152: Chapter 152 Airborne Decapitation

Venom poured down along Blake's grayish-white hard shell.

The thick armor, reinforced by parasitic pollution, rapidly dissolved and peeled away in the face of the raw acid, revealing the scarlet, deformed tissue underneath.

Zhao Mengmeng stood behind the black stone, her breathing tight, not moving a single inch.

Just half a step from her feet were unactivated explosive spores.

If she took one wrong step, she would have to take a bath with Blake.

Lin Ye released a secondary line.

The casing of the Dark Weaver bracer was scorching hot.

The two tripwires had exhausted their last bit of high-tension capacity.

It could still fire now, but it couldn't withstand the raw strength of the three-meter monster struggling.

Inside the toxic mist, Blake's roar became shrill.

He did not retreat.

A left arm, corroded to the point where the white bone was exposed, suddenly reached out of the toxic mist.

The giant claw reached toward a thick mycelial root near Zhao Mengmeng's feet.

As long as he could gain leverage, he could drag himself out of the explosion zone.

Lin Ye locked his gaze on the edge of the toxic mist: "The thick root on the left."

Zhao Mengmeng didn't ask why.

The crossbow twanged.

The wooden arrow nailed into that thick mycelial root.

The mycelial root had already been softened by the venom, its surface cracking.

The arrowhead pierced through.

The crack widened accordingly.

Blake pulled hard, trying to use it for leverage.

Snap.

The mycelial root snapped in two.

Blake staggered backward.

The other severed wrist, covered in tumors, swept horizontally, smashing toward a mycelial column on the right.

"Three feet high on the right."

Twang!

The second wooden arrow shot out.

The arrowhead grazed the toxic mist and accurately struck the base of the mycelial column.

The mycelial column exploded, spraying a circle of thick sap.

When the tumor-covered wrist smashed into it, the entire mycelial column burst and collapsed from the base.

Blake completely lost his leverage.

His massive body tumbled back into the center of the toxic mist.

Zhao Mengmeng cursed: "Climb? Climb your grandpa!"

Blake roared in pain until his voice became hoarse.

The toxic mist continued to gnaw through his hard shell.

Grayish-white mycelium drilled out from the wounds, only to be burned into black ash by the acid.

But those bloodshot eyes of his were still fixed on the black stone.

"Lin... Ye..."

"He's still not dead after all that?" Zhao Mengmeng gritted her teeth.

Lin Ye looked up.

A broken branch hung above the toxic mist.

It was a hardened branch left behind after the giant mycelial column snapped.

It was ten meters from the ground.

There were only a few Dark Weaver anchors left.

The Fire Axe had just been repaired, and the edge wasn't very sharp.

But striking down from a height of ten meters.

That would be enough.

Lin Ye sheathed his bone blade at his waist.

Zhao Mengmeng saw through his intention at a glance: "You're going to jump in and chop him?"

"His skull has softened." Lin Ye gripped the axe handle tightly.

"That's still a toxic pool!"

"Give me the blue ball algae sap."

Zhao Mengmeng took out half a blue ball algae juvenile.

She squeezed out the sap and aggressively smeared it onto his mask, cuffs, and axe handle.

"If you get dissolved, I'm really not carrying you."

"You couldn't carry me anyway."

"Glad you understand."

Lin Ye stepped onto the edge of the black stone.

Left Eye activated instantly.

The toxic mist obscured his vision.

In the red light, there was an expanding crack at Blake's neck.

It was the spot with the deepest corrosion.

Lin Ye raised the Dark Weaver.

The anchor fired.

It firmly latched onto the broken branch ten meters above.

The winch retracted at high speed.

His body was forcibly pulled into mid-air.

Zhao Mengmeng quickly crouched low.

She swept the crossbow around.

A few parasitic beasts outside the toxic mist, attracted by the noise, were lingering nearby, but intimidated by the scent of the blue ball algae, they dared not approach.

The Great Xia Live Stream chat was flooded with comments.

[Flying again!]

[Are they really going for an airborne decapitation?!]

[Blake has mutated into this, yet he's still being pinned down and killed in the toxic pool by Brother Eye!]

[From the moment blue ball algae was used as bait, Blake has been walking the road to the underworld that Brother Eye paved for him!]

The USA livestream room was silent, with only the occasional curse from someone having a breakdown.

Ten meters up.

Lin Ye hung in mid-air.

The toxic mist churned, and hot acidic gas blasted against his mask.

Blake struggled to lift his head.

His mutated head had already swollen and deformed, half of his face torn open by mycelium.

