141: Chapter 141 Ascending the Third-Level Elevator

The thing crawled up against the stone pillar without making a single sound in the water.

It was nearly three meters long, with a flat, elongated body and short, thick, sturdy limbs.

Its back was covered in dark gray bone plates, with sharp, serrated edges growing along the sides.

It had no eyes on its head, only two vertical, slit-like nostrils.

Its mouth was flat when closed, but once opened, it revealed a mouthful of fine, sharp teeth.

Zhao Mengmeng subconsciously leveled her crossbow: "Did this thing, a crocodile, change classes to an assassin?"

A pale blue screen popped up before Lin Ye's right eye.

[Blind Blade Lizard]

The water level rose, awakening the native exotic beasts in the black water.

There wasn't just one.

Near the edges of several low pillars in the distance, flat heads poked out one after another.

They weren't looking at anyone.

They only lay near the damp marks on the stone pillars, their bodies pressed tightly against the pillar surface.

Waiting for vibrations.

"Don't make a sound, don't knock on the pillars." Lin Ye pressed down on Zhao Mengmeng's crossbow arm.

Zhao Mengmeng released her finger from the trigger.

The poisonous rain had stopped, and every sound of footsteps in the stone forest was amplified by the black water.

On the left side, the path was cut off, and a Challenger from a small country was trapped in a dead end.

The animal skin on his body had been burned through by the poisonous rain, and his back was covered in charred, bloody spots.

The central lift was right in front.

He saw Lin Ye and Zhao Mengmeng stop, gritted his teeth, and leaped toward the stone pillar ahead.

When he landed, the soles of his boots slipped heavily on the slippery pillar surface.

His knee struck the edge of the stone pillar.

Thud.

A dull sound spread out.

The water surface suddenly broke open.

Three Blind Blade Lizards turned at the same time.

Without vision, they still accurately locked onto that stone pillar.

The first one burst out of the water, biting through his left arm in one go.

The second one bit onto the bottom of his backpack, fiercely dragging him underwater.

The third one swept its tail horizontally, its serrated blades instantly tearing open his calf.

The Challenger screamed out loud, slashing his blade wildly.

The blade struck the bone plates, sparking a few clusters of flames.

The louder the sound, the more frenzied the Blade Lizard's biting became.

The black water churned.

Half of the man's body was dragged into the water.

A few seconds later, the screams were drowned out by the black water.

Only backpack fragments and a circle of spreading red-black water ripples remained on the surface.

Zhao Mengmeng's throat bobbed: "They rely on sound?"

"Sound and vibration."

Zhao Mengmeng looked toward the central lift: "The last twenty meters won't be easy to pass."

"Yeah."

There were few high pillars around the lift.

For the last stretch of the road, they had to cross the edges of several damp pillars in succession.

Every step could not make any loud noise.

But the stone pillars had just been washed by acid rain, and the surfaces were extremely slippery.

The black water had already risen to less than a palm's width from the tops of some low pillars.

As long as the pillar sank slightly, the Blade Lizard could bite their ankles directly.

On the other side.

Ivan and Pierre were also blocked off.

Two Blind Blade Lizards were lying on the low pillar ahead, sealing off the path.

Ivan's left arm was burned, and his movements were a bit stiff.

Pierre was dragging his crippled leg, making it impossible to jump long distances.

Ivan swung his bone pick, and the handle tapped lightly against the back of the stone pillar he was on.

The sound was faint.

A Blade Lizard in front immediately raised its head.

Ivan waited for it to get half a step closer, then pushed off hard with both legs and leaped from the pillar.

He smashed the bone pick down hard from above.

The Blade Lizard opened its mouth to bite back.

Ivan didn't dodge or avoid it; he met the bone teeth directly with the leather guard on his left arm.

The bone pick wedged heavily into the front armor of the Blade Lizard's lower jaw.

Crack.

Bone fragments shattered.

The Blade Lizard's head was smashed downward.

Ivan landed, the stone pillar sank, and the black water instantly covered his boot soles.

The second Blade Lizard lunged straight at his side.

Pierre moved.

The rope at his waist was tightly wound around the high pillar behind him.

Dragging his crippled leg, he used the rope to swing out.

Holding his short knife in a reverse grip, he accurately sliced into the gap between the bone plates on the back of the Blade Lizard's neck.

He didn't cut the bone armor.

The blade followed the soft connection point, applying force diagonally.

The Blade Lizard's body twitched violently.

Pierre used the momentum to flip over the lizard's back, and the rope took advantage of the momentum to strangle its neck.

Ivan followed up with a backhand strike with his pick.

The Blade Lizard's neck bone snapped, and black blood sprayed out.

Both of them retreated simultaneously, returning to the high pillar.

Ivan stared at Pierre: "Still alive?"

Pierre wiped the black blood off his face: "Still holding on."

The Great Xia Live Stream barrage scrolled wildly.

[The Russian and the Gaul, this teamwork is decent.]

[There really are no weaklings who can make it this far.]

[Brother Eye's side is even harder; the area in front of the lift is full of monsters.]

Blake was stuck in a stone niche in the distance.

The severe injury to his palm made it impossible for him to climb or jump quickly.

The blisters burned by the poisonous rain caused excruciating pain with every breath he took.

He stared intently at Lin Ye's back.

He understood the Blade Lizard's target-seeking pattern, but he could only wait for the Great Xia people to test it out.

Lin Ye crouched on the edge of the high pillar and fished out a few discarded metal buckles from his backpack.

Hans's animal tendon belt buckle, plus some metal fragments picked up from the first floor.

Zhao Mengmeng's eyes flickered: "Luring the tiger away from the mountain?"

