146: Answering questions

Amidst the boundless sea of clouds, a gentle breeze blew, making the clouds ripple like shimmering water, dreamy and beautiful. The Yao Venerable sat upon his throne, high above, like a deity looking down upon the world.

Just as Gu Yuchuan was about to salute, the Yao Venerable waved his hand to interrupt him and manifested a stool beneath him: "Sit. There is no need for formalities. I truly dislike those human etiquettes here."

After sitting down, Gu Yuchuan spoke somewhat nervously: "I ask Your Majesty to punish me. I did not complete Your Majesty's mission well, and in the end, Your Majesty had to save me so we could return together."

The Yao Venerable smiled and shook his head: "You, though your potential is good, your low cultivation level makes your vision truly narrow. You can only see the surface of many things and cannot see the essence. Do you think we failed this time because we didn't establish a large-scale Teleportation Array and couldn't send a large number of our people over?"

Gu Yuchuan nodded; that was exactly what he meant.

The Yao Venerable laughed again: "As expected, you still have much to learn. Let me ask you, even if we established that Formation now, how many people could we send over? Would I dare to go over directly? Think about it carefully."

After a long while, Gu Yuchuan shook his head: "Indeed, we cannot. Our most important task right now is still the battle with the Human Race. After all, Cloud Sea Marsh is our core territory. We must protect it before considering anything else."

The Yao Venerable's gaze softened slightly: "Good, you are a quick learner. You are right; the current battle with the Human Race prevents us from being distracted. Although the Nascent Soul Stage and Soul Transformation Stage Cultivators have not personally taken the field, in reality, we have clashed with our Auras many times, and have even made moves in the shadows. At the very least, I have fought the Celestial Master of Dragon Tiger Mountain three times, and neither of us can overcome the other. That is why the war is at a stalemate. Although the Human Race has not said it explicitly, the eight cities we have captured now belong to us."

Gu Yuchuan stood up and bowed: "I congratulate Your Majesty. May our Yao Race, under Your Majesty's leadership, grow stronger and eventually surpass the Human Race to become the masters of the Qingyun Realm."

No one dislikes hearing praise, and the Yao Venerable was no exception, especially when these words hit close to home.

"You are right. Such a day will eventually come. My life's ambition is to make the Yao Race stronger, and I will surely achieve it."

Having said that, his tone shifted: "As for the matters in the Canglan Realm, Venerable Faming has already been crippled by me, and he himself is a massive source of energy. As long as I take action, his Primordial Spirit will transform into the nourishment to establish the Teleportation Array. Our Yao Race army can enter at any time. However, not now. Our Yao Race is currently digesting the Luck and resources we just obtained; we will advance first before anything else. As for you, Cultivate diligently."

Gu Yuchuan nodded with a solemn look: "Rest assured, Your Majesty. In this life, I am devoted to the immortal Dao and will never delay my cultivation for a moment."

The Yao Venerable looked at him, his thoughts unknown: "Originally, I intended to give you a dragon gate slot directly as a reward for this mission. However, I heard that a Yao King has already recommended you for the selection. With your strength, it is not impossible to pass the selection. Therefore, this reward must be changed. How about this: I will provide all the Materials you need to advance to the Golden Core, regardless of what they are. This shall be your reward."

What a generous offer! Gu Yuchuan possessed an Earthly Fiend Dao Foundation, so the Golden Core he formed could never be an ordinary one. The requirements for heavenly treasures and earthly rarities would be extremely high. The Yao Venerable's willingness to provide them was a massive benefit. Gu Yuchuan immediately expressed his gratitude.

"Thank you, Your Majesty. I will certainly Cultivate hard and fight for the Yao Race in the future."

These were his sincere words. Since he was currently within the Yao Race's sphere of influence, and the leader of the Yao Race did not seem like someone who couldn't tolerate subordinates rising up, having such a powerful backer naturally made cultivation easier. Even with the simulator, he had to admit that he had received many Opportunities and protection within the Yao Race. He was willing to fight for them.

"Alright, prepare to go back and Cultivate well. By the way, I heard something. You killed quite a few members of the Yao Race. This is not a good thing. I personally promulgated a decree that the Yao Race cannot kill each other at will. Of course, I know they tried to kill you first, but if you encounter such a situation again, just cripple them and hand them over to a Yao King to handle. I do not wish to hear in the future that the junior I value was the first to disrespect the decree I issued."

Gu Yuchuan bowed low. He indeed had some issues regarding this matter, involving the Artifact Refiners Alliance and the Azure Bird Demon General. It truly violated the law, but no one had bothered to hold him accountable. Now that the Yao Venerable had pointed it out, he was somewhat concerned.

"Rest assured, Your Majesty. I did not pay attention to this before, but I will certainly be careful in the future. I will never do such a thing again. Even if other Yao Race members want to kill me, I will only cripple them and hand them over to a Yao King. I shall take my leave now."

Seeing that the Yao Venerable had no further instructions, he departed. This trip to the Canglan Realm yielded two major gains. First, he had enough resources to advance to the Golden Core Stage. Second was an invisible benefit: he had caught the Yao Venerable's eye.

If the entire Yao Race of Cloud Sea Marsh were viewed as a Dynasty, then the Yao Venerable was the Emperor. Having caught the Emperor's eye, his future path would naturally be much easier. Even if Gu Yuchuan did not plan to enter politics, this would be of great benefit to Bright Stream and Linlang Pavilion.

Soon, he returned to Bright Stream. His subordinates were overjoyed. After all, while Gu Yuchuan was away, they always felt the household lacked a pillar of support and lacked confidence in whatever they did. They were all Cultivators at the Qi Refinement Stage, and managing a Foundation Establishment level power was indeed beyond their capabilities. It was now urgent for Bright Stream to produce a second Foundation Establishment Cultivator. Fortunately, Bai Ming and Pei Yu were both nearly there.

He briefly caught up on family matters. Nothing major had happened, so he prepared to go into seclusion. This trip to the Canglan Realm had taken a total of twenty days. Although he had rested for a while there, he hadn't been truly relaxed for a single minute. He had been in a state of high pressure that made it hard to breathe. He needed a good rest.

He returned to his room and began to rest. What he didn't know was that a major event was about to occur in the Qingyun Realm. The strongest of the Yao Race, the Yao Venerable, and the strongest of the Human Race, the Celestial Master of Dragon Tiger Mountain, met in a secret space. They were to discuss a major event that would change the world.
