72: Chapter Seventy-Two: Midnight Horror

Actually, there was no need for Zheng Jing to remind them; everyone had already realized the danger of this Big Wild Boar.

Guo Jianjun's expression was extremely grim.

The car was his second wife, and being rammed so violently by the Big Wild Boar made him feel as distressed as if he had seen Cousin-in-law Li Lanwei being accosted by someone.

"If I had a hunting rifle, I would definitely make you beast know what true justice is." Guo Jianjun said bitterly.

Zheng Jing saw it clearly through the car window; this Big Wild Boar's actions were exceptionally frenzied.

He didn't know if it could smell the food inside the car or what, but it kept ramming the iveco again and again without stopping.

Outside the car, the Big Wild Boar stared fixedly at the hard hunk of iron in front of it, full of confusion.

What on earth was this thing?

It had rammed it so many times, yet it couldn't even dent it.

With another impact, the iveco still didn't budge, and the ferocity deep within the Big Wild Boar was completely stirred up instead.

It retreated several steps with its thick hind legs, lowered its massive body to gather strength, and the next second, it charged fiercely.

The immense impact force tore open the old scars on its body, and dark red blood flowed continuously along its thick fur.

Yet this wild boar seemed to have lost its sense of pain, completely indifferent to the pain of its flesh tearing.

Its eyes were bloodshot, and it only focused on ramming its head again and again.

Its entire coat was soaked in fresh blood, its appearance frenzied and hideous, making the backs of the people in the car feel a chill.

"This beast is seriously injured, and the pain has worn away its natural fear of humans; right now, it has completely lost its sense of proportion."

Boss Zhao in the back row couldn't help but speak quickly.

"Normally, wild boars run away the moment they see people from afar, but this one, it's fixated on us and won't let go."

Guo Jianjun nodded silently, his knuckles gripping the steering wheel: "Injured wild animals are the most dangerous; that animalistic wildness has been completely triggered."

Just as his voice fell, another dull, loud bang exploded.

The Big Wild Boar's massive head slammed fiercely into the right door, and the outer sheet metal buckled in a large area on the spot.

The harsh sound of twisting metal filled the cramped cabin, making one feel panicked just listening to it, as if the door panel would be smashed through the next second.

Zhao the Second shrank deep into his seat, his voice trembling: "If it keeps ramming like this, the door will be smashed sooner or later!"

The cabin was dead silent; no one replied.

There were absolutely no defensive weapons in the car; the only things they could bring out were the small hoes and engineer shovels used for Gold Panning.

These tools were fine for digging mud pits or chopping firewood in daily life.

But when truly facing a several-hundred-jin, completely crazed Big Wild Boar, they were completely useless.

If they took these things and rashly pushed open the car door to confront it, it would be no different from throwing their lives away.

But letting the wild boar continue to ram the car body like this wasn't a long-term solution either.

Guo Jianjun stared at the wild boar outside, which was constantly gathering strength. After a brief assessment, he immediately spoke to instruct them:

"Everyone hold onto the handles and press against your seats. I'm going to start the car in a moment; the car will shake, so don't move around."

After speaking, he leaned over and turned the car key. The silent engine roared to life, and subtle vibrations spread throughout the car through the seats.

He turned the steering wheel half a turn to slightly adjust the car's angle, then immediately flicked the light lever.

Two blinding high beams suddenly lit up, the white light shining directly on the massive body of the wild boar as it gathered strength for another charge from the side.

The sudden strong light caused the wild boar's movements to freeze abruptly.

No matter how ferocious a wild beast is, it is naturally afraid of blinding white light. Coupled with its serious injuries and massive exhaustion of energy,

its eyes were unable to open due to the glare of the lights, and for a moment, it didn't dare to take a step forward.

Guo Jianjun seized the opportunity and pressed his right hand firmly on the horn without letting go.

"Beep—beep—beep—"

The sharp, urgent sound of the horn echoed repeatedly in the silent mountain forest, making their eardrums numb.

