27: Beekeeping Forest

By now, the two Senior Brothers who had come to support were both dead, leaving only the half-dead Mo Changning. She could never have imagined that her two Senior Brothers would die so easily at the hands of a snake demon. It was just a snake demon, and they were Disciples of the Beast Taming Sect, whose specialty was killing prodigies, yet they had died at the hands of a Prodigy.

The light had already faded from her eyes, as she had clearly lost all hope. She looked at Gu Yuchuan and said, "Prodigy, you have committed countless evils. One day, you will die without a place to be buried. The Seniors of my Beast Taming Sect will not let you go."

If Gu Yuchuan could have transformed into human form, he would have surely given her a wicked smile. What kind of thing dared to threaten him? Even if the Beast Taming Sect didn't come looking for him in the future, he would go looking for them. The people of the Beast Taming Sect had killed him so many times in the Simulations; it was enough to make them all pay with their lives.

He didn't bother to speak, sending out a blast of mana that sent her to join her two Senior Brothers. After devouring her essence, his mana became even more condensed. Although there was no increase in power—after all, her Qi Refining Third Layer cultivation was worlds apart from his Qi Refining Seventh Layer—it was certain there would be no enhancement.

Next, he could pack up and head to the Bee Raising Forest. Speed was of the essence; the deaths of these three Cultivators would surely alert them. If a Cultivator didn't even have this much alertness, they shouldn't Cultivate and might as well just bash their head against a wall and die.

A day later, he arrived outside the Bee Raising Forest. He could sense an earth-type energy protecting the forest, which should be the Formation here. However, he knew nothing about Formations; otherwise, this wouldn't be an issue at all. Could he, a Late Qi Refining Stage Yao Beast, be killed by a few Mid Qi Refining Stage Cultivators?

He activated invisibility and cautiously entered the Formation. Instantly, everything before him began to change, as if he had entered a desert. A man and a woman in the Bee Raising Forest were immediately startled from their cultivation.

Of these two, one wore silver armor and looked majestic, like a general, while the other wore a palace dress and looked elegant and refined. Both were at the Fifth Level of Qi Refining, named Wen Jiran and Xie Lan. They were Fifth Level of Qi Refining Cultivators, and their status was quite different from that Senior Brother Wang.

Senior Brother Wang was already over fifty and had basically no hope of advancing to Foundation Establishment or becoming an Inner Sect Disciple. However, both of them were under thirty and had a great chance of reaching the Late Qi Refining Stage and becoming Inner Sect Disciples before thirty. Their potential was limitless. Coming to guard the Bee Raising Forest this time was also to gain experience and prepare for their future promotion to the inner sect. Their methods were much more powerful than Senior Brother Wang's.

Gu Yuchuan had already activated his Green Scale Shield by now. The wind and sand hitting his scales were actually quite painful, and he couldn't even see the scene ahead clearly. Fortunately, he now had Divine Sense, which made things much better, allowing him to see the incoming attacks clearly. But how was he supposed to get out?

There are generally only two ways to exit a Formation: one is to break it with brute force, and the other is to find the Formation core. He knew nothing about Formations, so he certainly wouldn't be able to find the core. Thus, he could only resort to brute force. Fortunately, this was only a low-level Formation and wasn't that difficult to break. Since it didn't involve space, it was relatively easy.

He was Soaring on Clouds and Riding the Mist, ascending into the air until he felt a barrier. This was the edge of the Formation. As long as he broke this barrier, he could break out. With a flick of his tail, eight Water Swords appeared behind him, forming a small disc in the air and striking the barrier. Fine cracks began to appear on the barrier. Although this single strike didn't break the Formation, it was enough to prove his idea was correct.

However, the two Cultivators outside didn't think so. Xie Lan took a step forward: "Senior Brother, this little snake demon dares to be so insolent. Let me go and kill him."

Without waiting for him to speak, she summoned a flag. This was the core of the Formation; by controlling it, one could control the Formation. Although Xie Lan seemed full of confidence and didn't take the opponent seriously, she knew in her heart that she couldn't defeat this Late Qi Refining Stage snake demon, so she had to rely on the Formation.

A Formation is, after all, a dead object; its power is much smaller when no one is controlling it. Therefore, once Xie Lan began to control it, its power increased significantly. A tornado was even flying toward him now, and he could no longer keep his clouds steady. The tornado tossed him around until he was dizzy. If he hadn't eaten much these past few days, he would have vomited uncontrollably.

This made him very angry, and the killing intent in his heart intensified. He let out a roar, and two giant pythons made of flowing water appeared behind him. They were full of spirit and rushed toward the barrier. This time, the cracks grew even larger.

Xie Lan looked at her Senior Brother, her tone becoming firm: "Senior Brother, if we let this Prodigy break out of the Formation, I don't need to tell you what our fate will be. Look at his Soaring on Clouds and Riding the Mist; that's something only Dragon Kin can do. You know the value of a Dragon Kin snake demon. Why don't we join forces and take him down?"

Wen Jiran looked at Xie Lan, his eyes deep: "Junior Sister, there's only one Dragon Kin, but there are two of us. Who does the snake belong to?"

Xie Lan actually laughed out loud: "Doesn't Senior Brother think it's foolish to ask this question now? You should be asking how we can die more gracefully if we don't unite to deal with this Yao Beast now."

Wen Jiran clenched his fists: "Fine, we'll subdue him first and discuss the rest later."

He picked up a Long Spear and flew into the Formation.

Gu Yuchuan was very excited to see someone: "You cowards who hide your heads but show your tails have finally come in. Watch as your Grandpa Snake kills you."

After saying that, he activated invisibility, though his traces could still be faintly seen in the wild sand. The two giant water pythons had already flown over first. The opponent raised his spear and fought with the pythons. Gu Yuchuan appeared behind him and lunged, coiling around him tightly.

This was the most common hunting method for pythons: coiling around the prey and slowly squeezing them until they could no longer breathe and their internal organs were crushed. However, Wen Jiran's armor seemed to be a treasure that protected him well. But Gu Yuchuan had other tricks; he spat a mouthful of venom onto the other's face, and Wen Jiran could only scream in agony.

That scream caused Xie Lan's heart to sink to the bottom.
