94: Going home

After killing the three Yellow Springs Sect Cultivators who blocked his path, he prepared to return home. However, he wrote a Jade Slip to report the incident to the Black Tortoise Demon General. He was not without backing; although he did not have a Demon King behind him, the Black Tortoise Demon General, as one of the four great Demon Generals of the Cloud Sea Marsh periphery, had a Demon King behind him. Now that the people from the Yellow Springs Sect had slapped them in the face, they naturally could not pretend that nothing had happened. However, this matter no longer concerned Gu Yuchuan for the time being.

He traveled all the way and finally arrived at Bright Stream when the moon and stars appeared in the sky. High above, the bright moonlight shone upon him, adding a touch of sanctity to his figure. He looked like a deity descending above Bright Stream. He did not conceal his Aura, and surely someone in the Flood Dragon Palace would have sensed it.

In the Flood Dragon Palace, both Bai Ming and Bai Li were now at the Fifth Level of Qi Refining, so they could certainly sense it.

Indeed, in less than half an incense stick of time, several subordinates rushed over. Those with feet knelt down, while those without pressed their heads against the water surface, signaling their submission.

"Subordinates pay respects to the Great King and congratulate the Great King on returning home."

Gu Yuchuan nodded, looking at his subordinates below. There were Bai Ming and Bai Li, who had followed him from the earliest days, as well as Song Chuan, who had joined him at Bright Stream, and even Yu Qiu and Yu Dong. Wait, why was there an extra Spirit Fish? It looked thin and small, having just entered the First Level of Qi Refining. It must have been one of the Spirit Fish that had gained intelligence; this was truly good news.

Seeing Gu Yuchuan's gaze, Bai Ming knew what he was thinking.

"Great King, this little sister is called Yu Linglong. She is of the same species as Yu Dong and the others, and she only successfully gained intelligence and became a demon Cultivator the day before yesterday."

Gu Yuchuan nodded. He was quite happy to see new talent: "Alright, it is late at night now, so you should all go back and rest. Gather at my Immortal Cave early tomorrow morning to report on the recent affairs of Bright Stream, your recent cultivation progress, and your work. Those who have done well will be rewarded, and those who have not will naturally be punished. Go back now."

After saying this, he walked inside, leaving the others behind. Those who were confident in themselves, such as Bai Ming, whose duties were clear and who managed many things, believed she had done a good job. She expected only rewards tomorrow, so she was naturally very happy and held her head high, appearing quite proud.

However, human joys and sorrows are not always shared. While some were happy, others were not, such as Yu Dong and Yu Qiu. They had joined Bright Stream much later, and by the time they arrived, the power structure within Bright Stream had already been clearly defined. Recently, they had only been Cultivating and had done nothing else. They did not know if the Great King would be displeased because of this, but there was no other way; they could only wait for tomorrow to arrive.

Gu Yuchuan did not care about this. He had expended much effort outside, so upon returning to his own territory, it was only natural for his subordinates to please him and try to fathom his thoughts. He had already been very good to them; if they could not even manage this, they were truly not worth cultivating.

He lay on his white jade bed, happily rolling around. This was the first time he had lain on his bed in his human form. Sure enough, golden nests and silver nests are not as good as one's own dog kennel—not to mention that this was not a dog kennel, but a little nest he had meticulously crafted. He took out a complete set of silk and goose down sheets and blankets from his Storage Pouch and arranged them on the bed. It was now even more comfortable. Indeed, things produced by the Human Race were best for enjoyment.

He lit a stick of sandalwood incense and began to bathe. He wanted to be clean before lying on the bed he had just made. By the time he finished bathing and lay down, half an hour had passed. He prepared to Cultivate for a while, but felt that his mind was a bit tired, which meant he was not in a suitable state for Cultivation.

Although Cultivation is something that must be done daily, being too tense is not a good thing as it increases the risk of Qi Deviation. Although he had the Golden Light Incantation to protect him, he could not recklessly increase such risks.

He decided not to Cultivate tonight. He recited the Golden Light Incantation twenty times and prepared to go to sleep. The entire Golden Light Incantation was only a few hundred words, so reciting it twenty times did not take much time.

He fell into a deep sleep amidst the faint fragrance of incense. Outside, he had never slept this well; home was truly comfortable.

He was sleeping so happily in his Immortal Cave, but the others were not as happy; none of his subordinates slept that night.

Since they had to report their work and Cultivation progress the next morning, they couldn't just improvise on the spot. They had to think it through beforehand. At the very least, they had to prepare what to say. Otherwise, if their minds went blank, they would forget everything and be unable to speak, which would surely lead to punishment.

Soon, the next day arrived. When the first ray of sunlight appeared, the group of subordinates arrived at the meeting hall to wait for Gu Yuchuan. Each of them came very early. Indeed, since no specific time was set the previous night, only "early tomorrow morning," they certainly could not arrive later than Gu Yuchuan. Furthermore, since none of them had slept, it was only natural that they arrived early.

In reality, Gu Yuchuan had not yet woken up. However, fortunately, he had developed the habit of sleeping early and rising early on the battlefield, where laziness was the most fatal flaw. Thus, after the group had waited for the time it takes to burn an incense stick, Gu Yuchuan woke up. He had intended to laze in bed for a while, but when his Divine Sense swept out and he sensed the meeting hall was full of people, he woke up immediately.

Good heavens, why were these people so competitive? Their Great King hadn't even woken up yet, and they were already there. It was simply terrifying.

However, they could not help but take it seriously. This was the first general meeting since the establishment of the Flood Dragon Palace, and everyone was brimming with energy, intending to let the Great King see their efforts so they would be more valued in the future.

Gu Yuchuan put on his clothes, washed up simply, and tied his hair back casually with a hairband before going out. He really missed his days with the Human Race, because he didn't know how to style his hair. Although a man just needed to tie it up with a hairband and fix it with a hair crown—which was very simple—as a straight man, this was already beyond his range of knowledge.

He felt that he needed a maidservant now, at least to be responsible for styling his hair; otherwise, it was crooked and messy, which was really a bit ugly. Forget it, he didn't care about it anymore. Anyway, there were no outsiders, so he walked straight to the meeting hall.
