138: Chapter 138 Using Another's Strength to Fight Back

The steam dispersed.

The outline of the entrance platform to the second level appeared in the darkness above.

Blake stood on a thick shaft, his breathing suddenly becoming heavy.

Pierre from France was hanging from a transmission arm not far away, blood seeping from his rope.

Ivan jumped down from the high platform, the tip of his bone pickaxe already shattered.

The two from the United Kingdom were separated by two sets of counter-rotating gears, their faces pale.

Along with Lin Ye and Zhao Mengmeng.

Fewer than ten people had survived to reach the gear bridge.

Whoever could be the first to rush onto the second level would be able to claim the top-tier resources.

Blake tore off his tattered animal hide cloak.

He switched his bone spear to his left hand.

He tore off a piece of animal tendon and tightened it around the gaping wound on his right shoulder.

The muscles at the corner of his eye twitched as he kept his peripheral vision fixed on the Dark Weaver on Lin Ye's wrist.

In ground combat, he could rely on his size to crush opponents.

But when borrowing force in mid-air, the Great Xia man's wire was deadly.

Blake stepped onto a swinging pillar beside him.

He used the momentum to leap out.

In mid-air, he kicked hard against a fixed metal pillar.

Clang!

The metal pillar hummed and vibrated.

Utilizing the powerful recoil, his massive body lunged diagonally, inserting itself directly in front of the gear bridge entrance.

Ivan, who had also been approaching the bridgehead, was nearly knocked over by him.

Ivan raised his bone pickaxe: "USA, don't block the way."

Blake didn't even turn his head: "Only those who are behind shout."

Ivan sneered and lowered his bone pickaxe.

The bridge surface was too narrow; if they fought, both would end up falling and being smashed into pulp.

Lin Ye stepped on the edge of a slow-moving wheel.

His gaze swept across the bridge surface.

The movement patterns of the seven gears rapidly formed in his mind.

Number one moved horizontally, opening and closing every three seconds.

Number two rose, pausing for less than half a second.

Number three reversed, its center offset.

Number four was the most dangerous, its edge sweeping with side teeth.

Numbers five and six synchronized briefly.

The last segment of number seven sank sharply.

Zhao Mengmeng pushed the mechanism of the Wind-Chasing Claw to the max.

"Shall we grab it?"

"Grab it."

Lin Ye stared at the figure ahead: "He is in front, the bridge will react to his rhythm first, we will use his blind spot."

Blake stepped onto the first gear.

His massive weight caused the gear bearing to emit a piercing screech.

The first gear shifted to the right.

Before it closed, Blake forced himself to leap onto the second gear.

Blood spurted from the wound on his right shoulder, but the explosive power in his legs remained terrifying.

Zhao Mengmeng gritted her teeth watching: "This white-skinned bear can really jump."

Lin Ye didn't say anything.

He slightly raised his right hand.

The Dark Weaver shot toward the lower edge of the bridgehead.

Zhao Mengmeng's Wind-Chasing Claw simultaneously bit into a side pillar.

The two used the tension of the two lines to swing toward the bridge surface.

The first gear was about to close.

Lin Ye did not step on the center.

His combat boot landed on the outermost tooth edge.

Zhao Mengmeng landed right behind him.

When the two leaped onto the second gear.

Blake had already stepped firmly onto the junction of the third and fourth gears.

He turned his head abruptly.

The Great Xia people were only two gears away from him.

Blake's eyes flashed with malice.

He spotted a loose, heavy iron rod on the side of the bridge, one end stuck in the gear casing, teetering.

His left hand thrust the bone spear violently.

His right leg delivered a violent kick.

Clang!

The iron rod detached from its bracket.

The several-hundred-pound solid metal piece, carrying violent rotational force, whistled as it smashed toward Lin Ye in mid-air.

Lin Ye drew his damaged Fire Axe with his left hand.

He didn't take it head-on.

His wrist flipped rapidly, the axe blade slicing diagonally into the side of the iron rod.

Clang!

Sparks flew everywhere.

Lin Ye's left arm went numb, and half his body was knocked half a foot off course in mid-air.

The heavy iron rod grazed the bear hide on his shoulder, carving out a deep, white-fleshed gash.

"I'm going to kill you!"

Zhao Mengmeng cursed angrily, raising her crossbow to pull the trigger.

"Don't shoot!"

Lin Ye's low roar was mixed into the sound of the wind.

His right hand fired a single shot from the Dark Weaver.

