56: Chapter 56 Misunderstanding

"Hey, Lin Ran, where are you going?" Li Keke hurriedly followed after her.

Inside the emergency room lobby, it was still noisy and bustling with people.

Families of patients rushed back and forth, while low murmurs of conversation and the patients' suppressed groans of pain intertwined.

The thick, pungent smell of disinfectant filled every corner of the lobby.

It made those who were already anxious feel even more stifled and depressed.

Zheng Jing and Guo Jianjun looked anxious, carefully pushing the stretcher with Guo Kui on it, walking quickly toward the exit.

They intended to quickly find a hospital that could perform surgery on Guo Kui.

They hadn't gone more than a few steps when a clear, pleasant, yet slightly raspy female voice suddenly rang out beside them.

"Huh, is it you?"

Both of them looked up at the sound. Guo Jianjun looked blank; he didn't recognize the woman in front of him at all and was full of confusion.

But the moment Zheng Jing saw who it was, he froze on the spot, his heart sinking instantly.

It was actually her!

Zheng Jing awkwardly greeted her: "What a coincidence, running into you here."

It turned out that the person in front of them was the beautiful woman driving the G-Wagon whom he had mistakenly thought was trying to commit suicide at the abandoned mine two days ago.

Recalling his reckless and impulsive actions back then, a wave of guilt instantly welled up in Zheng Jing's heart.

Without the slightest hesitation, he said in a sincere tone: "Um, I'm sorry, Miss.

I was too impulsive that day and accidentally hurt you. I'm truly sorry, please forgive me!"

Before Lin Ran could speak, Li Keke, who had caught up, heard this.

Her eyes widened in shock, and her mind went blank.

What?

This man, covered in dust, looking exhausted and like a savage, had actually hurt her good friend?

What on earth was going on!

Li Keke cast an inquiring look at Lin Ran.

Lin Ran ignored her and instead shook her head gently at the guilt-ridden Zheng Jing.

In a calm yet slightly weak voice, she said: "Although you look a bit silly and act recklessly,

your intention was to save someone, and you didn't have any bad intentions. Let's just let this matter go; I won't hold it against you."

Upon hearing this, the guilt that had been weighing on Zheng Jing for days finally subsided by more than half.

Although he had comforted himself by calling her unappreciative, in hindsight, he really had been too reckless.

Zheng Jing cleared his throat and said to Lin Ran: "Alright, thank you for your generosity, Miss. Let's have a proper chat another day when we have time."

After saying this, Zheng Jing signaled to Guo Jianjun, intending to push the person away.

However, Lin Ran stood still, her gaze landing on Guo Kui, who was on the stretcher with his brows tightly locked and his whole body tense from pain.

She softly called out to stop him: "Wait a moment."

She paused, then asked in a calm tone: "I already saw you guys over there just now.

Can you tell me what's going on?"

Zheng Jing didn't hold back and anxiously explained the whole situation: "My brother accidentally broke his bone.

All the beds in the orthopedics department of this hospital are full. We can't get him admitted, and we can't get him scheduled for surgery.

We are worried that delaying it will worsen his condition, so we must switch hospitals immediately to see if we can get the surgery done."

After finishing his hurried explanation, Zheng Jing moved to leave again, but Lin Ran stepped forward directly, blocking their path.

"Wait a minute, don't go."

Seeing this, the anxious look on Zheng Jing's face instantly darkened, and impatience and anger welled up in his eyes.

He thought Lin Ran was going back on her word and still wanted to dwell on the previous misunderstanding.

He immediately suppressed his anger, speaking in a grave yet pleading tone: "Miss, I have already apologized to you very sincerely.

As the saying goes, even if you kill a man, you just cut off his head; I really don't have time to dwell on the past with you.

I need to take my brother to get help; can you stop blocking me? If you have any complaints, we can talk about it later."

Zheng Jing's attitude stunned Lin Ran for a moment, then she rolled her eyes at him, feeling both angry and amused.

Because she was extremely weak from a high fever, she couldn't be bothered to argue with him and just said calmly:

"What are you thinking? I'm not making things difficult for you, don't treat my good intentions as malice!"

After saying this, she took out her phone, dialed a number, and gave a few brief instructions in a low voice.