"As long as the sound is loud enough."

"What's the distance?"

"About fifty meters."

Zhao Mengmeng followed his gaze toward the abandoned stone pillar area on the right.

The water level was higher there, and it was full of submerged damp pillars.

The window of opportunity to lure the monsters was extremely short.

Once the Blade Lizards discovered there were no living creatures, they would quickly return to patrol the water surface.

Lin Ye tied six metal buckles onto the Dark Weaver's secondary line.

Leaving intervals.

A thin stone shard was sandwiched in between.

Zhao Mengmeng pressed down on her crossbow: "Do you want me to fire an arrow over there?"

"The sound of an arrow is too sharp; use a dull thud."

Lin Ye wrapped the secondary line around his fingers.

This time, he wasn't wearing the Dark Weaver launcher on his right arm.

He didn't activate Left Eye's clairvoyance.

Distance, angle, and rebound trajectory were all based on the stone forest model replicated in his mind.

"I'll throw the noise."

"You follow me."

"Don't step on water marks, don't touch the pillar edges."

Zhao Mengmeng locked her crossbow and tightened all the attachments on her body.

The bone tube on the outside of her backpack was cinched tightly with a belt.

"Got it."

Lin Ye's arm lashed out suddenly.

The secondary line with the metal buckles tied to it cut through the darkness.

The first buckle struck the abandoned stone pillar heavily.

Clang!

The second one followed closely and hit the half-collapsed pillar.

Clang, clang!

The stone shard shattered, and the metal buckles bounced continuously between the stone pillars.

Clatter!

A series of violent clashing sounds echoed deep within the Honeycomb Stone Forest.

All the Blind Blade Lizards whipped their heads around simultaneously.

The water surface bulged one after another.

A dozen dark gray backs broke through the black water and lunged straight toward the abandoned stone pillar area.

The metal buckles were dragged by the Dark Weaver's secondary line, continuing to crash around between the collapsed pillars.

The sounds were chaotic, and the positions kept changing.

The pack of Blade Lizards was lured away.

"Go."

Lin Ye used his wrist strength to tug on the secondary line at Zhao Mengmeng's waist.

Both of them leaped at the same time.

The first jump.

Lin Ye landed in the exact center of the dry, remaining surface of the damp pillar.

The pillar sank an inch.

Zhao Mengmeng landed behind him to the side, her knees bent deeply, her boot soles lightly touching the stone surface.

The Dark Weaver's secondary line tightened slightly, absorbing the weight of the descent.

The second jump.

Crossing over a low pillar that was only exposed by half a foot.

The black water grazed their soles.

Zhao Mengmeng's boot soles brushed over the water surface, kicking up a wisp of cold air.

The third jump.

When Lin Ye landed, the pillar surface was slippery.

His left toe deviated by half an inch.

He quickly tapped the wooden handle of his Fire Axe against the pillar surface, blocking the sliding trajectory.

The axe handle touched lightly, not making a single sound.

Zhao Mengmeng swept past his side, landing on the high pillar ahead a step earlier.

The secondary line pulled back, stabilizing Lin Ye's center of gravity.

The two of them silently exchanged front and back positions in mid-air.

In the distance, the Blade Lizards were frantically biting at the metal buckles.

After a few Blade Lizards missed, they started to turn around and wander.

The last eight meters.

The bronze edge of the lift was two feet above the water surface.

In between was a narrow pillar, with half of its top surface wet.

Lin Ye didn't slow down.

He raised his right arm level, and the Dark Weaver's short anchor shot out, nailing into the gear teeth on the edge of the lift.

Zhao Mengmeng's Wind-Chasing Claw launched simultaneously, biting tightly onto the outer edge of the platform.

The two of them gave up on the narrow pillar.

Relying on the tension of the two lines, they silently swept horizontally over the narrow pillar.

In the black water, a returning Blind Blade Lizard suddenly raised its head.

An extremely faint sound of a mechanism entered its nostrils.

It lunged forward.

Half a second too late.

The two of them had already crossed the black water.

Lin Ye's combat boots stepped onto the bronze lift, emitting a very muffled, tiny sound.

Zhao Mengmeng landed and rolled, her crossbow immediately leveled.

The Blade Lizard that missed its lunge crashed into the outer edge of the lift.

The bronze platform didn't echo at all.

The Blade Lizard's nostrils twitched a few times; having lost the sound source, it slid silently back into the black water.

Lin Ye pulled back the Dark Weaver's secondary line.

The metal buckles in the distance let out one last clashing sound before being bitten to pieces.

In the stone forest, the gazes of all countries were fixed simultaneously on the center.

Ivan stood on the high pillar, his bone pick propped on the ground.

Pierre spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva.

Blake stared intently at the figure on the lift.

The Great Xia Live Stream was covered in barrage comments.

[Silent parkour! Full of details!]

[The monster was right in its face and didn't even notice; this is what you call pressure!]

[Like walking a dog, he led the monsters away to pick up trash while he got on the ride!]

[This is Great Xia! Number one!]

Zhao Mengmeng crouched on the edge of the lift.

After confirming there was no movement in the surrounding water, she slowly exhaled the pent-up breath in her chest.

"Brother Lin, have we arrived?"

Lin Ye looked at the intricate bronze gear pattern in the center of the lift.

Deep within the gear pattern, the cold sound of mechanical friction slowly awakened.

He gripped the broken bone blade tightly.

His gaze swept over the foreign survivors trapped in the water prison.

"Get on the ride first."

Zhao Mengmeng steadied her crossbow, guarding the edge.

Lin Ye strode toward the center of the bronze platform.

The two of them stood firmly on the only path leading to the third floor.
