu Wei were now was almost identical in structure to the hall they had first entered, the only difference being the three stone doors now in front of them.

And there was something in this hall.

After seeing the situation inside the hall, Jiang Lan was slightly stunned.

On one side of the hall, there was a huge chair made of stone, over a zhang high. Jiang Lan estimated he would have to stand to reach the armrests on both sides of the stone chair.

It was covered with fur of unknown origin, and due to long neglect, a thick layer of dust had accumulated on it, making its original color unrecognizable.

Most importantly, on this huge chair, there was also a scattered skeleton.

Jiang Lan’s pupils slightly contracted.

Both the size of the chair and the skeleton on it conveyed one piece of information to Jiang Lan.

This place was definitely not left behind by some ancestors.

But rather, it should belong to a demon.

Firstly, humans wouldn’t need such a large chair, and secondly, the scattered bones on this seat were incredibly thick; a mere skeleton looked to be over two zhang, nearly three zhang high.

What kind of person could grow this tall?

Jiang Lan’s gaze swept across, locking onto the skull among the pile of bones.

The skull was also enormous; a single hollow eye socket was half the size of Jiang Lan’s head.

Although Jiang Lan wasn’t a researcher of such things, he could tell at a glance that it was vastly different from a human skull.

He guessed it should be a feline.

Presumably, it was a tiger demon or something similar?

Jiang Lan turned his head, a hint of strangeness in his expression, and asked Liu Wei:

“Brother Liu, are you sure this place is some kind of Immortal Cave left by ancestors?”

Liu Wei had naturally seen it too, and responded with some uncertainty:

“It… should be, right?”
