17: Chapter 17 Not Answering the Phone

A child prodigy turning into a simp has some talent—is this actually praising Gu Yanchen?

On the way home, Gu Yanchen didn't hug or kiss Su Yue, just kept a sour face, clearly still brooding over the "three-and-a-half-yuan campus card" and the "eighteen-year-old fresh meat".

Su Yue found it amusing and didn't pay him any mind.

If a man throws a tantrum, the more you coddle him, the prouder he gets; if you ignore him, he'll be fine on his own in a few days.

If he still isn't better, then she would reluctantly coax him.

On Saturday, the luxury RV Su Yue ordered arrived.

She stayed holed up at home all day reading the luxury RV's manual; her initial supplies were adequate, and driving away was her top choice for escape.

She wanted to live comfortably in the Apocalypse, and after much thought, buying an RV was the safest bet.

The RV had a super large bed that could fit two adults; she had specifically chosen it for that.

There was also a bed above that faced the skylight, which could be used for storage if not needed.

It had everything, including a kitchen and a bathroom, plus two safes—perfect for storing food and weapons later on. You have to understand, in the end times, when there's no food, people will do anything!

The fuel consumption was decent.

With Gu Yanchen around, collecting gasoline wouldn't be an issue.

The RV also had added solar panels and batteries, so even if there was no fuel, it could still function normally, easily lasting another three to five days.

Su Yue had also anonymously sent a letter to the police station, but after so long with no response, it had likely vanished without a trace.

It made sense, too. People were living their lives just fine; if you suddenly popped up saying the zombie virus was going to break out in a few days and the world would turn into a place that eats people, it would be a miracle if they didn't treat you like a lunatic.

This result was well within her expectations, so she didn't feel any disappointment.

She had merely been reborn, knowing some things in advance, and did her best to give them a warning; whether they believed it or not was up to them.

She didn't have the grand ability to save the world.

After finishing the RV manual, Su Yue downloaded some movies and TV shows for fear of boredom during the Apocalypse. Suddenly remembering that Gu Yanchen hadn't contacted her today, she gritted her teeth.

She took out her phone to call him, only to find it kept ringing without anyone picking up.

Gu Yanchen, you're really something!

How dare you not answer the phone? You've gotten tough, huh? We've only been dating for a few days and you're already acting like this!

Su Yue was so angry she deleted him from her contacts; any signs of this behavior had to be nipped in the bud!

She waited all afternoon without a single WeChat notification. It wasn't that she suspected him of cheating, she just couldn't figure out what he was doing. Why had he ignored her all day?

Waking up in the middle of the night, her WeChat was blowing up with friend requests from Gu Yanchen. Su Yue grinned: "Heh, like I can't handle you!"

She was in a great mood and added him back. Before she could even demand an explanation, a voice call came through: "Baby, want to come out and eat something delicious?"

Getting up for a midnight snack? He must have had his brain squeezed by a door!

"What were you doing all day today? Not answering the phone? We've only been dating for a few days and you're already acting like this; what's it going to be like later?" Su Yue vented her anger into the phone.

On the phone, Gu Yanchen asked cautiously: "Coming out? Baby."

"I'm not coming out!"

Su Yue yelled furiously; if she didn't teach him a lesson today, he wouldn't know what's what.

"Alright."

Gu Yanchen was silent for a moment, then hung up the phone.

Su Yue jumped up in anger again, cursing: "Idiot Gu Yanchen, don't you know girls need to be coaxed? You're such a jerk! The biggest idiot in the whole world!"

Just as she finished cursing, she suddenly heard movement on the balcony and shouted in fright: "Who's out there?"

Su Yue didn't turn on the lights. By the faint glow of her phone, she saw a tall, dark figure moving on the balcony—it was creepy!

It reminded her of the zombies in the Apocalypse.

Su Yue hurriedly scrambled in the dark, ran to the bed, and dove under the covers, wrapping herself up tightly, even covering her head.

Wasn't the end of the world still a few days away? How could it be early?

If she had known, she wouldn't have lost her temper with Gu Yanchen. Su Yue felt so much regret!

"Ah! Don't eat me, I don't taste good!" She felt the quilt being pulled down and screamed in terror.

"It's me, Baby." Gu Yanchen knew he had scared her and quickly spoke up.

Su Yue threw off the quilt and hugged his broad frame, crystal-clear tears hanging from the corners of her eyes, looking as pitiful as could be.

"Don't you know I'm a coward? How dare you scare me like that, you're so mean!" She started crying as she spoke.

Watching her, Gu Yanchen's heart broke: "Baby, it's my fault, don't cry."

"You can hit me or scold me all you want, as long as it makes you feel better, Baby!"

Su Yue bit down on his chest, but caught a whiff of blood. She violently ripped open his clothes and discovered fresh wounds of various sizes on his body, clearly inflicted not long ago.

"What happened?"

Gu Yanchen carried her to the bed while he sat on the floor, afraid of dirtying her bed.

"I told them not to hurt my face, but you still found out."

He took a stack of money out of his pocket, probably several thousand yuan.

Su Yue's eyelid twitched: "Did you go rob someone?"
