36: Chapter 36 Zombie Attack

After Lian Boyu finished examining Mother Gu's condition, he nearly cursed out loud: "Damn, is that bespectacled bald donkey a complete idiot? He turned a simple surgery into this mess—he's just messing around!"

Uh, Dr. Xia isn't bald, is he? He has a full head of thick, dark hair. How did he become a "bald donkey" in his mouth?

Su Yue couldn't help but wonder if he was blind.

"I'm going to redo the surgery for Mother Gu now. You two stay outside and keep watch."

Su Yue asked with some concern, "Are you confident?"

Lian Boyu became unhappy. "Don't doubt my medical skills!"

Su Yue was doubting his eyesight, but she couldn't say that out loud.

Gu Yanchen chimed in gloomily, "If your eyesight is bad, is it reliable for you to perform surgery?"

Lian Boyu was about to lose it. "Damn it, are you two doing this on purpose to piss me off?"

"How did you know we're a couple? Not bad, young man." Su Yue was in a good mood now; she loved it when others called her and Gu Yanchen a married couple.

Gu Yanchen was in a good mood too. He found Lian Boyu much more pleasing to the eye and kindly reminded him, "Dr. Xia isn't bald."

Lian Boyu looked up at the ceiling, speechless. What kind of weirdos were these? "He wears a wig on his head—if that's not bald, what is?"

Su Yue was curious. "How do you know?"

"Why don't you go pull it off and see for yourself? Also, are we doing Mother Gu's surgery or not? Stop dawdling."

Su Yue said, "Yes, we are!"

"I'm going to arrange the surgery now." With that, Lian Boyu stormed off in a rush.

"A-Yan, don't worry. Mother Gu will be fine."

Su Yue held his hand. She figured that since Lian Boyu had come with a specific purpose, he naturally wouldn't harm Mother Gu; on the contrary, he would do his utmost to save her.

Gu Yanchen shared her thoughts.

Outside the Operating Room, Gu Yanchen and Su Yue grew nervous once again.

Suddenly, Su Yue noticed a figure in janitor's clothing swaying around the corner.

She assumed it was a cleaner and didn't pay it much mind.

Seeing her staring at one spot, Gu Yanchen asked, "Baby, what are you looking at?"

"I saw a cleaner—wait, no. They didn't even have a broom. What were they cleaning?"

Su Yue whipped her head around, only to find that the figure was gone.

Gu Yanchen's expression turned serious as he realized the gravity of the situation. "Baby, are you sure you didn't see wrong?"

"I'm sure I didn't see wrong. It was right there." Su Yue pointed to the corner where the figure had just been.

"I'll go check it out."

Gu Yanchen had just stood up when Su Yue grabbed him. "Don't go over. My intuition tells me it's a zombie. It'll be bad if you lure it over here."

Gu Yanchen agreed with Su Yue. If he rushed over and lured the zombie here, he wouldn't mind, but Su Yue was still here. He couldn't take that risk.

After a while, Su Yue needed to use the restroom, so she said to Gu Yanchen, "I'm going to the restroom."

"I'll go with you." At this critical juncture, Gu Yanchen was not about to let Su Yue go alone.

Su Yue glanced at the tightly closed Operating Room. She thought that since they would be back in a flash, nothing should happen, right?

After using the restroom, Su Yue came out and called for Gu Yanchen. When no one answered, she couldn't help but feel a little worried.

She didn't dare to shout, fearing she might attract zombies.

"Gu Yanchen?"

She walked along, calling out softly. The Hospital was deathly quiet, which was somewhat terrifying.

Suddenly, her eyes widened. Not far away, two zombies were crouched over a nurse, tearing at her, making intermittent swallowing sounds.

Although she had seen many such scenes in her previous life, seeing it now still made her heart palpitate, as if they were biting her.

Su Yue shook off the goosebumps on her skin and leaned against the wall, intending to sneak past.

Just as she was about to pass, creak—she seemed to have stepped on something. She lowered her head and lifted her foot to find it was a hairpin.

Su Yue felt two gazes shoot toward her. She was on the verge of tears and took off running.

In her mind, she cursed the ancestors of whoever had left that hairpin there!

Seeing the zombies closing in, Su Yue shouted anxiously, "Gu Yanchen!"

"Baby, I'm here."

Gu Yanchen appeared from nowhere, swept Su Yue into his arms, and ducked around the corner.

"Where did you go?"

Su Yue buried her head in his chest, her voice thick with tears.

It wasn't that she was being overly sensitive; the tears just came out on their own.

"It's my fault for letting you get scared." Gu Yanchen held Su Yue tightly, his face full of anxiety.

Fortunately, he had arrived in time. If anything had happened to Su Yue, he would never be able to forgive himself.

After being emotional for a while, Su Yue mischievously wiped her snot on his clothes, feeling a small sense of revenge.

Gu Yanchen's eyes were full of indulgence and helplessness. She was the one he had chosen, so he had to spoil her no matter what.

Su Yue poked her little head out and saw the zombies still wandering in the corridor. Her beautiful brows furrowed slightly. "A-Yan, what do we do now?"

Gu Yanchen glanced toward the stairs. "I'll go lure them away. You stay here and don't move."

"Okay." Su Yue knew that if she followed him, she would only be a burden, so she would just wait here for him.

Watching the two zombies swaying behind Gu Yanchen, Su Yue couldn't help but laugh. They looked just like little penguins; it was inexplicably comedic.
