99: Chapter 99 Meng Tian makes his appearance, and the long-awaited insect swarm arrives!

As the fine mechanical humming ceased, the Generals Mansion finished upgrading.

Its steel exterior, shimmering with a silvery-white light, looked extremely imposing.

Su Yang did not hesitate and immediately opened the Generals Mansion panel.

[Generals Mansion Panel]

[General: General Meng Tian]

[General Type: Empire Shield]

[command points Required for Summoning: 25000]

[Summoning Available at Level 2 Generals Mansion]

[Upgrade to View More Generals]

General Meng Tian repelled the Xiongnu, recovered the Henan region, built the Great Wall, and guarded the frontier for decades.

He was hailed as the First Warrior of China, the Guardian of the Great Wall, and the Shield of Huaxia.

What kind of skills would such a fierce general possess?

Su Yang flicked his consciousness and invested 17500 command points into the Generals Mansion.

Due to the Level 3 Military Power policy, the cost for summoning, upgrading, and modifying all combat units was reduced by 30%.

This reduced the summoning cost from the original 25000 to 17500, saving 7500 command points!

This was the reason Su Yang decided to expand over the last few days; he could save a large amount of command points.

[command points - 17500]

[Summoning General Meng Tian...]

Once the command points were invested, the upper part of the Generals Mansion suddenly sank with a thunderous roar.

Immediately, mechanical operating sounds rang out, and the upper section slowly rose.

The entire structure began to roar like a steel beast.

The moment the mechanical roaring stopped, the thick steel gates of the Generals Mansion unfolded to the sides.

Dense white steam gushed out, and a massive marching sound composed of mechanical operation and clashing began.

These footsteps were incredibly heavy, sounding like muffled thunder; the commotion was identical to when the Skyfire Guard appeared.

Boom—

With a shake of his footsteps, the surrounding dense white mist was instantly dispersed.

Wearing a suit of black and white alternating steel armor, General Meng Tian, nearly 3 meters tall, suddenly appeared before Su Yang.

General Meng Tian held a heavy shield wider than his armor in his left hand and wielded a steel warhammer as tall as a person in his right.

(Because General Meng Tian was designed as a defensive general, a heavier warhammer was chosen as his weapon to fit his image and avoid conflicting with General Li Xin's charging role.)

(Later, it was discovered that everyone was not very satisfied with the warhammer as a weapon, but since there were already plotlines related to the warhammer, it was difficult for the author to change it.)

(However, rest assured, readers, this is only General Meng Tian's first set of armor; there will be many upgrades later, and various weapons will appear. The author will definitely meet your expectations.)

Upon seeing Su Yang, General Meng Tian placed his warhammer on the ground, causing dust to spray up upon impact.

Immediately after, he held the shield with both hands and gave it a sharp shake, causing the giant heavy shield to deform and contract inward.

After contracting, he hooked the shield onto his chest and pressed it.

With a clanking sound, the giant shield transformed into a heavy breastplate.

"Subordinate General Meng Tian greets Your Majesty!!"

Empire Shield General Meng Tian

General Meng Tian saluted Su Yang, his voice as resonant as the roar of a Dragon and tiger.

Su Yang greeted General Meng Tian and then opened his panel.

[General: General Meng Tian]

[Troop Type: Empire Shield]

[Imperial Armor Armament: Steel Hybrid Power Armor]

[Imperial Armor Effect: Empire Shield: Absorbs shockwaves and explosion damage when attacked, preventing them from spreading outward]

[Weapons and Equipment: Steel Warhammer, Steel Heavy Shield]

[Weapon Effect: None]

[General Skill: Great Wall Guardian (Passive Effect)]

[Skill Effect: Reduces construction and upgrade costs for city walls by half, doubles city wall length]

[General Skill: Solid as a Rampart (Active Effect)]

[Skill Effect: Increases damage resistance of all nearby melee friendly units by 20%]

[Energy Consumption: 15 units of fuel/day, 15 units of concentrated water/day]

[Maintenance Consumption: 10 units of steel resources, 20 units of iron ore resources, 10 units of copper ore resources]

After reviewing General Meng Tian's panel, Su Yang's eyes lit up.

