151: Chapter 151 Every Step a Trap

Martin's screams echoed through the depths of the fungal forest.

Zhao Mengmeng instinctively leveled her crossbow.

The arrowhead locked onto the direction of the sound.

Lin Ye did not move from his spot.

He picked up the aluminum pot, poured the last half-bowl of mushroom soup into a bone canister, and snapped the lid shut.

Zhao Mengmeng kept her finger on the trigger, whispering, "Brother Lin, the screaming over there is quite miserable."

Lin Ye picked up the black stone and smothered the flames.

"It's supposed to be miserable."

He inverted the aluminum pot on the outside of his backpack.

The second scream was cut short quickly.

The fungal forest went silent for half a second.

Immediately after, large swathes of gray-white spores began to swirl against the wind.

The flying fluff in mid-air stopped falling aimlessly and began to converge violently toward a certain point in the rear.

The white fungal fluff on the ground was also forcibly pulled, turning over in layers.

Zhao Mengmeng retreated half a step.

Lin Ye pressed his right hand against the Dark Weaver and instantly activated Left Eye.

In his retinas, all the dark red patches in the distance were collapsing.

Gray-white spores, parasitic hyphae, and the remains of split-head beasts were all being pulled by a massive silhouette.

A three-meter-tall dark red humanoid figure was approaching at high speed.

The outer layer of the red light was covered in thick gray patches.

The patches were writhing crazily.

There was no vitality within this thing, only chaotic, extreme pollution activity.

Lin Ye closed Left Eye.

A sharp pain shot through his eye socket.

He stuffed the blue ball algae larva into his inner pocket: "Blake."

Zhao Mengmeng's expression turned ugly: "He's not dead yet?"

"Not dead, and he's grown bigger."

A violent crashing sound came from the distance.

A withered fungal pillar was snapped in half, crashing heavily into the black soil.

Blake's roar pierced through the spore mist behind, rushing toward them.

The sound had departed from human vocal structures; his throat was crammed with the sticky sounds of hyphae and blood blisters bursting.

The Great Xia Live Stream chat was flooded with comments.

[Holy crap! Blake is chasing them!]

[How much monster meat did he eat? This guy has completely mutated!]

[Did the USA just feed their own contestant until he became a monster?]

The USA livestream room was being spammed like crazy.

[Blake has achieved evolution!]

[The Great Xia people are done for; they can't escape in this forest!]

[Tear the Great Xia people apart! Take the resources back!]

Lin Ye grabbed two pieces of flammable fungal roots.

Zhao Mengmeng stared intently at the rolling mist ahead: "Brother Lin, if we don't leave, he'll be right in our faces."

Lin Ye pointed to a patch of black soil ahead.

"Head that way."

Zhao Mengmeng looked over.

The clearing looked very clean.

There was no thick white fluff, nor were there any giant fungal pillars blocking the way.

There were only a few inconspicuous, short, dark brown mushrooms scattered along the edge of the black soil.

She quickly shouldered her pack and followed.

Lin Ye was not walking fast.

Every step landed firmly on the hard soil between the gaps of the fungal roots.

The crashing sound was getting closer, and the black soil was even trembling slightly.

"How far?" Zhao Mengmeng followed closely in his footsteps.

"Sixty meters. Now forty."

Blake's massive body crashed through the spore tide ahead.

His size had ballooned to just over three meters.

His originally thick left arm had expanded nearly double, and the outer layer was covered in a thick, gray-white hard shell.

His severed right hand was wrapped in countless hyphae, congealing into a huge, hammer-shaped sarcoma.

His chest, neck, and even half his face were covered in dense fungal markings.

Blake's whites of his eyes were covered in gray lines, and he stared fixedly at Lin Ye's backpack.

The cool scent of the blue ball algae stimulated the parasitic fungi on his body.

Gray-white spores swirled crazily around him.

His mouth split open, and thick, long hyphae crawled out from between his teeth.

Blood foam rolled in Blake's throat as he burst out with slurred, stiff Great Xia language.

"Lin Ye—give it to me!"

Zhao Mengmeng leveled her crossbow, the arrowhead aimed at his eye socket.

