47: Chapter 47 Guo Kui is injured

Naturally, none of them had any objections, and they quickly split into pairs.

Zheng Jing and Guo Jianjun formed one group, while The Zhao Brothers formed another.

Both groups tightly gripped their flashlights as they walked into the old forest to search separately.

A full moon hung in the night sky, and while the moonlight should have been bright, it was blocked by layers of dense leaves, failing to illuminate the people moving through the mountains at all.

The entire mountain was as black as if splashed with thick ink; it was pitch black everywhere, and the occasional croaking of crows echoed in their ears, which was exceptionally creepy.

Under the cover of the trees, the flashlights in everyone's hands could only illuminate a few meters ahead; all around were dark, looming tree shadows, making it difficult to even distinguish directions.

Furthermore, the ground was overgrown with weeds and covered in stones, making every step extremely difficult; one would trip if not careful.

"Kuizi..."

"Guo Kui, where are you?"

Zheng Jing and Guo Jianjun called out in turns, but fearing they might startle the beasts in the forest, they dared not raise their voices.

They could only lower their voices and call out anxiously and softly.

After searching in the dense forest for quite a while without finding any trace of Guo Kui, Zheng Jing and Guo Jianjun felt uneasy.

Various bad thoughts played out silently in their minds, but neither dared to voice them.

Just as the two were becoming increasingly anxious, a night breeze slowly blew past.

Zheng Jing's ears twitched; he seemed to catch a hint of unusual movement and immediately stopped in his tracks.

"Brother Jun, did you hear any movement? It sounds like Kuizi's voice."

Guo Jianjun immediately stopped and tilted his ear to listen carefully to the surrounding sounds, frowning after a moment.

"I didn't hear anything. Which direction is the sound coming from?"

"There is definitely movement, right in this area."

Zheng Jing said firmly, and following the faint sound, he quickly groped his way toward the bushes to the side.

Sure enough, they hadn't gone far before a faint, painful moaning drifted over with the wind, intermittent and broken.

Confirming that it really was Guo Kui's voice, the heavy stone hanging in Guo Jianjun's heart settled slightly.

At the same time, he exclaimed, "Damn, Zheng Jing, your ears are good; it really is Kuizi's voice!"

Zheng Jing didn't have time to reply to Guo Jianjun; he shone his flashlight and rushed forward.

Seeing Zheng Jing rush forward so anxiously and recklessly, Guo Jianjun felt moved while saying in a low voice, "Slow down, it's not going to make a difference now."

The mountain road at night was full of hidden dangers, and he was afraid that Zheng Jing might also have an accident.

The two followed one after the other and soon found a person curled up in the bushes, following the moans; when the light hit him, it was indeed the missing Guo Kui!

But at this moment, Guo Kui was in a wretched state.

His entire face was bruised and swollen, his eye sockets were black and blue, and his forehead and cheeks were covered in abrasions, stained with mud and grass clippings.

His clothes were torn to shreds, his body was covered in bruises and contusions, and his ankle was swollen high.

He was slumped on the ground, shivering uncontrollably from the pain, unable to move at all.

"Kuizi!"

"Guo Kui?"

The two exclaimed in unison, hurriedly crouching down to gently support him, not daring to use any force for fear of touching his wounds.

Seeing the two arrive, Guo Kui, who was curled up in the bushes, couldn't help but feel his nose sting.

"Damn, you guys finally came. I knew you would come..."

Looking at his cousin in this state, Guo Jianjun frowned deeply, "How did you end up like this? Did you run into a wild beast?"

Guo Kui gritted his teeth, enduring the intense pain throughout his body, and after panting for a long time, he spoke with frustration and annoyance, "I didn't run into a beast. I ran into Boss Zhou and his Gold Panning gang."

Upon hearing that his good brother had a conflict with people, Zheng Jing immediately asked angrily, "Who? Did they beat you into this state?"

Guo Jianjun explained in a deep voice from the side, "Boss Zhou is the one we mentioned to you before; he's the other Gold Panning team."

After speaking to Zheng Jing, Guo Jianjun's tone was filled with anger, "Fuck those people! For so many years, everyone has kept to their own territory and not bothered each other, yet today they actually beat you into this state! Let's go, I'm going to find them right now; if I don't beat them to death, I'll be their son!"

Seeing his cousin furious and ready to fight, Guo Kui shook his head quickly, his face full of helplessness and frustration, "No, no, they didn't actually hit me. We just had a conflict and argument."

Catching his breath, he slowly began to recount the whole incident.