The Nano-wire wrapped tightly around the tail end of the deflected iron rod.

The high-frequency engine violently retracted it.

Blake's pupils constricted violently.

He watched helplessly as the iron rod was forcibly pulled into a V-shape in mid-air.

The rotation speed doubled.

It swung backward, smashing toward his feet!

Blake wanted to retreat.

But the fourth gear under his feet was misaligning and sweeping sideways.

Taking half a step back would mean being shredded by the side teeth.

Bang!

The iron rod viciously jammed into the gap where the fourth gear and the transmission wheel meshed.

The piercing sound of metal grinding echoed all around.

The gear was forcefully jammed to a halt for half a turn.

The immense recoil snapped the supporting bearing at the bottom.

Boom!

A large chunk of the bridge surface exploded on the spot.

Blake's feet went empty, and his two-hundred-plus-pound body plummeted straight toward the abyss.

"Blake!"

His USA companions behind him screamed until their throats were raw.

In this life-or-death moment.

Blake threw away the large bag of dried meat and warm animal hides at his waist.

He clawed frantically at the edge of the broken gear with both hands.

The sharp gear teeth sliced directly into the flesh of his palms.

Blood flowed straight down along the fracture.

His lower body was completely suspended over the abyss, and beneath his feet were the crazily rotating, meat-grinding giant teeth.

The Great Xia Live Stream went completely wild.

"[SF Express to your feet! Returning the goods on the spot!]"

"[This white-skinned bear is hanging like cured meat, USA come and claim him!]"

"[Wasn't kicking the iron rod very cool? Cool off slowly down there!]"

The fourth gear was jammed, creating a three-second dead zone of stagnation on the bridge.

"Go."

Lin Ye retracted his line.

Using the remaining tension, he crossed the fracture zone.

Zhao Mengmeng pulled the Wind-Chasing Claw to the max.

Her boot stepped on a piece of falling metal debris.

She leaped into the air.

She landed steadily onto the fifth gear.

Lin Ye leaped continuously, sticking close to the wreckage.

Blake hung tightly onto the edge of the broken bridge, looking up as the two flew over his head.

His eye sockets were as red as blood.

"Lin Ye!"

The stiff, hoarse Great Xia language squeezed out from his throat.

Lin Ye's combat boot tapped onto the sixth gear.

He didn't slow down.

He didn't even spare him a glance.

Before Zhao Mengmeng landed on the seventh gear, she looked back down at him.

"Hang on tight."

"Don't fall too fast, I haven't seen enough yet."

Blake was so angry that the veins in his forearms were about to burst, but his hands could only tightly grip that blood-stained scrap metal.

Ivan watched Blake's miserable state and bared his yellow teeth.

"USA, you've got a good grip."

Blake roared: "Shut up!"

The seventh gear sank rapidly.

Lin Ye fixed his eyes on the edge of the second-level platform.

The Dark Weaver shot into a crack in the stone.

"Jump."

Zhao Mengmeng fired all three claws of her hook simultaneously.

Two figures were rapidly pulled up in front of the sinking giant teeth.

Bang.

Lin Ye's combat boot slammed onto the platform, and he absorbed the impact on one knee.

He backhanded and grabbed Zhao Mengmeng's shoulder strap.

He hauled her onto the solid surface.

Finally standing on the stationary floor tiles.

Zhao Mengmeng fell to the ground, gasping for air.

"The person who designed this crappy bridge probably had their ancestral graves dug up!"

Lin Ye looked down at his right hand.

The shell of the Dark Weaver was shockingly hot, and the anchor point slot was nearly depleted.

His Left Eye throbbed with pain, and black shadows floated at the edge of his vision.

The Great Xia Live Stream was filled with golden barrage comments flying across the screen.

"[Reached the top of the first level! Great Xia is number one!]"

"[Ambushed and ended up hanging on the wall instead, satisfying!]"

"[Brother Lin didn't even pay him any mind; ignoring him is the ultimate humiliation!]"

Lin Ye looked back.

His cold gaze swept down toward the gear abyss below.

Ivan was approaching the final section of the gears.

Pierre from France was dragging his injured leg while swinging across on a rope.

Blake was dragged onto the broken bridge by his companions and was bandaging his bloodied, mangled palms with animal tendon.

Those bloodshot eyes were still staring upward.

Lin Ye withdrew his gaze.

He turned around.

Facing the spiral staircase leading to the second level of the Giant Tower.

"Let's go."