Blake did not slow down, stepping heavily and crushing the dry, hard fungal roots.

Lin Ye had already walked to the center of the clearing.

Left Eye instantly activated.

In his true vision, this clearing was filled with dark red danger markers.

Densely packed dark red point-lights were floating all around.

Every cluster of red light was hidden within those short, dark brown mushrooms.

The outer shells of these mushrooms were extremely thin, and their pressure tolerance limit was extremely low.

The insides were filled with high-concentration, highly acidic venom and explosive spores.

In the entire area, only a black stone in the center of the clearing emitted a clean green light.

The stone surface was not large, barely enough for one person to stand steadily.

Lin Ye stopped at the edge of the black stone.

He took the blue ball algae larva out from his inner pocket.

With his bone blade, he cut a small opening, and the pale blue sap dripped onto the surface of the black stone along the blade.

The crisp scent spread rapidly.

Zhao Mengmeng immediately understood: "Using it as bait?"

"Yes."

Lin Ye sealed and put away the remaining larva and raised the Dark Weaver bracer.

The mechanism operated silently.

Two anchors shot out extremely fast, skimming the black soil and burrowing into the rotten mud on the left and right sides.

Nano-wire stretched horizontally across the front of the black stone.

The first line, three inches off the ground.

The second line, pressed against the surface of the rotten soil.

The Nano-wire itself was hard to discern with the naked eye, nearly invisible under the cover of the faint blue glimmer.

Lin Ye had not set up a high-intensity cutting array.

A three-meter aberration's outer shell might not be easily cut by the Nano-wire.

He only needed Blake to lose his balance.

Lin Ye pointed to the back of the black stone: "Step on this stone; if you go half a step beyond it, you will die."

Zhao Mengmeng stood firm, the wooden arrow notched tightly in the string groove.

Blake charged to within ten meters.

He smelled the scent of the blue ball algae close at hand.

It could alleviate the torture he endured from the high heat and pollution.

"Give it to me!" Gray-white dust sprayed wildly from his throat along with his roar.

Lin Ye stood to the side of the black stone.

The Fire Axe with its repaired blade hung at his side, the cold wind sweeping over his tactical armor.

"Come and take it."

The Great Xia Live Stream chat was scrolling at extreme speed.

[Brother Eye definitely set a trap!]

[But with Blake's size and speed, what trap could possibly stop him if he charges through!]

Blake braced against the cold wind, lowering his massive body.

He pushed off hard against the black soil with both legs, lunging madly toward the pale blue sap on the black stone.

First step, crushing the rotten soil.

Second step, stepping over the short fungi.

Third step, Blake's left ankle, exerting force, slammed hard into the first Nano-wire.

Hum!

The Nano-wire snapped taut.

The Dark Weaver bracer jerked violently.

The gray-white hard shell on Blake's leg blocked the cutting.

But his extreme charging center of gravity was forcibly yanked by this resistance.

The second Nano-wire, pressed against the ground, took the opportunity to trip his sprinting right foot.

Lin Ye pressed the mechanism.

The high-frequency engine let out a short, explosive sound.

Both Nano-wires tightened viciously at the same time.

Blake's massive, three-meter-long, over three-hundred-jin body continued to surge forward, but his feet were firmly intercepted and stopped in place.

He lost control entirely, crashing horizontally through the air.

He crashed straight into the patch of short, dark brown mushrooms on the left.

The immense momentum caused him to slam heavily onto the ground.

The first mushroom was crushed and exploded.

A dull sound of bursting blisters rang out.

High-concentration dark green toxic acid shot into the sky, soaking half of Blake's body directly.

Immediately after.

The underground root systems connected.

All the dark brown mushrooms around the clearing were activated by the violent vibration.

A series of dense explosions rang out one after another beneath the mud.

Bang, bang, bang, bang!

Thick green toxic acid and high-pressure spore dust rose from the ground.

It submerged that struggling, massive body.

The venom crazily corroded the gray-white hard shell, erupting with an ear-piercing sound of flesh and skin sizzling.

Large swathes of scalding black smoke mixed with red light shot toward the sky.

Blake's shrill screams pierced through the toxic mist, echoing over the entire fungal forest.
