27: Chapter 27 Preparations Before the Apocalypse (Part 2)
Gu Yanchen grabbed her hand and gave a gentle tug, pulling her into his embrace.
Burying his head on her shoulder, his voice was hoarse and carried a hint of grievance: "I really know I was wrong, Baby, please don't ignore me."
"I want to earn more money to spend on you; I don't want you to live a hard life with me."
Su Yue's eyes turned sore; how could she not know that he was risking his life to earn money just for her?
In her previous life, what kind of hardship hadn't she endured? She was no longer the pampered heiress who had never lifted a finger in her life.
"Let's go inside, otherwise those two will be anxious waiting for us." Su Yue patted his back.
Lin Xi covered her mouth and teased: "What bad things were you two up to?"
Su Yue linked arms with Gu Yanchen, smiling sweetly: "Just what you're thinking!"
Lin Xi let out a mischievous laugh: "Ooh, ooh, ooh."
Liu Xiu peeled an orange and shoved it into her hand: "Eat up."
Lin Xi turned back to thank him: "Thank you, Liu Xiu."
Su Yue's gaze shifted back and forth between the two, wondering if they would be able to spark a romance.
"Do you want to have barbecue for lunch?"
Lin Xi asked: "Is that okay?"
"Then it's settled. I'll have Uncle Butler prepare the ingredients."
"Su Yue, let me go with you." Lin Xi felt embarrassed to trouble Uncle Butler and wanted to help out.
Liu Xiu raised his hand: "Sister-in-law, I'll go too."
Seeing that they all had the same idea, Su Yue waved her hand: "Everyone, let's go prepare the ingredients you like to eat."
Su Yue took the three of them to the kitchen; Gu Yanchen was responsible for moving the barbecue grill, while they were responsible for getting the food.
Gu Yanchen held a skewer of shrimp to her lips: "Baby, try this shrimp. How did I do grilling it?"
Su Yue didn't stand on ceremony and took a bite, her eyes lighting up: "Delicious! Delicious!"
Receiving her praise, Gu Yanchen's face beamed with a smile.
While eating the skewers Liu Xiu had grilled, Lin Xi asked: "Su Yue, your house is so big, aren't you scared?"
Su Yue countered: "Scared of what?"
Lin Xi shook her head: "I don't know."
Liu Xiu leaned in: "Su Yue, I saw them installing electric fences around your Villa. Is that to guard against thieves?"
"We live in a society ruled by law now; murder requires paying with one's life. Don't do anything stupid!"
He took a fierce bite of the lamb skewer in his hand.
Su Yue mysteriously shook her index finger: "That's not it!"
Liu Xiu perked up: "Are you preventing zombies?" He immediately shook his head: "How could that happen in today's world..."
He thought of the resurrected white mice tearing at each other, his mouth trembling: "You aren't being serious, are you?"
Su Yue rewarded him with a grilled fish: "Congratulations, you guessed right."
Liu Xiu felt a sense of fear, glanced around, and then glanced at Gu Yanchen, instantly feeling much more at ease.
He believed every word Su Yue said because he had seen it with his own eyes in the Laboratory.
The skewers in Lin Xi's hand no longer tasted good, and she shivered all over: "Su Yue, don't say such terrifying things, I'm scared."
Su Yue took a sip of coconut juice: "It's good that you're scared. Don't go back today."
Lin Xi didn't believe that zombies could really exist in the world, so she refused: "That won't work. If my parents find out I'm skipping class in my senior year of high school, they'll definitely kill me!"
Su Yue looked at Liu Xiu, and he spread his hands to indicate that he couldn't either.
Then there was nothing she could do; she had already tried her best.
"When you go back, stock up on plenty of food and daily necessities, just in case, so you don't starve."
"By the way, don't go to school tomorrow."
Lin Xi and Liu Xiu watched as Su Yue gave her instructions with a serious expression; feeling that she couldn't be playing games with them, they both sat up straight.
Lin Xi: "If a zombie outbreak happens, I can't even imagine what the world would become."
Liu Xiu: "Let's go home quickly and do as Su Yue said."
Su Yue added, worried: "If you can, come to my house early."
"Okay, we're going back right now."
Lin Xi and Liu Xiu no longer had the heart to eat barbecue and hurried to say their goodbyes.
"Baby, I believe what you said."
Although Gu Yanchen felt it was very fantastical, he unconditionally believed every word Su Yue said.
"Do you think I'm just alarmist?"
Su Yue pinched his handsome cheeks; they were too thin and lacked any fleshiness. She secretly made up her mind that she must fatten him up.
"No, it's just a bit fantastical. The world is full of wonders, and anything can happen!" Gu Yanchen placed her small hand to his lips and kissed it.
Su Yue looked at him, moved, and wrapped her arms around his neck, saying softly and sweetly: "Gu Yanchen, it's so good to have you!"
Thank you for not treating me like a lunatic.
Gu Yanchen held the skewers in one hand and pulled her closer with the other.
"Ahem." Uncle Butler arrived in the backyard and, seeing the two of them embracing, coughed lightly.
Su Yue quickly pushed him away, shyly saying: "Uncle Butler, is there something you need?"
Uncle Butler asked: "Miss, the items have all been bought back. Where should I put them?"
"Put them on the third floor and in the Basement." Su Yue added: "Thank you for your hard work, Uncle Butler."
"Miss, this is what I should do."
Uncle Butler was about to go to the front hall to handle it, but was stopped by Su Yue: "Uncle Butler, please don't tell my dad."
Uncle Butler nodded; he knew what Su Yue was talking about.
He had watched Su Yue grow up. Having no children of his own, he had long regarded her as his own daughter.
