192: The leader's abnormality

Mang Tianba was somewhat surprised.

He hadn't expected this new Wolf Brother to be an anomaly.

Most demons liked to eat humans.

It wasn't that the taste was particularly good, but rather that demons believed humans were the paragons of all creation, and consuming them was beneficial for the Physical Body and Cultivation, which is why they generally preferred human flesh.

However, the truth of this was debatable.

Some Demon Domains were even too far from the human world to acquire humans to eat, leading to specialized places for raising humans.

Mang Tianba pondered inwardly.

He wondered if Lang Qing truly disliked eating humans, or if he was just saying so to curry favor with the Alliance Leader.

He felt it was most likely the latter.

After all, what demon didn't love to eat humans?

The Alliance Leader being an exception was already quite remarkable.

Jiang Lan didn't know what Mang Tianba was thinking; he was looking at the dishes on the table instead.

A hint of surprise appeared in his eyes.

These dishes… they were surprisingly no different from human cuisine, served on ceramic plates, and were perfect in color, aroma, and taste.

Jiang Lan even saw many popular dishes from the human world among the spread on the table.

Jiang Lan narrowed his eyes.

This place was so far from the human world; how did these dishes make their way here?

Moreover, this banquet was clearly tailored to the tastes of that middle-aged Hall Master.

Could it be that this Hall Master had spent time in the human world before?

"What's wrong? Is the food not to your liking?"

From the throne, the middle-aged man noticed Jiang Lan's expression seemed a bit off and asked.

"No, no."

Jiang Lan shook his head, suppressing the doubts in his heart. "I was just thinking about something."

The middle-aged man on the throne waved his hand grandly.

"Haha, since you've come to the Luan Yao Alliance, we're all family now. No matter what trouble you caused outside, the Luan Yao Alliance has your back, so don't worry about it. Let the banquet begin!"

Jiang Lan's gaze flickered, but he said nothing.

On the table, spoons, chopsticks, bowls, and plates were all in place, and everyone around him looked human.

For a moment, Jiang Lan even thought he was in the imperial palace of some human country.

The demons present all picked up their chopsticks and began the banquet in a surprisingly proper manner.

Jiang Lan looked at the various dishes in front of him, hesitated for a moment, then picked up a piece of green vegetable and put it in his mouth.

"Mm…"

Jiang Lan's eyes opened slightly.

This familiar taste, he hadn't experienced it since he came to this Demon Domain.

The demon food he had seen before was either some kind of mush made of unknown ingredients, or blackened meat, or just the basic grass pills and blood pills.

But the dishes in front of him even made Jiang Lan wonder if the cook in this place was human.

After all, even the seasoning was pretty much the same as what he used to eat in restaurants.

Jiang Lan's eyes flickered, and he glanced at the Alliance Leader from the corner of his eye.

He saw the Alliance Leader unhurriedly pick a tender piece of stewed beef from the soup bowl, slowly put it into his mouth, chew and swallow, then use a spoon to scoop up some broth, slurp it down, and a look of contentment appeared on his face.

Jiang Lan withdrew his gaze and looked at the other demons at the table.

If the Alliance Leader's behavior was like that of a normal human, then the rest of these demons were like savages.

Their awkward way of holding chopsticks was one thing, but some were so impatient they couldn't get the food into their mouths and eventually resorted to using their hands.

In any case, Jiang Lan felt it was entirely appropriate to call this scene a chaotic dance of demons.

Most of these demons clearly didn't use chopsticks regularly; they probably just ate with their hands normally.

With such a comparison, Jiang Lan felt even more that this Alliance Leader seemed to have a story.

Even… a guess vaguely formed in Jiang Lan's mind.

At the same time, he adjusted his posture to make his use of chopsticks appear even more awkward.

Although his current body was that of a wolf demon, his limbs were no different from a human's, except his nails were much sharper and thicker.

Using chopsticks was already a bit clumsy for him, and with Jiang Lan's intentional disguise, he was pretty much indistinguishable from the other demons.

However, Jiang Lan's actions did not escape the Alliance Leader's eyes above.

He looked at Jiang Lan, and a deep thought seemed to cross his profound eyes.

But then, he continued eating as if nothing had happened.

Jiang Lan had been focused on the other demons at the banquet and hadn't noticed the activity at the main seat.

The banquet lasted for about two hours.

Initially, the order was barely acceptable, but after most of the wine was consumed, the true natures of these demons were exposed. The scene was utterly chaotic, with all sorts of things happening, incredibly lively.

It was only out of deference to the Alliance Leader's presence; otherwise, Jiang Lan estimated they would have torn the roof off.

Those sitting there were at least at the Demon Core Realm.

Making the bit of alcohol in their bodies disappear was effortless for this group of demons.

Yet, despite this, ninety-nine percent of the demons at the banquet were still completely drunk.

The Alliance Leader, seated at the head, seemed long accustomed to this scene and said nothing.

Only when it was almost time to disperse did the Alliance Leader clear his throat softly.

"Cough…"

His soft cough, though not loud, sounded like thunder in the ears of the demons.

The previously boisterous scene instantly fell silent.

The group of demons, almost in unison, dispelled the alcohol Qi from their bodies.

In an instant, the entire second floor was completely different from a minute ago.

Jiang Lan witnessed all of this and even wondered if he had walked onto the wrong set.

However, he thought, this must be the rule for these demons, right?

They could do whatever they wanted when they were happy, but once the fun was over, they returned to how they should be.

Although he didn't know if his guess was accurate, Jiang Lan estimated that it was probably something like that.

"Everyone, disperse. Go do what you need to do."

The Alliance Leader waved his hand.

Below, they responded in unison:

"Yes!"

After responding, the group of demons left one after another.

In just a few dozen breaths, only Jiang Lan, Mang Tianba, Fu Tianyuan, and the Alliance Leader remained at the main seat.

The Alliance Leader glanced at Jiang Lan, then waved his hand again, saying to Mang Tianba:

"Take Wolf Brother to get familiar with the Law Enforcement Hall."

"Yes!" Mang Tianba, dressed in purple robes, respectfully agreed and prepared to leave with Jiang Lan.

"Wait."

Just as they were about to leave, the Alliance Leader spoke again.

Jiang Lan looked up.

"Alliance Leader, what are your orders?"

The Alliance Leader narrowed his eyes.

"Come over later."

Jiang Lan's eyes flickered for a moment, then he nodded and said:

"Yes."

Although he didn't know why he was being called, it was better to face it than to worry.

Since he had already entered the fray, there was no need to overthink things.

Now, he was the Hall Master of the Luan Yao Alliance's Law Enforcement Hall, so naturally, he would do whatever the Alliance Leader asked him to do.

"Alright, go."

"Your subordinate takes his leave."
