48: Chapter 48 Utterly Useless

"I've lived this long and never been chased by zombies, but today, I've finally experienced it," Lian Boyu said, his tone tinged with excitement and thrill.

Gu Yanchen, leaning against the car door, couldn't help but sneer upon hearing Lian Boyu's words, saying mockingly, "Let you have your fill!"

Lian Boyu didn't fully understand the meaning behind Gu Yanchen's words; he frowned and asked in confusion, "What?"

Before he could finish asking, Gu Yanchen suddenly reached out, grabbed his collar, and forcefully threw him toward the group of zombies behind him.

Lian Boyu's eyes widened, looking at the approaching zombies with terror, and he loudly cursed, "Gu Yanchen, damn you! You actually sent me to my death!"

Lian Boyu used every ounce of strength he had to run forward, desperately trying to shake off the horde of zombies behind him.

Su Yue looked at Gu Yanchen with amusement; she realized this man was truly petty and suddenly felt some sympathy for Lian Boyu.

Seeing that he was about to be caught by the zombies, Lian Boyu dodged into the woods nearby.

However, he did not notice a Mutated Zombies with a massive frame deep in the forest.

By the time he realized the danger, it was already too late.

The Mutated Zombies opened its bloody maw and lunged at him.

Lian Boyu screamed in terror, trying to escape, but the Mutated Zombies was extremely fast and easily grabbed him.

Just then, Gu Yanchen appeared like lightning and fired a shot at the Mutated Zombies's forehead.

The Mutated Zombies went berserk; this level of attack was at most a tickle to it, and Lian Boyu took the opportunity to break free from its grasp.

"Guess you still have a conscience," Lian Boyu panted, looking at Gu Yanchen with lingering fear.

Gu Yanchen remained expressionless, but his eyes were fixed on the Mutated Zombies: "I just didn't want you to die too quickly."

Lian Boyu felt like cursing; his slight feeling of being moved vanished instantly.

The Mutated Zombies roared and turned to lunge at Gu Yanchen. Gu Yanchen dodged to the side, firing his gun continuously, but the bullets had no effect on the Mutated Zombies.

Seeing this, Lian Boyu picked up a wooden stick from the side, rushed up, and struck the Mutated Zombies hard.

"Go!" Gu Yanchen shouted.

Lian Boyu froze for a moment, then immediately understood Gu Yanchen's meaning. He nodded, turned, and ran toward the car.

Gu Yanchen kept firing to draw the Mutated Zombies's attention while slowly retreating, his eyes flashing with determination and resolve.

Lian Boyu ran quickly to the front of the car and looked back, only to see Gu Yanchen forced against a tree by the Mutated Zombies.

"Damn it!" Lian Boyu cursed under his breath. He scrambled to fix the car, but found he couldn't fix it no matter what, and kicked the car in anger.

Su Yue also anxiously watched Gu Yanchen battling the Mutated Zombies with his wits. She wanted to go over but was afraid of causing trouble for him. Suddenly, she opened the trunk, wanting to take out the extra-large gun, but embarrassingly found she couldn't lift it.

She shouted to Lian Boyu: "Come over and help."

Lian Boyu was extremely agitated at the moment, but hearing Su Yue call him, he rushed over. Seeing the extra-large gun in the trunk, his mouth opened wide enough to fit an egg.

He touched it lovingly, his eyes full of admiration: "My goodness, where did you get this from?"

Su Yue said impatiently: "Don't ask so much for now, Gu Yanchen can't wait over there!"

Hearing this, Lian Boyu hurriedly lifted the extra-large gun from the trunk, shouldered it, and ran toward the woods with difficulty.

As he ran, he thought: This gun is a good thing; later, he must find a way to get Su Yue to get him one.

Su Yue returned to the car and immediately saw Lin Xi crying with swollen red eyes, feeling extremely distressed. She then turned to look at Liu Xiu, asking him with her eyes what exactly had happened.

Liu Xiu shook his head helplessly, indicating that he didn't know the reason either. He scratched his hair in frustration; he also wanted to know what Lin Xi had been through during this time.

He tried to comfort Lin Xi, but Lin Xi remained silent, only shedding tears silently. This made Liu Xiu feel incredibly frustrated; he felt he should do something to help Lin Xi, but didn't know where to start.

The atmosphere inside the car became unusually heavy. Everyone was silent, with only the sound of Lin Xi's crying echoing in the air.

Su Yue gently pulled Lin Xi into her arms and patted her back comfortingly. Lin Xi could no longer hold it in and burst into loud sobs.

Gu Yanchen and Lian Boyu finished dealing with the Mutated Zombies and hurried back to where the car was parked. Hearing the crying coming from inside the car, both of them were stunned, wondering what was going on.

Gu Yanchen kicked Lian Boyu, saying coldly: "Go fix the car."

Lian Boyu looked helpless and muttered: "I must have owed you guys in my past life." Then he obediently went to fix the car, but immediately shouted loudly: "Wait, I'm a doctor who studied medicine abroad, how would I know how to fix a car!"

Gu Yanchen swept a cold glance over him. Lian Boyu's momentum instantly weakened, and he muttered quietly: "I really don't know how to fix a car."

"Truly useless!" Gu Yanchen looked at him with contempt, but Lian Boyu stiffened his neck and whispered: "I'm not omnipotent."
