47: Chapter 47 Finding Lin Xi

"I waited and waited, but Lin Xi didn't return. I searched the entire neighborhood, but I couldn't find a trace of Lin Xi," Liu Xiu said anxiously, his face filled with worry and unease.

"I only called you because I really had no other choice." Liu Xiu clutched his head in pain, blaming himself entirely for Lin Xi's disappearance, feeling that his negligence had led to her vanishing.

Watching Liu Xiu blame himself so much, Su Yue felt terrible and comforted him, "Liu Xiu, this isn't your fault. Don't take all the blame on yourself."

Liu Xiu still couldn't let it go; he kept blaming himself for leaving Lin Xi behind to go home.

Seeing this, Su Yue suddenly remembered something, "That's right! I remember Lin Xi once told me that her biggest wish was to go to the beach to watch the sunrise. Could she have gone to the beach?"

Now, they could only take a gamble.

Upon hearing this, hope instantly ignited in Liu Xiu, and he quickly stood up, "That's right! Why didn't I think of that? Let's hurry to the beach and look for her."

As soon as Liu Xiu stepped out the door, he ran straight into several zombies. Their hideous faces terrified him so much that he crouched down, clutching his head, and didn't dare to move.

Gu Yanchen quickly covered Su Yue's eyes, drew his handgun, and fired a shot directly at their heads; the zombies instantly collapsed to the ground.

Su Yue tried to pull his large hand away, but she couldn't pry it loose no matter what.

She was no longer a delicate young lady; after experiencing all the torture from her previous life, what was killing zombies? What was there to be afraid of seeing?

"Don't be afraid, it's alright now," Gu Yanchen said softly to Su Yue. He still remembered how Su Yue had been frightened by the disgusting scene of the zombies killed by the Mercenaries yesterday.

Hearing Gu Yanchen's voice, Liu Xiu finally breathed a sigh of relief and slowly stood up.

"Thank you, Boss. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't know what to do." Liu Xiu had always regarded Gu Yanchen as his backbone; having him by his side made him feel very secure.

"Let's hurry and find Lin Xi," Su Yue said anxiously.

At this moment, Lian Boyu drove the car up in front of them and said smugly, "Aren't I clever? I was afraid you guys would get tangled up with zombies, so I immediately drove the car over."

Suddenly, he caught sight of the head-shot zombies and was startled, patting his chest, "No fear, no fear!"

Su Yue and Gu Yanchen were puzzled about how he found Lin Xi's house, but the current situation didn't allow them to think too much.

The four of them set off towards the beach. Along the way, they encountered quite a few zombies, but Gu Yanchen easily took care of them all.

Finally, they arrived at the beach. The beach was no longer as lively as it once was, with broken, fragmented corpses scattered everywhere.

"Lin Xi... Lin Xi..." Liu Xiu shouted Lin Xi's name loudly, but received no response.

"Don't worry, let's keep walking forward and take a look," Gu Yanchen said, vigilantly watching the surroundings.

Just then, they saw a figure on the beach not far away.

The four of them hurriedly ran towards the figure, and upon getting closer, they discovered it was indeed Lin Xi.

Lin Xi's eyes were tightly closed, her face as pale as paper, as if she had lost all vitality.

"Lin Xi! Lin Xi! Wake up!" Liu Xiu shook Lin Xi's body, trying to wake her up.

Su Yue reached out to check Lin Xi's breath and exclaimed with joy, "She's still breathing! She just fainted."

Gu Yanchen checked Lin Xi's body and found that she had no wounds, but why was she unconscious?

Just as everyone was worried, a low, guttural roar came from the distance.

"It's zombies!" Lian Boyu exclaimed.

Everyone turned to look and saw a group of zombies surging towards them.

"Take Lin Xi and run!" Gu Yanchen couldn't worry about anything else at this moment; he carried Lin Xi on his back and led the group as they sprinted towards the car.

The group rushed to the car, and Gu Yanchen placed Lin Xi in the backseat while the others quickly scrambled into the car.

"Drive!" Gu Yanchen shouted.

Lian Boyu slammed his foot on the accelerator, and the car sped away from the beach.

However, the zombies were in hot pursuit, and their numbers were increasing.

"This can't go on; we have to find a way to shake them off!" Lian Boyu said irritably.

Su Yue looked around and pointed to a small road ahead, "We can drive that way; maybe we can find another way out."

Lian Boyu turned the steering wheel, and the car veered into the small road.

However, the road was rugged and uneven, and the car bumped violently.

"Lin Xi is awake!" Su Yue noticed Lin Xi's fingers move and shouted happily.

Lin Xi opened her eyes weakly, looking at everyone with a blank expression.

"There are a lot of zombies chasing us from behind..." Liu Xiu briefly explained the current situation.

He had a belly full of questions he wanted to ask Lin Xi, but he knew now was not the time.

After listening, Lin Xi struggled to get up, "I can't drag you all down. Please let me off."

"Lin Xi, what silly things are you saying!" Su Yue hugged her body, her face full of heartache, "We won't leave you behind."

At that moment, the car suddenly stalled.

"Damn, what's going on?" Lian Boyu cursed, angrily pounding the steering wheel.

He ran out of the car to check and found that the engine had broken down; he wished he could tear the car apart.

"Damn it, it didn't break down earlier or later, but had to break down right now. Isn't this trying to take our lives?"

Not far behind them was the group of zombies getting closer and closer.