The crack on the side of his neck was fully exposed to the upper layer of the toxic mist.

Lin Ye released the mechanism.

His body plunged straight down.

In mid-air, he gripped the axe with both hands.

The Fire Axe was raised high above his head.

Blake sensed the wind pressure and instinctively raised his giant arm to block.

Zhao Mengmeng locked onto his wrist.

Twang!

The third wooden arrow left the string.

It pierced right into the softest, most corroded crevice of that giant arm.

Blake felt the pain, and his arm instinctively shifted aside by half a foot.

That half-foot shift exposed his vital neck area.

Lin Ye used the momentum of his fall.

The axe blade hacked into the crack on the side of Blake's neck.

Crack!

The axe blade got stuck firmly in the bone shell.

The resistance was immense.

It didn't break.

Lin Ye stomped both feet heavily onto Blake's broad shoulders and back.

His body was jolted high up by the recoil.

His left hand pressed down hard on the axe handle.

His right hand reached back to draw the bone blade from his waist.

Following the gap cleaved by the axe blade, he stabbed the knife in.

Blake shook his head violently.

Venom splashed everywhere.

The edges of Lin Ye's mask were scorched black.

His hands didn't move an inch.

"Again!"

Zhao Mengmeng finished loading the last heavy melee arrow.

Twang!

The wooden arrow pierced straight into Blake's giant, fang-filled mouth.

Blake's roar was choked off in his throat, and his head tilted backward uncontrollably.

Lin Ye exerted force with both hands.

The Fire Axe pressed down a second time.

The curled iron blade sliced open the already softened bone shell.

Together with the bone blade, it forcefully severed the neck bone.

Splat!

Black-red blood plasma mixed with grayish-white mycelium sprayed into the sky.

The massive head detached from the shoulders.

It rolled into the toxic mud pit, the upper and lower jaws still twitching.

The three-meter-tall headless carcass knelt heavily to the ground.

It fell heavily into the center of the venom.

Sending up a circle of sickly green waves.

Lin Ye swung across using the Dark Weaver's short line and landed steadily back on the black stone.

Upon landing, his knees sank, and he braced one hand on the ground to absorb the impact.

Zhao Mengmeng stepped forward.

She grabbed his tactical harness and dragged him back behind the safety of the stone.

"Are you crazy?!"

Lin Ye wiped the scorched fuzz off the edge of his mask: "I didn't fall in."

"You still wanted to fall in and experience a bath?"

"I'll be careful next time." Lin Ye regulated his breathing.

The Great Xia Live Stream was flooded with comments.

[Decapitation! The USA's evolved monster has been beheaded!]

[This axe strike is too hardcore!]

[Brother Eye: You steal my blue ball algae, I'll give you a mushroom poison soup combo.]

The livestream feed for Blake froze on that rotting, headless corpse.

Grayish-white mycelium crawled out of the body, only to be burned into fly ash by the acid.

No evolution.

Only the remains, completely obliterated by the Void Sea.

Lin Ye lowered his head and picked up the Fire Axe.

The axe blade was hung with sticky mycelium and had chipped again.

Zhao Mengmeng glanced at the tattered backpack on the edge of the venom in the distance: "Loot the body?"

"Only take the clean stuff."

Lin Ye used his bone blade to hook the broken backpack strap.

The dried meat inside was covered in gray spots.

The animal skin was severely polluted.

The salt brick had turned black.

He picked out a piece of flint, a length of clean animal tendon, and a metal buckle.

Zhao Mengmeng curled her lip: "Just this?"

"Everything else is dirty."

"He went to such great lengths to chase us, just to give us this bit of junk."

"It counts as being polite." Lin Ye packed the items away.

Zhao Mengmeng sneered: "Tell him to be more generous in his next life."

Lin Ye stood up.

Left Eye cut through to the true vision.

At the outer edge of the toxic mist.

In a corner, a faint red light was hidden behind a decaying mycelial column.

The red light was pressed extremely low, hugging the ground, camouflaged to almost blend in with the environment.

The target locked by that red light wasn't him.

It was Zhao Mengmeng.

Behind the rotting mycelial column.

Martin was pressed tightly into the black mud.

His whole body was coated in foul-smelling parasitic beast mucus and rotting human flesh.

The wound on his right leg was turned inside out, already rotted beyond recognition.

He held his breath and raised the short crossbow he had captured.

The tip of the crossbow bolt was coated in the black blood from Blake's corpse.

Martin stared fixedly at Zhao Mengmeng's back.

His index finger on the trigger gradually tightened.