The triple assault of strong light, engine roar, and the harsh horn overwhelmed the Big Wild Boar, which had been so ferocious just a moment ago, causing it to instantly panic.

It stumbled back two steps, its heavy body trembling slightly, and most of its ferocity dissipated.

Hesitating, it looked at the car window for two seconds, but ultimately unable to suppress the fear in its heart, it turned around and dragged its bleeding body away,

plunging into the depths of the pitch-black forest, quickly disappearing, leaving only a chaotic rustling of the surrounding bushes.

The cabin was quiet for a full five seconds before the tense atmosphere eased slightly.

Confirming that the wild boar wouldn't return immediately, Zhao the Second let out a long sigh of relief.

He reached out and touched his back; his entire jacket had long been soaked through with cold sweat:

"I was truly scared to death just now. I thought all of us were going to fall into the hands of this beast tonight."

Guo Jianjun released the steering wheel, raised his hand to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead, his tone full of lingering fear:

"It's a good thing my iveco is built tough. If it were one of those thin-skinned cars, given this wild boar's madness, we would have at least been skinned alive tonight if not killed."

Boss Zhao looked at the dark forest outside the window and sighed softly: "Wild animals in the mountains are just like that.

Once they are injured or starving, they lose all reason. These kinds of crazed beasts really can kill people."

Zheng Jing leaned against the car window, looking at the deep night, secretly warning himself in his heart.

He had always felt that this deep mountain was full of opportunities, and relying on the treasure-hunting radar in his mind, he wouldn't have to worry about not finding gold and silver.

He had been focused solely on Gold Panning and making money, completely ignoring the countless hidden dangers lurking in the mountain forest.

The Big Wild Boar encountered tonight, the venomous snakes met a few days ago, and those steep mountain walls—any one of them could threaten his life.

Although the wild boar had been temporarily scared away by Guo Jianjun, no one could guarantee that it wouldn't return.

The group didn't dare to relax in the slightest.

Guo Jianjun turned off the headlights but kept the engine idling, and the group huddled in the car, toughing out the long night.

From time to time, the faint sound of rustling vegetation came from the forest; at the slightest sign of movement, everyone's hearts immediately tightened.

No one could sleep soundly all night, all of them nervously waiting until the sky began to brighten.

After it was completely bright, the group hurriedly pushed open the car doors to get out and check the damage to the vehicle.

The moment he saw the state of the car body, Guo Jianjun couldn't help but curse under his breath: "Damn it!"

Everyone hurriedly gathered around and immediately gasped!

They saw that on both the left and right doors of the iveco, the marks left by the wild boar's frenzied ramming last night were clear and glaring.

They were densely covered with dents of varying depths, and several pieces of sheet metal had been smashed inward and deformed.

Boss Zhao walked around the car body, looked at the dents in the doors, and frowned.

"Old Guo, since the car was smashed like this by that beast, it will definitely cost a lot of money to repair. You shouldn't have to pay for it all alone; we'll split the repair costs among the four of us."

Zheng Jing and Zhao the Second on the side nodded quickly, indicating they agreed with Boss Zhao's opinion.

Guo Jianjun reached out and rubbed the dented car door. Although his eyes were full of heartache, he waved his hand and said:

"My car has full insurance, so I can just file a claim. It just means the renewal premium next year will be a bit more expensive; it's not a big deal.

It's just, damn it, having a perfectly good car smashed into this state by that beast, I'm a bit annoyed."

Zhao the Second reached out and poked the dented sheet metal, recalling the scene of the wild boar frantically ramming the door last night, and a chill ran down his back:

"Honestly, last night, thanks to this car blocking the front, we were able to come out unscathed. Jianjun, don't be angry anymore. Everyone being safe is better than anything."

Guo Jianjun nodded: "That's true, but from here on out, we might need to make some changes."

"What?" The Zhao Brothers asked, puzzled.

And Zheng Jing's heart tightened abruptly; he seemed to have guessed what Guo Jianjun was about to say.
