11: Chapter 11 The Gaze of the Abyss

Following immediately after the first Stinger Bug.

A second and a third Stinger Bug kept pouring out.

The Armored Elite Soldiers at the cave entrance took turns striking with their swords.

Steam billowed, and every sword strike was fatal.

The kill notifications were almost drowning out Su Yang's interface.

[ Killed Level 1 Tyranid Stinger, command points + 20 ]

[ Killed Level 1 Tyranid Stinger, command points + 20 ]

[ Killed Level 1 Tyranid Stinger, command points + 20 ]

...

The strategy worked.

Due to the restrictions of the narrow cave entrance, the Tyranid Swarm could only attack with at most two units at a time.

This way, their numerical advantage could not be utilized at all.

After surrounding and killing them for a while, the six-man squad also arrived at the cave entrance.

Su Yang began to rotate them based on their remaining power reserves.

Ensuring that every Elite Soldier had a certain reserve of energy to deal with emergencies.

The surrounding and killing at the cave entrance continued, and the Insect Swarm charged incessantly like men on a suicide mission, wanting to achieve a Breakthrough at the entrance.

But no matter how loudly they screeched, they could not break through.

Kill notifications sounded incessantly, and the kill count had already reached an astonishing 19!

If told, people would never imagine that the side being slaughtered was actually the strongest race in the early stages—the Tyranid Swarm!

The kill count stopped when it reached 22.

The Insect Swarm stopped attacking, and the sound of corpses sliding came from inside the cave entrance.

Is it over?

Su Yang raised his hand to signal the Armored Elite Soldiers to wait in place.

Before the situation was confirmed, he could not rush into an attack.

Just as he was contemplating sending soldiers in to investigate.

Two half-meter-long insect stingers suddenly shot out from the pitch-black cave entrance.

Whoosh, whoosh——————

The speed was so fast that an ordinary person could not react at all.

The Elite Soldier guarding the front of the cave entrance quickly swung his sword to block one.

The other one struck his chest armor directly.

The powerful impact knocked him back nearly half a meter.

Losing nearly 43% of his armor value!

Ranged attack!

Su Yang's eyes flickered, and he immediately ordered the Armored Elite Soldiers to retreat from the cave entrance.

Although the cave entrance had great strategic significance, he did not want his Elite Soldiers to get injured.

At the current stage, there were no copper alloy resources, and it was impossible to repair the Imperial Armor.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh———————

Dozens of insect stingers shot out one after another, covering the entire cave entrance.

Fortunately, they had retreated in advance, otherwise more Elite Soldiers would have lost armor.

Su Yang's mind raced.

He soon gave the order for the Elite Soldiers to split into two teams again.

One team moved away from the cave entrance and set up a formation to engage the Insect Swarm.

The other team guarded the back of the cave entrance.

Targeting those newly appeared Tyranids capable of launching ranged attacks.

Not long after the retreat, rapid movement sounds came from inside the cave entrance.

Rustle, rustle, rustle————

Rustle, rustle, rustle————

Dozens of Stinger Bugs poured out of the cave entrance, forming an Insect Swarm squad.

They raised their dual blades and made shrill insect screeches, as if expressing anger.

Immediately receiving orders, the entire squad charged toward the Elite Soldier squad at the front of the cave entrance.

At the same time, behind them, two Tyranid Brain Bugs appeared, followed by four of the new type of Tyranids.

Their size was between that of a Stinger Bug and a Tyranid Brain Bug.

Their bodies were covered in black-brown markings, and their dual blades were short.

There were two scorpion-like, upward-curving tail stingers behind their bodies.

These were the units launching the ranged attacks!

The moment he saw them, Su Yang ordered a full-scale attack.

This time, he would crush them in one go!

Bang, bang——————

A dozen sounds of steam jets erupted.

The Armored Elite Soldiers at the front and those ambushing at the back charged simultaneously.

The Insect Swarm was no match for the Armored Elite Soldiers at the front.

And the ranged units at the back, having lost their distance advantage, were nothing more than fish on the chopping block.

[ Killed Level 1 Tyranid Stinger, command points + 20 ]

[ Killed Level 2 Tyranid Brain Bug, command points + 100 ]

[ Killed Level 2 Tyranid Spitting Insect, command points + 50 ]

[ Killed Level 1 Tyranid Stinger, command points + 20 ]

...

As the sounds of sword swings continued to ring out, the Tyranid Swarm's final wave of attacks was completely disintegrated.

After waiting for another period to ensure there was no movement in the cave.

Su Yang followed the Armored Elite Soldiers unit deep into the Insect Swarm nest.

Before entering, they pulled a few rod-shaped glowing plants for illumination.

In the light, the internal structure of the Insect Swarm nest appeared before Su Yang's eyes.

The Insect Swarm nest was not large, about five meters deep, and the size of a basketball court.

Its structure was not complicated; after entering the cave entrance, it was just one large space.

Its main purpose was likely to avoid the high-temperature environment during the day.

On one side of the large space, there was a passage leading to another space.

Su Yang led the Armored Elite Soldiers in and discovered that this was the space where the Tyranid Brood Mother resided.

This was a dark, massive cavern, with a damp, foul odor permeating the air.

Countless glowing mosses were embedded in the walls, providing a faint light to the cavern.

The Armored Elite Soldiers held the glowing plants high, illuminating the path ahead.

He saw a massive, five-meter-tall fleshy tumor hanging upside down from the cavern ceiling.

The fleshy walls were nearly transparent, filled with dark, murky solution inside.

Below the fleshy tumor was an insectoid brain covered in tentacles.

Tyranid Brood Mother, the creator of the Insect Swarm.

She did not possess any offensive capabilities; she was merely a reproductive machine with only the ability to breed.

Sensing someone approaching, the tentacles on the Brood Mother's brain trembled frantically.

Calling for help? Unfortunately, nothing can respond to you.

Su Yang looked coldly at the Brood Mother and waved his hand to issue an order.

Four Armored Elite Soldiers stepped forward and slowly thrust their bronze swords into the brain.

As the sword tips went deeper, the Brood Mother let out a shriek, and the fleshy tumor behind her surged continuously.

After a while, the shrieking gradually faded.

The kill notification sounded on the interface.

[ Killed Level 3 Tyranid Brood Mother, command points + 200 ]

Thus, the battle to clear the Insect Swarm nest was declared over.

Under Su Yang's command, the Armored Elite Soldiers only paid the price of partial armor damage.

They killed 36 Stinger Bugs, 3 Tyranid Brain Bugs, 4 Tyranid Spitting Insects, and one Tyranid Brood Mother.

Although there were unexpected situations during the battle, Su Yang quickly found ways to deal with them.

However, the most important reason they could achieve a no-casualty kill was the incredibly powerful combat capability of the Armored Elite Soldiers.

Their high mobility and combat power gave them a huge advantage when facing multiple enemies.

The only drawback was the issue of excessive energy consumption.

After a day of search missions and two battles.

The original 7 Armored Elite Soldiers had almost exhausted their power.

Their energy reserves had fallen into the single digits, and they could only maintain basic movement modes.

It was evident that the weakness of the Armored Elite Soldiers lay in prolonged warfare.

If the number of Tyranids had been greater, the outcome could very likely have been reversed.

Of course, the energy shortage issue had already been alleviated with the acquisition of carbon mine resources.

The number one problem had been solved, and what followed was to develop the base with full force.

Closing the interface, Su Yang discovered an amber drop item emerging from the Brood Mother's corpse.

He reached out to touch it and added it to his inventory.

[ Obtained Common E-Grade drop item, Heart of the Hive ]
