38: Chapter 38 has more? Or is it a large shipment?

Zheng Jing didn't say a word; he followed the Radar System in his mind and started digging immediately.

Fortunately, the item here wasn't buried very deep, just under about fifty centimeters of soil!

Zheng Jing didn't have to exert much effort before a well-preserved silver block was successfully unearthed.

He weighed it lightly in his hand; it was slightly larger than the previous piece he had dug up, weighing a full twenty-plus grams.

Its color was uniform throughout, and the quality was exceptionally high.

"Another 400 yuan in the bag. At this rate, I reckon it won't be long before I can pay off all the debts my dad owes."

The consecutive gains filled Zheng Jing with joy.

After carefully putting the silver block away, just as he was about to stand up and move to a new spot to continue searching, the treasure-hunting Radar System in his mind suddenly lit up again.

The light cluster that appeared this time was completely different from the previous two; it was rich and deep in brightness, firmly locked onto a spot about a meter underground beneath his feet.

Zheng Jing was stunned for a moment. He concentrated to carefully distinguish the characteristics of the light cluster, and his breathing immediately quickened.

Based on his current understanding of the Radar System in his mind, what was buried beneath him was highly likely to be gold!

"Holy crap, I'm rich."

Zheng Jing was extremely excited, and his face even flushed a few shades redder.

However, he was also very clear in his heart that although the "goods" dug up from this treasure-filled mountain hollow today were of higher quality than those from the past two days, the soil here was also much harder and more compact than where he had searched before!

Moreover, the soil layer was mixed with quite a few stones and hard chunks. Trying to dig another meter deeper with just the small hoe and small iron shovel in his hands would be a huge undertaking.

Because not only would he have to clear out a large amount of soil, but the deeper he dug, the more strenuous it would become.

However, having finally encountered something that might be gold, Zheng Jing naturally refused to let it go easily. He immediately steadied his mind, adjusted his state, gripped the hoe in his hands, bent down, and began to dig vigorously toward the depths.

No matter how tiring or bitter it was, could it be more bitter than having no money?

Large beads of sweat rolled down Zheng Jing's cheeks, and the clothes on his body were already soaked through with sweat.

Although he said those words to cheer himself on, the digging process was exceptionally grueling.

Because the soil was hard and thick, and there were crushed stones everywhere, every bit he dug deeper was extremely strenuous.

If he weren't certain that it was likely a gold nugget underneath, and if it were just some ordinary silver material worth a hundred or eighty yuan, Zheng Jing suspected that he would have already thought about retreating and given up.

After digging for who knows how long, Zheng Jing felt his hands were numb and tired. He took out his phone and looked, "Holy crap, it's one-thirty?"

Just a moment ago, he had been digging with one breath, pushing himself hard, without any sense of time or hunger.

Now that he stopped, the strength that had been keeping his body tense suddenly dissipated. His waist ached, his legs hurt, his hands and feet were numb, and a sense of hunger surged over him like a tidal wave, leaving him so hungry that his stomach was sticking to his back, and he almost didn't have the strength to lift his arms.

Zheng Jing felt the Radar System in his mind; that rich, bright light was still more than half a meter deep beneath his feet and definitely couldn't be dug out in a short time.

As the saying goes, sharpening the axe won't delay the chopping of wood. Zheng Jing thought it wouldn't hurt to take a break; at the very least, he needed to eat his fill before he would have the strength to continue working.

So he hurriedly climbed out of the pit he had dug, took out a self-heating rice meal, heated it up hastily, and wolfed it down to fill his stomach. He didn't even have the heart to chew slowly. After drinking a few sips of hot tea to regain some strength and resting for a moment, he felt a bit recovered, so he forced his aching body up and picked up the hoe to dig the pit again.

The deeper he dug, the harder the soil became, and there were more stones. Every swing of the hoe required his full strength.

Unlike the initial burst of energy, now Zheng Jing was panting after only a few digs, drenched in sweat. His arms were so sore he could barely lift them, and his legs were so numb and stiff from squatting that he couldn't even stand steadily.

His physical strength was being exhausted bit by bit, and the frequency of Zheng Jing's breaks became higher and higher.

He had to rest for a long time after digging a few times, catching his breath and wiping sweat, needing to recover for a while before he could continue digging. Every inch he dug deeper was harder than the last. He was exhausted to the extreme, covered in mud and sweat, looking completely disheveled.

Just like this, using all his strength, gnawing away bit by bit, it took another full hour or so before he finally reached the bottom.

Zheng Jing's hands couldn't stop trembling. He carefully brushed away the last layer of soil, clutched the item tightly in his hand, and rinsed it clean with the remaining tea in his water bottle.

Afterward, the color revealed made him unable to help but roar excitedly: "It's worth it! No matter how tired I am, it's worth it!"
