60: Calculating the Cloud Leopard

The next day, he woke up very early. Sunlight filtered through the window screen, faintly shining on him with a warm feeling. As a cold-blooded animal, he loved this gentle warmth; it was just right.

He stretched a few times on the bed, preparing to get up with satisfaction. There was much to do today. No, he should check his panel first and admire his Spirit Beast panel.

[Subordinates: White Jade Koi Bai Li (Mid-grade Demon Beast, Qi Refining Fourth Layer cultivation); Half-Demon Fox Demon Bai Ming (Mortal Beast, Qi Refining Fourth Layer cultivation); Five-Colored Clam Pei Yu (Low-Grade Demonic Beast, Qi Refining Sixth Layer cultivation); Crucian Carp Song Chuan (Mortal Beast, Qi Refining Fourth Layer cultivation)]

The more he looked, the brighter his eyes became. Besides his own changes, two of his subordinates had actually broken through. Pei Yu reached the Qi Refining Sixth Layer, and Bai Li reached the Qi Refining Fourth Layer. Good, good, good—his force was constantly developing, which was excellent; he was very happy.

After checking his panel, he lay back down. He needed to think about how to handle the Cloud Leopard issue. There were indeed two ways to deal with it before him.

The first was the method common in male-oriented novels: ambush and kill him. This would certainly be satisfying and provide thorough revenge, but it also had major drawbacks. First, as the offspring of a Foundation Establishment Stage expert, there was no telling what life-saving items he possessed; it was possible Gu Yuchuan might not be able to defeat him.

Furthermore, the Cloud Leopard was still a member of the Yao Race. Without evidence, directly killing him would not be good if exposed. It would be difficult to prove he had killed a traitor. Thus, it was a significant risk.

The second was the method common in female-oriented novels: play dirty. For instance, lure the Cloud Leopard out, constantly hurling insults at the Beast Taming Sect and his mother, and secretly use a shadow recording stone. Finally, when the time was right, corner him by revealing he knew the leopard was a Yao Beast from the Beast Taming Sect. As long as the leopard showed a weakness, he could take the shadow recording stone to the Demon Generals, and the leopard would be doomed.

However, this also had its drawbacks. First, the leopard might not actually show a weakness; after all, he had been undercover in the Yao Race for so long, so he likely had a decent temperament. Second, it wasn't satisfying enough. For revenge, slaying the enemy with one's own hands was the most satisfying. While this method was safe, it lacked that thrill.

He thought about it; both methods had flaws. He tossed and turned on the bed, then suddenly sat up. Right! Why not combine them? Merge the advantages of both modes to maintain safety while keeping the satisfaction of revenge.

Having thought of this, he set off immediately. The first step of revenge was to get an opportunity to be alone with the Cloud Leopard. This opportunity would have to be realized through the Black Tortoise Demon General. After all, the only high-ranking person he knew was the Black Tortoise Demon General.

He went out immediately to see the Black Tortoise Demon General. Although the general was busy, Gu Yuchuan had successfully promoted to a Spirit Beast, so the general gave him Face and met with him. Gu Yuchuan got straight to the point.

"Demon General, I've come to ask for a favor. I've received information that King Cloud Leopard under the White Crane Demon General is from the Beast Taming Sect. So, please help me by issuing a scouting mission for the two of us. I want to confirm if he is truly a traitor."

The Black Tortoise Demon General's eyes dimmed slightly. He thought for a moment before speaking in a heavy tone, "Little Gu, regarding the Beast Taming Sect's control over beasts, you know we've checked many times and found quite a few Yao Beasts. I can guarantee that among us, absolutely no one has signed a contract with the Beast Taming Sect. This was personally checked by a Nascent Soul Stage Demon Emperor; there will be no mistakes."

Gu Yuchuan was already cursing inwardly. That damn Cloud Leopard had already schemed to kill him twice in Simulations; only he knew for sure if the leopard was a traitor.

He adjusted his emotions, knowing the Black Tortoise Demon General meant well. After all, if the Cloud Leopard wasn't a traitor, Gu Yuchuan's actions would offend both the Cloud Leopard and the White Crane Demon General. Although he was a Spirit Beast, his cultivation was only at the Qi Refining Stage. Offending a Foundation Establishment Demon General would certainly hinder his future.

"Demon General, what if he hasn't signed a contract? What if he was raised in the Beast Taming Sect from the start? You can send someone to investigate. The first time King Cloud Leopard appeared was after he reached adulthood; there's no trace of him during his youth at all. This is definitely unreasonable. For a Yao Beast to survive, they either have family or must hunt for themselves when young. This point about the Cloud Leopard is very suspicious."

It had to be said that Gu Yuchuan could pinpoint the suspicious areas. The Black Tortoise Demon General was now somewhat swayed.

"Alright, wait here for a moment. I'll send someone to check this. If it's as you say, then I'll leave this matter to you. I'll even give you defensive Talismanic Incantations as life-saving items. But if you're wrong, this matter ends here, and do not suspect your colleagues randomly in the future. Understand?"

Gu Yuchuan nodded. He was confident; after all, the information came from the Cloud Leopard himself, who had said he grew up in the Beast Taming Sect and that the sect was his home.

Soon, the Yao Beast sent to investigate returned and nodded to the Black Tortoise Demon General. The general's expression turned very grim. He was thinking further: if the Cloud Leopard could be from the Human Race's Beast Taming Sect, then there might be more than one traitor among the Yao Race now, which would certainly be detrimental to the war.

However, he first gave Gu Yuchuan a Golden Light Talisman. "You recognize this. Go back for now. Within the next two days, your request will be granted. I need to report this to the Demon King."

Gu Yuchuan immediately bowed and withdrew. Indeed, using this matter to make the Yao Race search for traitors again was a good thing.