When General Li Xin was summoned, he only had one general skill.

But General Meng Tian possessed two general skills and one armor passive effect.

The active general skill was a team buff oriented towards defense.

The effect of the passive skill was very suitable for General Meng Tian; with this skill, building the Great Wall in the Late Stage did not seem to be a problem.

Finally, there was the Empire Shield effect of General Meng Tian's armor, which was the ability Su Yang needed most right now.

It could absorb a portion of explosion and shockwave damage when defending against attacks.

While reading the skill description, Su Yang wondered if General Meng Tian could withstand the Exterminator's artillery.

If he really could withstand the Exterminator's artillery, then this defensive capability was truly astonishing.

Speculation was useless now; actual combat was the only way to test combat power.

The defensive means had been acquired, and the next step was to face the Bug Swarm Tide!

He needed to acquire as many command points as possible before the Imperial Armor Camp upgraded.

After resting throughout the day, Su Yang and his soldiers were now full of energy.

He had had enough of the petty skirmishes in the Nations Hegemony Tournament; conquering the Bug Swarm Tide was what a real man should do!

Su Yang ordered all soldiers to take their positions.

The city-defending general, General Meng Tian, led the majority of the troops onto the city wall.

Four Skyfire Guards were also pulled into position above the city wall by the steam power modules.

A small squad led by General Li Xin and Armored Elite Warrior Chen Wu was kept below the city wall by Su Yang, as they could serve as surprise reinforcements when the battle began.

After everyone was ready, Su Yang waved his hand to issue the order.

Two Skyfire Guards fired simultaneously, and two blazing high-explosive bombs shot into the sky.

Boom—

The high-explosive bombs landed with a thunderous roar.

Su Yang switched to the Skyfire Guard's perspective and could clearly see the firelight igniting in the distance, with dust spreading in all directions.

Although he didn't know the principle behind it, Su Yang could feel it.

Detonating bombs in the dense forest would definitely anger that Tyranid Warrior.

After the two shells landed, Su Yang stared fixedly into the distance through the Skyfire Guard's perspective.

"Come, come!" Su Yang muttered to himself; he was now in urgent need of the command points provided by the Bug Swarm Tide.

Nearly a minute had passed since the two shells were fired, and there was no movement in the distance.

Just as Su Yang raised his hand to wave and issue another order, the Sonic Detector issued a warning.

He immediately opened the reconnaissance panel and saw a large, extremely scattered group of small white dots rapidly approaching from the north of the territory.

They scattered their troops the moment they entered the reconnaissance range?

Su Yang was somewhat surprised.

If it wasn't a coincidence, then the Insect Swarm had already scouted out the detection and attack range of the Sonic Detector and Skyfire Guards.

These bugs were quite capable.

"Fire!!" Su Yang waved his hand to order again.

So what if they scattered?

Currently, the territory had abundant reserves of both saltpeter and coal.

With sufficient ammunition, there was no need to worry about hit rates or killing efficiency.

Su Yang directly granted the four Skyfire Guards unlimited firing authority.

Fire continuously, no need to save ammunition.

Blow up the damned Insect Swarm!

Boom——————

Boom——————

Boom——————

The four Skyfire Guards opened fire at full capacity, with one Skyfire Bomb after another exploding and creating thunderous roars.

Looking down from above the city wall, it was as if a fireworks show was being performed in the dense forest.

Wherever a Skyfire Bomb landed, a section of the dense forest was scorched.

The powerful force generated by the explosion uprooted the spore vegetation, mixing it with the remains of the Insect Swarm and tossing them into the sky.

In less than a minute, the northern dense forest area had been almost completely turned upside down.

The once brilliant and colorful dense forest was turning into scorched earth in large swathes.

Kill notifications kept flooding the panel.

Su Yang closed his eyes and enjoyed the music composed by the exploding shells.

This sound, like a symphony, made him feel gratified.

This is what you call artillery carpet bombing; this is what is called artillery carpet bombing!
